She wasn’t afraid of being copied.

Even if others saw what ingredients she added, they wouldn’t be able to replicate her flavor.

Moreover, the wild onions were brought by herself, and the garlic was also a very good ingredient.

After preparing everything, Jian Xiu placed the dried bamboo shoots she brought in a wooden basin to soak.

Then she started washing the pot and lighting the fire.

It was as though she suddenly remembered something, and Jian Xiu looked around the kitchen.

However, no matter how she looked, she still couldn’t find any soy sauce.

It seemed that Zhang Zixuan was right—there really wasn’t soy sauce or oyster sauce in this kitchen.

One had to admit, a big restaurant was a big restaurant; the ingredients here were complete.

They had almost everything that should be available, even ginger.

He had thought that the people here didn’t know that ginger should be used in cooking.

But he hadn’t expected that the kitchen at Yuexiang Tower knew about it.

Here, ginger was expensive, mostly because it was treated as a medicinal herb, and no one would use it for cooking.

Another reason was that the people here didn’t know how to grow ginger.

Thinking about this, Jian Xiu gave a big slap to a piece of ginger.

Upon seeing this, Qin, the junior chef, rushed over and angrily asked, “Madam, what are you doing with that ginger?”

“Isn’t this ginger used as an ingredient?” Jian Xiu asked innocently.

“Ingredient? You’re really bold. Do you know how much this ginger costs per pound? Moreover, you didn’t even ask and just used it so casually?”

“How much? Why can’t it be used?” Jian Xiu asked, curious.

“One tael—one tael of silver per pound. Do you think this ginger can be used as an ingredient? Besides, I’ve been in the kitchen for many years and have never heard of using ginger in cooking. Where did you hear about this remedy?”

“If this ginger isn’t for ingredients, then why is it kept here in the kitchen?” Jian Xiu asked again, puzzled.

“It’s for my older brother. He’s in poor health, and he uses it to make tea. I don’t know why you’re just using it without asking.”

Jian Xiu: “……” What could she say?

It was hanging there, who could have known?

Anyone would think it was something from Yuexiang Tower.

However, this junior chef, Qin, had reminded her that the people here didn’t know that ginger was used to remove fishy smells.

It seemed that this trip wasn’t wasted.

Following the idea of “it’s better not to make a fuss,” Jian Xiu asked, “So, how do you want to handle this? Tell me, how much silver do I need to pay for it?”

Upon hearing this, Qin the junior chef’s angry expression softened.

Seeing this, Jian Xiu knew that he was the type of person with a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

He probably just disliked her showing off in front of them, but he wasn’t a bad person.

Looking down at the cracked ginger in her hand, Jian Xiu gently picked it up and said, “You check if it can still be used. If not, I’ll go to the pharmacy and buy another piece.”

Qin the junior chef gave her a once-over, noticing her thin frame and tattered clothes.

He couldn’t bear it and grabbed the ginger from her hand, muttering, “Forget it, forget it. You don’t need to pay for it. This ginger is just cracked. It’s still good for making tea. Besides, my older brother always crushes it when he makes tea.”

Jian Xiu: “……”

“What are you standing there for? Aren’t you going to cook? Hurry up. Soon it’ll be meal time, and we don’t have the space for you to linger here.”

Jian Xiu quickly turned around, but suddenly remembered something and turned back to ask, “Is there anything else here that belongs to you?”

“No, no. You can use everything else.”

Hearing this, Jian Xiu sighed in relief.

She turned back and continued with her work.

When stir-frying the pig’s intestines, the most important thing was the heat.

It had to be high to make the intestines crisp.

This way, the texture would be better when eaten.

She then cut the wild onions she brought into small pieces and added oil to the pan.

Before long, a strange fragrance filled the kitchen.

Even the Qin brothers, who weren’t particularly observant, began to look surprised.

“What are you making? It smells really good,” Qin the junior chef couldn’t hold back from asking.

“This is a secret,” Jian Xiu replied proudly.

The smell was so enticing that even she felt like drooling.

“It looks like a meat dish.”

“Yes, it is. Once it’s done, you can try it too and give me some feedback!” Jian Xiu said humbly.

After all, she had just smashed their ginger, so she couldn’t be too cold-faced.

She made a mistake, but Jian Xiu wasn’t too proud to admit it.

While they were talking, a plate of pig’s intestines was ready.

At this moment, the shopkeeper came upstairs.

“It’s ready already? I could smell it downstairs just now. It’s really special,” Shopkeeper Wu exclaimed.

For some reason, she had the feeling that this woman in front of her could bring her a surprise.

“Alright, alright, Shopkeeper Wu, come try it! I was just about to take it to you.”

When Jian Xiu saw Shopkeeper Wu, it was as if she had seen the god of wealth—she was excited and thrilled.

Shopkeeper Wu didn’t hesitate, the dish smelled so good.

She picked up a piece with her chopsticks and put it in her mouth. The unique flavor immediately captivated her.

After taking a few more bites, the texture was chewy yet crispy, and most importantly, the taste was truly special.

“This… this is amazing! What is this made from? Is it a meat dish?”

After asking that, Shopkeeper Wu immediately realized how silly the question was, as the moment she tasted it, she knew it was a meat dish.

It was clear that she had asked a dumb question.

The Qin brothers, seeing Shopkeeper Wu eating bite after bite, afraid it would finish, quickly joined in.

Seeing this, Jian Xiu became even more confident.

“How is it, Shopkeeper Wu? Is there anything that needs improvement in the flavor?” Jian Xiu asked, watching Shopkeeper Wu devour the dish.

“Improvement? It’s already great.”

Before Shopkeeper Wu could speak, Qin the junior chef chimed in, “It really doesn’t need improvement. But I’m curious, what exactly is this dish? You just said it’s low-cost, but it’s a meat dish. How could it be low-cost?”

“I’m afraid you won’t believe it when I tell you, Shopkeeper Wu,” Jian Xiu said mysteriously.

“Oh? Come here, madam, let’s talk about it!” Shopkeeper Wu smiled and said.
