Chacha was a little sad about it, but more so thankful.
If it wasn’t for Jiao Yushi being a genius, Chacha would have been even busier. Thanks to his extraordinary talent and eagerness to help.
As the saying goes, don’t be afraid of a powerful opponent, but beware of a lousy teammate.
Chacha was quite pleased with Jiao Yushi, this teammate who wasn’t lousy at all.
Meanwhile, the live stream platform was developing well. In comparison, the busiest people were still the employees, not Chen Cha.
But it was because Chen Cha hired them to share her burdens.
In order to free up more time, she recruited a number of new employees.
One could never have too many excellent employees as well as great staffs who have a team spirit.
Without her realizing, a month has already passed since the start of the school year.
After Chacha finished her backlog of work, she could finally stop staying up late and getting up earlier than the chickens.
She resumed her routine of going to bed at 11 pm, getting up at 6 am, as well as taking a nap at noon.
During this period, Ning An, who only accepts good scripts, had a lot of free time. She only took on one movie after school started.
As soon as Ning An took over the role, it was time for another plot point. Chacha had to make things difficult for Ning An again.
She had discovered that as long as Ning An feels she’s in a quandary, her task could be considered as a pass. She just have to ensure that Ning An would feel comforted afterwards. Chacha now felt that this was much easier and that she could solve it easily.
So Chacha didn’t do too much. After learning about Ning An’s itinerary, she made Ning An come to the company to help her handle some documents in her spare time.
Only when Ning An arrived did she remembered to resist and asked, “But aren’t I not an artist? Why do I have to do clerical work?”
Chacha smiled coldly. “I want you to.”
Ning An: “囧”
After a while, Ning An added, “I still can’t figure out why.”
“I just like to suppress you. I like seeing your suffocated expression when you hate me but can’t do anything about it. You can interpret it as an evil hobby.” Chacha continued, “Or you can also interpret it as me using my position to bully others.”
Ning An: “……” Alright, wasn’t she used to Chen Cha acting crazy?
Ning An felt that Chen Cha was a young person with a lot on her plate, so it was understandable that she would go crazy under all the pressure. Anyway, every time Chen Cha did something, it turned out to be nothing. She’d just put up with it and it would pass.
The supervisor system prompted, 〖Chacha, Ning An doesn’t think you‘re bullying her, you have to be more fierce.〗
Chacha glanced at Ning An. This girl, her personality was so soft that it makes people want to pick on her. No wonder she always attracted villains.
Who doesn’t like picking and squeezing soft persimmons[1]pick to bully the weak? Not to mention that they feel good when squeezed.
“Ning An.” Chacha pointed to a pile of documents about one foot high and said, “If you can’t sort this out within an hour, you’ll be docked half a month’s pay.”
Ning An complained, “Ahhh, no, I’m extremely broke.”
Only when it came to wages would Ning An’s emotions fluctuate greatly.
Chacha showed a devilish smile. “Then do your best.”
As a result, Ning An wasn’t able to sort everything out. Chen Cha immediately called the accounting department and told them to deduct half a month’s pay from Ning An, who was dumbfounded. She didn’t expect Chen Cha to really do it. The thought of her pay being deducted brought her to tears.
In the following days, Ning An was feeling down.
Chacha uncounted Yan Shanmei in the company corridor and the other party said meaningfully, “President Xiao Cha, Ning An is a good child.”
Chacha smiled. “It’s almost the end of the month, isn’t it?”
Yan Shanmei was puzzled, but still nodded and said, “Yes.”
“Take good care of Ning An.”
At the end of the month, Yan Shanmei finally knew why Chen Cha mentioned the end of the month, because when the pay was given, the part deducted from Ning An was returned in the form of a bonus. And there’s even an extra amount added.
Ning An was happy, guilty, and speechless all at the same time. She felt that she had been sad these past few days for nothing, blamed Chen Cha’s crazy personality for nothing, and felt hurt for nothing.
She had no idea whether to laugh or cry. She couldn’t help but ask, “Sister Yan, is Chacha teasing— No, playing— No— Why does it sound weirder and weirder?”
Yan Shanmei touched her head lovingly and said, “Working isn’t easy. Don’t worry about it.”
After that, Chacha put the matter of Ning An behind. The fact that she didn’t go back in time meant that her method worked. Doing it this way in the future could save her a lot of trouble.
Jiao Yushi knew everything about Chen Cha’s affairs. They both have the same major, lived across each other, and were also business partners, so it was difficult no to be informed.
As soon as Chacha was free, Jiao Yushi asked her to go out and eat, saying that she still owed him nine meals back from the New Year.
She indulged him and invited him to a midnight snack as well.
Jiao Yushi was driving and Chacha was sitting in the passenger seat. While waiting for the red light to turn green, Chacha saw Ning An’s face on a huge billboard. Cheerful have a lot of money and even its non-mainstream products were well promoted, which made Ning An’s reputation increased.
Jiao Yushi asked, “Chen Chacha’s causing trouble for you again. How are you going to deal with her?”
Chacha withdrew her gaze and asked, “Do you know Chen Yingge?”
Chen Yingge was Chen Chacha’s older brother, that was, ‘Chen Cha’, this body’s, true family.
Jiao Yushi said, “I do. Tell me your plans so I can look forward to the future a bit.”
Chacha told him, “Invite him to dinner. I’ll be your female companion.”
“Although Chen Yingge doesn’t come home often and his relationship with Chen Chacha can’t be said to be that close, but in the end, he’s still Chen Chacha’s older brother. The Chen family cares about blood relations. If you take his path, you may be disappointed. It’s better to ask me for help.”
“I have a brilliant plan.” Chacha said with a smile, “Haven’t you always been quite trusting to me? Just continue trusting me this time as well.”
Jiao Yushi shrugged and smiled, noncommittal.
After having late night snack, on the way back, Chacha asked Jiao Yushi to make an appointment with Chen Yingge and to tell her the time in advance, so she could arrange her schedule.
Jiao Yushi nodded in response.
———pr
The next morning, Chacha received a text message from Jiao Yushi, saying he had set an appointment that evening.
Highly efficient.
Chacha was very satisfied and told her assistant, Ding Puyu, that she was going out for dinner later and instructed him to turn down anyone that wanted to make an appointment for that evening.
Ding Puyu naturally nodded, indicating that he understood.
Of course, Chacha wasn’t meeting Chen Yingge for dinner to tell him her identity.
To be honest, she hasn’t yet decided whether to recognize them as family or not. If the Chen family members have bad characters and were arbitrary, then recognizing them would only cause trouble for herself. For her to do so, she first needed to determine the Chen family’s character, personality and habits. After making sure that the other side wouldn’t cause her trouble, only then would she go ahead and recognize them as family.
There were very few descriptions of the Chen’s in the original work, so she had to find time to observe them first.
Being observant was necessary. After all, there were all kinds of people in this world and there’s no telling how they would react upon the return of a biological child. Despite knowing that they were raising someone else’s child, because they had been raising them as their own, some might find it to be a frustrating setback.
But that’s only secondary. The main thing was that she wanted to use this opportunity to anger the fake Chen Chacha.
Who let the fake Chen Chacha have to go on with the plot? For the sake of a complete and perfectly relaxed and happy life in the future, Chacha planned to endure it for now and just give the other party a little trouble.
At seven in the evening, Chacha and Jiao Yushi went to the appointed restaurant together.
“My excuse for asking him to dinner is a collaboration project.” Jiao Yushi added, “There’s no need to know more about this aspect since you’re acting as my female companion. You only need to smile on the side from time to time. But if you have something to say to him, just find an opportunity to talk to him yourself.”
“En.” Chacha nodded and said, “That identity is very much to my liking.”
When they arrived at the front door of the restaurant, Chacha took Jiao Yushi’s arm and they entered the establishment together. Under the guidance of a waiter, they got to the reserved table.
Chen Yingge came earlier and was already seated.
Seeing Chen Cha and Jiao Yushi arrive, Chen Yingge stood up, nodded at them in greeting, and the three of them sat down together.
Chacha observed him casually.
Chen Yingge should be about 1.8 meters tall and has a relatively strong physique, but because he’s wearing a suit, it wasn’t very obvious. Well, his appearance was that sunny and handsome type, with thick eyebrows, big eyes, a high nose, red lips and white teeth. He looks particularly innocent when he smiles, however, his eyes were slightly cold, and so he appeared reserved, without the energetic and familiar feeling of ordinary young people.
Jiao Yushi and Chen Yingge chatted about everything, from the weather to politics, and from politics to ideals. After talking for a while, they finally got to the point.
The collaboration project between the two was about organizing a sports event. Chacha didn’t have much knowledge about this matter, so she ate obediently on the side while occasionally nodding and showing an expression of appreciation. She’s quite a qualified female companion.
Chatting with them while eating as a form of socializing was obviously a bit unsuitable, but if they’re just out to eat, then talking about work was a bit too much.
Chacha felt that Jiao Yushi just wanted to get things done, and Chen Yingge probably had the same idea as him, otherwise he wouldn’t have come alone without bringing his assistant.
The two chatted for a long time. After Chacha had eaten her fill, Jiao Yushi glanced at her.
Chacha smiled at him, and that was when her phone rang.
“Excuse me, I’m going to take this.” Chacha stood up with an apologetic smile. The two men naturally smiled back and nodded, and she went to a deserted place to answer the phone.
A low-pitched male voice came from the other end, “President Xiao Cha, I’ve already done what you’ve instructed.”
“Mm, got it.”
After hanging up, Chacha returned to her seat and sat down. The three of them continued to eat together.
Jiao Yushi and Chen Yingge had almost finished their discussion and was just now having small talks. Chacha also joined in. The three of them talked about things that had nothing to do with business at all. They chatted about music, famous paintings and other things.
They hadn’t been chatting for long when Chen Yingge’s phone started ringing. He paused.
“Excuse me, I’m going to take a call.”
“Go ahead.”
Chen Yingge walked away and Chacha watched him with a smile on her lips.
When Jiao Yushi looked at her, there’s a hidden happiness in her eyes which was different from her usual business smile. She was truly pleased.
He guessed that Chen Cha probably knew whose call Chen Yingge was answering, and the reason she knew must have something to do with the call she just had taken.
Because he had been paying special attention to Chen Cha for a long time, despite her calmness, he could see some of Chen Cha’s habits and the subtle differences in her expression.
Although her behaved no differently than usual, after answering the phone call, she began to exude a faint sense of joy. And when Chen Yingge answered the call, that joy reached its peak.
