Transmigrating into an Apocalypse Novel: Hoarding Ten Billion Supplies and Clinging to the Villain’s Thigh Chapter 21: Government Relief

Three days later, the government finally issued the first post-storm relief notice. Military personnel, aboard rescue boats, broadcasted the announcement across the city.

“Attention all residents: The government will distribute emergency relief supplies at the community’s emergency relief center tomorrow at 8:00 AM. Please bring your ID card to receive the corresponding supplies. No one is allowed to collect supplies on behalf of others.”

The loudspeakers blared the announcement three times within the community, and everyone felt a sudden surge of hope.

With the government’s help, it seemed like everything wasn’t so terrifying after all.

However, those who knew the inside details remained unfazed. The flood caused by the continuous heavy rains was a national disaster. The government had to salvage supplies from grain reserves across the country, and the number of rescuers available was limited.

Furthermore, it was uncertain how long the distribution of relief supplies would continue. Shu Xin remembered from the books that the government had only distributed relief supplies three times in the past. With the reminder they had received, it was unclear how long this distribution would last.

Thinking too much about it was pointless, so Shu Xin pushed the chaotic thoughts from her mind and focused on the training for the day.

That day, when Yan Mo and the others returned from gathering information, they conducted a thorough analysis of the current situation. Based on this, they adjusted the training plans for Shu Xin and Bu Xiangwen, speeding up their progress and gradually increasing the intensity.

At dinner, the group discussed the distribution of relief supplies the next day and decided that all four of them would go.

The next morning, after breakfast, the four of them bundled up tightly and headed out.

With the heavy rains lasting for so long, the weather in July felt nothing like summer. The air was thick with moisture, and everything around them was damp, creating an uncomfortable, chilly atmosphere.

At home, they kept dehumidifiers running, so it wasn’t noticeable. But as soon as Shu Xin stepped outside, the cold, damp air seemed to seep through to her bones, no matter how many layers she wore. She couldn’t help but shiver.

Yan Mo had been paying attention to Shu Xin’s condition and, noticing her trembling, immediately pulled her into his arms.

“I told you to wear more layers, but you didn’t listen. Now you feel cold, don’t you?”

He scolded her lightly, but his arms tightened around her, using his body to block most of the cold wind.

Shu Xin, already used to her boyfriend nagging like a concerned father, leaned into his embrace and playfully pouted, acting a bit spoiled.

Yan Mo sighed helplessly, resigned to his fate, and held her tighter. He only loosened his grip when they reached their destination.

The community’s emergency relief center was located in a higher elevation area, where the floodwaters hadn’t reached yet, allowing people to stand comfortably. A large open space outside was already crowded with people, all craning their necks toward the distribution point, eager to see what supplies would be handed out.

To prevent any disturbances, each distribution point had a small team of armed soldiers standing guard. Anyone causing trouble would immediately be blacklisted and denied any supplies.

If anyone dared to steal, the soldiers nearby were not to be underestimated. They had received orders to shoot anyone caught looting on the spot, with no mercy.

Shu Xin and the others stood neatly at the back of the line. Mu Qimai and Yan Mo stood one in front and one behind, keeping Shu Xin and Bu Xiangwen safely between them. This way, if anything unexpected happened, they could ensure the safety of the two of them.
