That night, many people noticed something unusual when Zai Xin Yuan and his group came upstairs to cause trouble on the 24th floor. With a sense of schadenfreude, they secretly watched for the results. When they saw Zai Xin Yuan and the others helping each other, looking disheveled as they came down the stairs, a sense of fear started to take root in their hearts toward the 24th floor.
The dark thoughts that had just begun to emerge in their minds were immediately smothered, their hearts filled with a silent fear that made them dare not move recklessly.
With Yan Mo’s display of strength, the building, at least on the surface, had settled down. Meanwhile, Ye Yu’an, who lived in the building where the original novel’s heroine resided, found herself surrounded by chaos, with troubles continuously coming her way.
The protagonist’s halo not only brings the main character an almost supernatural advantage but also accompanies constant trouble coming directly to them.
These troublemakers, none of whom were unaware of Ye Yu’an being a single woman living alone, believed she would be easier to bully than single men or families living together.
One after another, those who came to cause trouble were all thoroughly dealt with by Ye Yu’an.
Being frequently disturbed in her daily life, Ye Yu’an, who had already undergone a change in character after her rebirth, felt her suppressed anger continuously building up. She hadn’t killed anyone yet, thinking it would help refine her temperament. She could feel the shift in her personality. While this change was beneficial for survival in the apocalypse, it had its downsides too.
During this period of solitude after her rebirth, with more time for reflection, Ye Yu’an gradually cleared her mind on many matters.
In her previous life, she was deceived and manipulated by Du Hanxu and Wang Yayun, who had teamed up to trick her, eventually pushing her into a crowd of zombies where she met a tragic death. She realized that part of the cause was her own naivety.
Had she not been so quick to trust others and give them her heart, she wouldn’t have been fooled by their not-so-sophisticated tricks. Seeing their close relationship, she had believed it was due to her involvement.
Now, with this second chance at life, she didn’t want the hatred and suffering from her past life to dominate her future. Those painful days were behind her, and the heavens had given her a chance to start over. She was determined to live a different life.
However, she would take revenge on Du Hanxu and Wang Yayun. She would never let these two get away with it. People always have to pay the price for the mistakes they’ve made.
As the water level gradually reached the 13th floor, more and more people were forced to leave their homes, moving up to higher levels of the building with little food and their bedding. The hallways became more crowded, and the space became smaller. The conflicts between people increased, and quarrels of all sizes broke out every day.
Living in such an environment for a long time, people’s emotions visibly deteriorated. The once well-dressed business elites, who used to walk through high-rise office buildings with grace and eloquence, no longer carried their former charm. They were now full of savagery and disarray, often cursing loudly, an unpleasant sight to behold.
Ye Yu’an had only enough time after her rebirth to finish renovating her home. She had neglected to install iron gates on the stairs, which allowed access directly to the 25th floor. The original safety door wasn’t enough to provide substantial defense.
Today, someone used an axe from the fire extinguisher box to break open the door Ye Yu’an had locked. Ye Yu’an heard the sound of the door being chopped from inside her house, but she didn’t go to check. Instead, she put on the clothes placed by the sofa, waiting for her door to be knocked.
As expected, 15 minutes later, the person who forcefully broke open the door of the stairwell knocked violently on her door. The anger from the leader was evident just from the sound of the knocking.
Ye Yu’an calmly stood up, grabbed the knife in her hand, and walked to the door. Before anyone could react, the person who had knocked was sent flying across the floor, crashing into the wall before finally stopping.
The sight of this left everyone in the hallway stunned, their eyes almost popping out of their sockets.
How could a woman have such strength to easily kick a grown man across the room? It shattered their perceptions of what a typical woman was capable of.
The man Ye Yu’an had kicked was quickly helped to his feet, his face contorting in pain, his teeth bared. His aura was significantly weakened. He pushed away the person helping him and rushed toward Ye Yu’an, attempting to throw a punch.
The next second, his body froze in place, maintaining a ridiculous posture. The cold sensation on his neck extinguished all the anger and impulse he had, leaving him unnaturally calm.
