The person that came to Shuxin’s mind was the male second lead, Yan Mo, from the book. According to the book’s description, his appearance was on par with the male lead, and many readers speculated that his abilities were even greater than the male lead’s because he had never revealed his true strength. On the surface, his abilities were enough to rival the male lead’s.
Some readers even said that if it weren’t for his disinterest in the female lead, the male lead might have been replaced.
For Shuxin, his lack of interest in the female lead was great. This way, she could snatch him without any psychological burden and without having to compete with the female lead, who would otherwise overshadow her.
Most importantly, the author of the novel had once released an anime image of Yan Mo’s character, and that image struck a chord with Shuxin. Moreover, although she hadn’t finished reading the book before she transmigrated, from the parts she had read, Yan Mo’s gentle yet cool and detached personality immediately captivated her.
To get him, she would not only have a shiny new “big leg” (a wealthy and powerful man to rely on), but she would also have a boyfriend who perfectly matched her imagination. This deal was pure profit.
Hehe, as expected, she’s truly a clever girl!
Shuxin silently gave herself a thumbs-up in her mind.
Once the summer vacation ended and she returned to school, she would immediately take action. She had to get him, and if anyone dared compete with her, she would make them regret it!
At this point, Shuxin had no idea that the person she had her eye on was actually the biggest hidden boss in the book. When she later learned Yan Mo’s true identity, she would be the one lying on the bed, clutching her sore back and crying, realizing how naive she had been and how big a hole she had dug for herself.
In the next two days, Shuxin stayed home and didn’t go out. She spent time organizing all of her assets and couldn’t help but be stunned.
The original owner’s parents had spoiled her immensely, and they owned dozens of properties in their name. Without even considering anything else, just the rent from these properties every year was enough for the original owner to live a life without worries.
Most of these properties, Shuxin didn’t plan to keep. She intended to sell all of them, except for two units in the same building, on the top floors. These were bought not long ago, and apart from her parents and her, no one else knew about them.
Since no one knew about these two properties, it meant her uncle’s family wouldn’t find them, and there wouldn’t be other people causing trouble. This would help avoid many issues. Shuxin planned to remodel these two units and use them as her residence during the early stages of the apocalypse.
After organizing her assets, Shuxin spent some time online collecting survival tips for hoarding supplies. She also borrowed experiences from many protagonists of apocalypse novels. She made a long list of the supplies she needed to collect over the next year and printed it out, which was over ten pages long.
To make sure she didn’t forget anything, she even prepared a small notebook to carry around. If she came across any items she hadn’t thought of, she would note them down. She was determined not to leave any gaps.
Once she finished these tasks, Shuxin felt a little more at ease. Next, she just had to wait for tomorrow when her uncle would come with the money to buy her shares.
One hundred billion—this was probably the maximum her “good uncle” could raise. His own shares couldn’t be moved, and some other important investments couldn’t be liquidated quickly. To raise this amount of money, it was likely that he would have to sell off almost all of his personal assets.
The money he was going to give her was enough to make his family feel deeply pained and distressed for a long time.
This was exactly what Shuxin wanted. After all, most of the suffering the original owner endured during the apocalypse came from his family.
They had tricked the original owner out of her shares and used family ties as an excuse to exploit her. Later, they sold her to those vile people in exchange for food, leaving her to suffer immense humiliation and torment before her death. Their actions left Shuxin without any psychological burden to deceive them and take their money.
After a good night’s sleep, Shuxin woke up early the next day and soon received a call from Shu Liangjun. He said he had prepared the money and would come over to sign the contract, asking her to wait at home.
Shuxin raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything. It seemed like her “good uncle” was really eager, afraid that someone else might get their hands on the shares.
But then again, it made sense. For a century-old company like the Shu Corporation, everyone knew how valuable the shares were. If she took them to the market, there would be plenty of people fighting to buy them.
However, she didn’t want to waste too much time on this. Time was limited, and getting the money and collecting supplies was the real priority.
As expected, Shu Liangjun arrived quickly. Half an hour after hanging up the phone, Shuxin heard the doorbell ring.
Today, only Shu Liangjun and his assistant arrived. Both parties knew exactly what the purpose of this visit was, and there was no unnecessary chatter. Everything was straightforward, and Shuxin received the transfer notification and signed her name on the contract.
With everything settled and the shares now in her hands, Shu Liangjun, though still aching from the money he had to part with, was somewhat comforted and finally had the mood to pretend to care about Shuxin.
“Xiner, your parents died in that plane crash, and your uncle knows you must be feeling bad. Now, your uncle’s family is your only remaining family. In the future, the only one you can rely on is me. Whenever you’re free, you can come to the house and visit.”
“Hanyan is about your age. You two must have many common topics to talk about. With her accompanying you, you can quickly get over your sadness. Living well is what your parents would have wanted to see.”
Shuxin almost rolled her eyes internally, but on the surface, she kept a look of someone deeply touched by the care of their only remaining family, responding to Shu Liangjun’s words.
“Uncle, I know. I’m sure mom and dad would want me to live happily. Since there’s still some time before school starts, I plan to go abroad for a while to clear my head and adjust my mood.”
Shu Liangjun’s words of comfort were instantly cut off, and his mood soured. Hearing that Shuxin was going abroad to play, and realizing he couldn’t stop her, his frustration only grew.
What a spoiled girl, still wanting to go abroad and have fun! It’s all my money!
Shu Liangjun left with a black face. Shuxin barely suppressed a smile, feeling a little twisted joy at seeing her enemy uncomfortable.
Indeed, happiness is best enjoyed when it’s built on the pain of your foes.
Shuxin was indeed planning to go abroad, but not for sightseeing. She was going abroad to stockpile supplies.
As a first-year university student, if she didn’t take advantage of the summer break to go abroad, there would be no other good time.
Although there would still be the winter break, Shuxin’s plan was to travel around different parts of the country then, not missing out on any local specialties to enrich her food stockpile and satisfy her culinary cravings.
