“How is it? Did you catch any wild boars?” Jian Xiu anxiously asked behind.
“Sister-in-law, your luck is unbelievable!” the two of them asked in disbelief.
Looking at the wild boars, they were only injured but still alive.
Isn’t this just pure luck?
“How come there are so many?” Jian Xiu exclaimed.
“Yeah, sister-in-law, did you do something?” Zhang Haifei asked in disbelief.
There were five wild boars in total. Even if you excluded the two small ones, there were still three big ones.
Looking at the size of the three wild boars, they were in their prime—at least three hundred pounds each.
“I didn’t do anything! I just saw some tracks here that looked like boar tracks, so I dug a big pit on a whim, thinking it was worth a shot. I didn’t expect the luck to be this good.”
Zhang Haifei: “…” This isn’t just good luck; it’s extraordinary.
“But how do we get them back? Just the three of us can’t carry them.”
Hearing this, Jian Xiu immediately put down her basket and said, “I was prepared for this. You see, we can make a bamboo raft here.”
The two men: “…” When they left, they were secretly mocking her for being over-prepared.
Now, they had to admit, she wasn’t kidding at all.
“But these boars are still alive. How do we carry them back?” Zhang Zhiyong asked again.
“They’re injured, so it’s easier now. Also, I want to take the two piglets and raise them myself.”
Originally, Jian Xiu had planned to buy two piglets when she went to Yuexiang Building, but she didn’t expect her wish to come true just like that.
“That’s great! Spring pig feed is easy to find. We can raise two piglets. And these two are just right!” Zhang Zhiyong smiled.
However, seeing the three massive wild boars, he was starting to have a headache.
Seeing this, Jian Xiu immediately took out the ropes she had prepared earlier and placed them into the pit.
“You guys bring over the shoulder poles. One of you stand on each side. In a while, I’ll rope the big one, and you can carry it away with the poles.”
“Good idea, why didn’t we think of that?” Zhang Haifei smiled.
Jian Xiu: “…” She wanted to say that she was an expert in this kind of thing.
If it weren’t for the two men being there, she would’ve solved it with a knife in one move.
Since the wild boars were already injured and caught off guard, the rope slipped around the boar’s neck without it even reacting.
“I’ve got it! I’ve got it! Quickly, move to the left!” Zhang Zhiyong excitedly shouted.
At the same time, the wild boar let out a horrible scream.
But soon it couldn’t scream anymore, as its neck was completely trapped. After a short struggle, its legs stiffened…
The second one…
The third one…
By the time it was down to the two piglets, Jian Xiu jumped into the pit and grabbed one with her hand.
“Quick, throw me two more ropes!” Jian Xiu shouted to Zhang Zhiyong above the pit.
“Okay, sister-in-law, catch them!”
Once the two piglets were tied up, she threw them back up, then pulled out her knife from her leg, stuck it into the pit wall, and with a “whoosh,” she jumped up.
Her series of actions left Zhang Zhiyong and Zhang Haifei stunned.
This pit was so deep, even if they were two big men, it wouldn’t have been easy to climb out.
In fact, after Jian Xiu jumped out, she also felt that maybe she had made it seem too easy.
A village woman, how could she have such ability?
But Jian Xiu quickly shrugged off the thought, because in their eyes, she did have this ability.
They couldn’t deny it, because the facts were right in front of them—she was Jian Xiu, and she was capable.
After securing all five wild boars, the three of them dragged the bamboo raft toward the village’s edge.
“Sister-in-law, your luck is incredible! When we get back, Zixuan will be so happy!”
“He doesn’t know about this yet?” Jian Xiu said instinctively.
Hearing this, Zhang Zhiyong instantly understood. If it were him, he probably wouldn’t want his wife to take such risks.
At the village edge, over the past two days, Zhang Zixuan had been cleaning car front grass and bamboo shoots in the yard.
After dinner the previous night, Jian Xiu had carried the bamboo shoots back.
She also fixed his wheelchair by tapping on it, so now it could move normally again.
According to her, it wasn’t broken; it had just gotten stuck.
Zhang Zixuan then began processing the yellow beans.
As Jian Xiu instructed, he cooled the steamed beans, coated them in flour she had bought, and placed them in a warmer place.
As Jian Xiu had said, they needed to ferment and grow mold faster in the warmth.
He didn’t understand why they needed to ferment, but since she said it was for making soy sauce, a food he had never heard of, he was curious.
Could beans really be eaten after they grow mold?
But since she said so, it must have its purpose.
Then he continued to cook bamboo shoots in clean water, occasionally picking out small stones from the salt she bought, which seemed to be the cheapest kind, mixed with some grit.
When he noticed the time and saw Jian Xiu hadn’t come back yet, Zhang Zixuan started to feel worried.
After all, she had gone into the deep mountains alone yesterday, and he was still shaken up by it.
Thinking of this, Zhang Zixuan pushed his wheelchair to the yard’s entrance.
Just as he reached the door, he saw three people dragging a bamboo raft toward his house.
Curious, he pushed his wheelchair closer to them.
When he saw the wild boars on the raft, his astonishment was obvious.
“What is this…?”
“Zixuan, it’s all because of your sister-in-law’s good luck! Come inside, we’ll talk inside!” Zhang Zhiyong smiled.
With these wild boars, plus the car front grass, Zhang Zhiyong was sure that Zhang Zixuan’s family would be fine this winter.
Once the three wild boars were unloaded, Zhang Zhiyong and Zhang Haifei finally believed it.
Jian Xiu had indeed caught three big wild boars with the pit she dug.
“As for these two piglets, your sister-in-law said she would keep them to raise. We didn’t kill them. But what about the three big ones? How do you plan to handle them?” Zhang Zhiyong asked Zhang Zixuan.
