Chacha opened her wardrobe and found a whole line of clothes still with their tags on.
She chose an outfit and changed, then put on some light makeup. When she saw that it was about time, she set off to Huihuang Hotel.
On her way, she stopped by a shopping mall to buy a gift.
After arriving at the hotel, Chacha was led by a staff to the hall where the banquet was being held.
The red carpet, buffet catering, flowers and people raising glasses filled the vast hall. Everyone was well dressed, with smiles on their faces as they gathered together in small groups to chat.
Most of the people there had money, but they weren’t that affluent.
Although the Chen family’s business had developed well, its foundation wasn’t strong enough. They were below the upper class but higher than the lower class. In short, they were in the middle. The people there were similar to the Chen family, not too high or too low in the social caste.
Chacha thought she had come quite early, but she didn’t expect that there were many others who would came earlier than her, thus she could be considered to be late.
She doesn’t know anyone there, including her supposed family in this world.
As such, she didn’t take the initiative to talk to anyone, but took a glass of wine and walked into the crowd casually.
She happened to walk in front of a family of three. The man was in his late fifties and had a proud beer belly. Looking at the whole room, no one had a bigger belly than him.
The woman was younger than him and looked to be in her thirties. She was well-maintained and had a delicate appearance, making her seem young despite her age.
The child was about ten years old and was wearing a suit, looking like a small adult. He was good-looking and quite pleasing to the eye.
“Sister, good evening.” The child smiled at Chacha. “I’m so glad you came.”
Chacha understood that these three people were her ‘family’.
She reached out and touched the child’s head. He felt him dodge for a moment before standing still, his smile a little stiff.
“Hapy birthday, Jiamu.” Chacha smiled and handed him the paper bag in her hand. “Sorry, I just bought a gift for you so I’m a little late.”
“T-thank you……” Chen Jiamu took the gift with a doubtful expression on his young face. But he soon smiled again, “Thank you, Sister!”
Chen Guosheng originally wanted to scold Chen Cha for coming late, but heard that she had gone to buy a gift, so he swallowed his words.
Wang Qihui said with a smile, “We’re family, so you should have just come over. There’s no need for a gift. It’s very kind of you, Xiao Cha.”
But in her mind, Wang Qihui was thinking that if Chen Cha really wanted to give a gift, why not prepare it in advance? Why buy it at the last minute?
“That won’t do.” Chacha shook her head and said, “Children are always happy to receive gifts.”
At that moment, a woman stepped in and patted Chacha on the shoulder while saying, “Xiao Cha really likes Jiamu very much. She’s sensible.”
Chacha glanced at the woman, who was probably the novel Chen Cha’s mother, Wei Siyun.
Wang Qihui smiled silently. It was unsure whether she agreed with the statement or not.
Chen Guosheng smiled heartily and said, “Good child, this is how a family should be.”
Chacha beamed.
That sentence doesn’t sound like what a real family member would say. If they were really close, why emphasize these little things?
The few of them exchanged pleasantries for a while, then Wang Qihui took Chen Jiamu to eat, Wei Siyun ran to chat with her friends and Chen Guosheng left to converse with several business people, leaving Chacha standing alone.
She went for a drink and a bite to eat.
No one approached to talk to her, but many went to Chen Jiamu, as if Chen Jiamu was the legitimate child of the Chen family.
She was being deliberately ignored.
Chacha didn’t care. She was thinking of an excuse to ask Chen Guosheng for money in a way that would make him feel okay with it.
About ten minutes later, Chen Guosheng walked up to Chen Cha’s side.
“Dad.” Chacha called.
“Mm.” Chen Guosheng’s smile faded and he asked imposingly, “How was your time at school?”
“Good.” Chacha replied with a smile.
Chen Guosheng nodded and pondered for a while before saying, “You should go abroad for college. It’s good for young people to see more of the world.”
Chacha shook her head and said, “No, foreign food isn’t as good as our own. I’m not used to eating it.”
Chen Guosheng wasn’t doing this for Chen Cha’s benefit at all.
Most people who go abroad to study had some money at home, majority of them were nouveau riche and few were from truly elite families. A lot of them go there to laze away and they would even learn bad things.
Others were still fine. But with Chen Cha’s almost non-existent intelligence, it’s guaranteed that she’d be influenced by the wrong crowd.
Chen Guosheng intentionally wanted Chen Cha to learn bad things and become a good-for-nothing.
Seeing that she actually dared to be disobedient, Chen Guosheng’s expression immediately dropped. He couldn’t get angry because there were a lot of guests, so he just lowered his voice to show that he was displeased and said, “Dad is doing it for your own good. Who else will care about you like this except me?”
Chacha said flatly, “But I just don’t want to endure hardship. I want to live an easy life. Like those amazing people, I want others to do everything for me.”
These words pleased Chen Guosheng, who only wanted Chen Cha to be a loafer, and his complexion improved.
Chacha took advantage of the situation and added, “But I’ve been very vexed recently. The L brand has released several new bags and all my friends have them. I’m the only one who doesn’t. It’s super embarrassing.”
Chen Guosheng saw that her head was only full of luxury goods and was very disdainful. But the stupider she was, the more relieved he becomes, so he smiled and said, “I’ll have my assistant transfer you money later. Buy whatever you want. As my daughter, you don’t have to worry about not having enough money.”
Chacha showed a happy smile.
But inwardly, she was sneering. They‘re both biological children but they were treated differently just because of their different genders.
This father was really ‘qualified’.
Chen Guosheng’s mistress and son happened to be coming at this time. When they heard Chen Cha talking about buying a bag again, they were angry and resentful. Wang Qihui felt that it was all her money. Chen Cha spending money was equivalent to her having less money.
Chen Jiamu was feeling disdainful. This person who was related to him by blood was really foolish.
Chacha lowered her head to drink and her eyes moved towards Chen Jiamu. Seeing his disdainful expression, she gave him a cold look.
Chen Jiamu was taken aback. He didn’t expect Chen Cha to have two faces. One second she was smiling and giving him gifts, and the next second she was eyeing him coldly.
He froze for a moment before putting down the drink in his hand and hiding behind Wang Qihui tremblingly.
Wang Qihui worriedly asked, “What’s wrong, Jiamu? Is the drink too cold and made your stomach feel uncomfortable?”
“Sister…… Sister……” Chen Jiamu said intermittently, with a scared and nervous expression on his face.
Wang Qihui asked, “Your sister is what?”
“I’m afraid to say……”
Wang Qihui gave Chen Guosheng a resigned look and he furrowed his brows. “Jiamu, if you have something to say, just say it, no need to be afraid.”
The people nearby heard a little bit of their conversation and realized that there might be a family problem. However, they didn’t move away and only pretended not to notice a thing. All of them pricked up their ears to listen.
This Chen Guosheng was indeed unreasonable when it comes to family issues.
The birthday of his illegitimate son was much better organized than his daughter’s, and even his wife and mistress were both in attendance. It’s all good and well, but anyone with a discerning eye could see that he was clearly trying to lift up his illegitimate son while stepping down on his daughter.
How could they not listen to gossip when it’s the source of human happiness?
Chen Jiamu got his father’s permission and said cautiously, “Sister glared at me. It’s so terrifying……”
Chen Guosheng angrily glared at Chen Cha.
Chacha was stunned for a moment. A trace of bewilderment appeared on her youthful and beautiful face and then it gradually converged as her brows became slightly wrinkled. There was a sad and aggrieved emotion in her eyes.
Chen Guosheng’s anger was extinguished halfway.
He knew his daughter’s character very well. She’s arrogant and flamboyant. If she really didn’t do anything, she would never falsely admit it.
She looked so sad right now. Could it be that Jiamu was making it up?
Chacha defended, “I didn’t. It’s just that my eyes are big so it appears like I’m glaring.”
When passersby heard Chen Cha’s words, they inwardly thought that this type of self-praise was acceptable.
Chen Jiamu’s brows furrowed and his mouth flattened before he burst into tears. He sobbed while saying, “It’s true, I didn’t lie.”
Chacha half squatted down to looked Chen Jiamu squarely. “Jiamu, you probably think I don’t like you, but that’s not the case. I’ve always felt lonely because both of my parents are very busy and I’m always alone at home. But even if I miss them so much, I can only endure it. It wasn’t until you arrive that I felt like the house has finally become lively. It’s just that I didn’t know how to express myself before and even misunderstood you. Taking this opportunity, I want to tell you that I like you very much because you’re my younger brother and my family. However, I have no experience with having a sibling, so I might do the wrong things. I’m also not very good at expressing my emotions and might look a bit fierce. But believe me, I definitely don’t hate you.”
Who doesn’t know how to act like a white lotus? When she was pretending to be one, this little while lotus boy wasn’t even born yet.
Chen Jiamu stared at Chen Cha blankly.
Chen Cha hated him. He knew it from the very first time they met. Her disdainful and condescending look stung his already oversensitive self-esteem and made him extremely resentful.
He couldn’t wait for her to die.
But at this moment, her expression was so sincere.
She’s very beautiful. This was something he knew from the beginning. With skin that look as soft as gelatin, a youthful air, and pure and delicate facial features, even though he was only ten years old, he was amazed the first time he saw her.
Right now, her beautiful eyes were full of sincerity and tenderness, as if a clear spring could flow out of them.
He began to question if he had really misunderstood Chen Cha’s opinion of him.

Yeah why should hate an unrelated bad kid?
Although I do hope she teaches the kid morals because he’s not going to learn anything except how to be a scumbag and that’s bad for society.
