Jun Zhu turned around, his fox eyes fixed coldly on Mo Yao. There was an icy gleam in his gaze.
This Mo Yao… did he really think of him as some kind of pet?
Did he expect Jun Zhu to come over just because he called? Wouldn’t that be far too humiliating?
But at the same time, Jun Zhu didn’t want to provoke him. He had already regretted his impulsive decision to try and perish together with Mo Yao last time. This world was nothing more than a book’s setting—why should he take things so seriously?
Right now, he cherished his little life. He didn’t want to die here. He wanted to go back!
Though reluctant, he knew he was at a disadvantage. For now, he had no choice but to bow under Mo Yao’s tyranny. If he wanted to leave Mo Yao’s side in the future, the first step was making sure he survived.
So, under Mo Yao’s cold gaze, Jun Zhu unwillingly shuffled toward him.
But then, remembering Qi Hanshui’s injuries, he stopped halfway and turned back.
Glancing at his small paws, he gritted his teeth, biting down on one. Before the wound could heal, he extracted a drop of his own essence blood and held it up to Qi Hanshui’s lips.
“Your injury was caused because of me. This drop of blood won’t heal you completely, but it will preserve your foundation. Consider it my way of repaying your kindness.”
Jun Zhu had no other way to heal him at the moment, but since his fox body was that of a celestial fox, his essence blood was rich with spiritual energy. It should be enough to mend Qi Hanshui’s internal wounds.
Qi Hanshui, for his part, remained calm even as the little white fox spoke. He wasn’t at all startled by a talking fox.
When Jun Zhu finally returned to Mo Yao’s side, he noticed that the man’s gaze had changed. But he couldn’t quite pinpoint how—only that it felt strange.
Being stared at so intently made Jun Zhu uncomfortable all over, so he could only glare back in irritation.
Meanwhile, Murong Feixue felt utterly humiliated at being ignored. Seeing Mo Yao about to leave with the white fox, she quickly stepped forward and blocked their way.
“Stop right there! I don’t care who you are, but you think you can just leave after injuring someone from Wan Jian Mountain?”
She glared at him angrily. As the daughter of Wan Jian Mountain’s sect master, her status was incredibly prestigious. Not only was she revered within her sect, but she was also showered with admiration wherever she went.
When had she ever been treated with such blatant disregard?
And now, after all the commotion, the other guests of the inn had come out to watch. Losing face in front of so many people was a humiliation she could not accept!
Wan Jian Mountain?
That was Lu Yunzhou’s sect.
Hearing that name, Jun Zhu immediately thought of the protagonist he had left behind in a cave. He wondered how Lu Yunzhou was doing now. But when he had left, Lu Yunzhou’s injuries had mostly recovered, so there shouldn’t be any major problems.
“What do you intend to do?”
Mo Yao stood tall, his posture straight as a blade. Looking down at the woman blocking his way, his gaze was frigid—so cold that Murong Feixue felt a chill deep in her bones.
She swallowed hard.
She was the sect master’s daughter. Who would dare to harm her?
Steeling herself, she forced herself to speak.
