The repeated visits from the Shu family to disturb her had solidified Shu Xin’s decision to move somewhere else.
Having already lived in peace for a while, if they kept showing up to bother her every few days, she’d really snap.
As soon as the three of them left, Shu Xin immediately called the real estate agent handling her house sale and asked them to help find a place near A University with better security, where she could rent an apartment.
Since Shu Xin was their biggest client, the agent worked quickly, recommending three apartments for her to choose from within half an hour.
“Longze Garden… if I remember correctly, Jin Daitui also lives in this neighborhood. That’s the one!”
Shu Xin confirmed the apartment and sent the details to the agent. She arranged to visit in the morning to finalize the paperwork, planning to view the property in the morning and move in by the afternoon.
She packed up everything that wasn’t needed for today into her storage space. If it weren’t so troublesome to take the tiles from the basement, she wouldn’t have left anything behind at all.
This house, filled with memories of the original owner and their parents, wasn’t listed for sale online. She kept it as a memento. However, when the apocalypse came, there was no way this house would survive.
The next morning, Shu Xin got up early, dressed up nicely, and thought that if she happened to run into Yan Mo while viewing the property, she should leave a good first impression.
Her appearance was nearly identical to the original owner, except she had a tear mole at the corner of her right eye, which the original owner didn’t have. It made her look more harmless.
Her appearance was of the soft, cute, and pretty type, with two adorable dimples when she smiled, making her already sweet enough. If she deliberately acted coquettishly, she could melt anyone’s heart.
Because of her appearance and how doting the elders in her family were, whenever she made a mistake or caused trouble, as long as she acted cute and clung to them, she would always “charm” her way out of it. She had become quite skilled at being coquettish.
After making sure her outfit was both practical and stylish, Shu Xin put on a large sun hat and left.
The real estate agent was already waiting for her at the entrance of the neighborhood. Shu Xin followed Xiao Li into the complex, and Xiao Li diligently introduced the neighborhood to her along the way.
Shu Xin responded politely, giving the impression that she was truly listening, which motivated Xiao Li even more. It wasn’t until he finished introducing all the apartments that he had to stop because his throat was dry.
The apartment recommended by the agent was a two-bedroom, one-living-room unit with high-end renovations and complete appliances, ready for immediate move-in.
Shu Xin signed the contract on the spot, paid a year’s worth of rent, and received the keys.
After sending Xiao Li off, Shu Xin immediately called a cleaning lady to help tidy up the apartment while she went out to buy some things. She planned to return with a suitcase to make it look like she had more stuff.
After a busy day, Shu Xin had been hoping to run into her “golden thigh” in the neighborhood, but unfortunately, in her case, the destined meeting between the male and female leads of a novel never happened.
Since she hadn’t run into Yan Mo, she decided to stay home and order takeout. She scrolled through a food delivery app, thinking that after running around all day, she should get something high-calorie to replenish her energy.
Shu Xin would never admit it was just because she was craving food!
She ordered ten of the biggest family meal combos from KFC, along with ten snack buckets. She definitely wouldn’t finish all of it in one sitting, but the leftovers were going to be stored in her space.
Her space had a designated area for storing cooked food because, during the apocalypse, cooking would be inconvenient and the strong smell would attract attention. Stocking up on pre-cooked meals would make things easier.
When the supermarket she had been eyeing was acquired, she had asked the manager to order large shelving units in the supermarket’s name and restock inventory.
Now, all the supplies in her space were neatly organized. She had even divided it into sections like a supermarket, making it easy to find anything later.
Since moving to the new neighborhood, Shu Xin had taken daily walks around hoping to bump into Yan Mo, but she had never succeeded.
One day, when she finally gave up and decided to leave without makeup in her pajamas to buy something from the convenience store, she unexpectedly collided with her “golden thigh” in the most dramatic way.
Yes, you read that right—collided!
Shu Xin had been walking while looking at her phone and didn’t notice she had reached the bottom of her building. She tripped on the stairs, and in her panic, she grabbed onto the person in front of her—Yan Mo, who was also going upstairs. Both of them tumbled down at the entrance of the building.
“Ugh—”
Yan Mo, who was pinned under Shu Xin, felt the pain of his back hitting the stairs, followed by her weight making it worse. He couldn’t help but let out a muffled groan of pain.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it! Are you okay?”
Realizing she had caused trouble, Shu Xin quickly apologized without even lifting her head, and when she heard his pained groan, she scrambled to get off him and help him up.
In her flustered state, when Shu Xin finally saw the person she had knocked down, she froze in place, unable to control herself as she called his name: “Yan Mo…”
“You know me?” Yan Mo quickly got up from the ground and looked at Shu Xin, who was still in the position of trying to help him.
When he saw her face, his eyes darkened for a brief moment before returning to normal.
“I’m Shu Xin, a student at A University. It’s not strange to know a senior, right? I’m really sorry about earlier, are you okay?”
In just a short time, Shu Xin had managed to adjust herself and looked at Yan Mo with genuine concern.
“I’m fine. There doesn’t seem to be any serious problem. But next time, don’t look at your phone while walking. It’s dangerous.”
Yan Mo pushed his gold-rimmed glasses up his nose, his speech calm and measured, and his tone gentle, making people unconsciously trust him.
His appearance was already exceptional, and with his suit from the party and the way he adjusted his glasses, he looked like the perfect gentleman with a hint of charm.
Shu Xin felt like her heart had been pierced by a cupid’s arrow in that moment.
This man was perfect in every way, every part of him aligning with her own preferences, exuding a reserved, cool aura that constantly tested her limited rationality.
Yan Mo quietly observed Shu Xin’s reaction, seemingly unaware of her flustered state. He helped her pick up the things scattered on the ground and accompanied her to the elevator.
