Chapter 10: The Princess Carry
When actors are filming, there’s indeed something called “getting boxed meals.”
This is because once they get busy, they truly race against time. Big-name actors typically have meals delivered to them or dine directly at restaurants during breaks.
For regular actors, however, eating the boxed meals provided by the crew is both convenient and cost-effective, as it’s covered by the production.
It was Yue Yuze’s first time witnessing actors eating boxed meals.
And they seemed to be enjoying them immensely.
“Boss…” Fan Bei called softly.
The reason? Boss… had been staring at Tang Xin downstairs, who was among the group squatting in the lounge eating boxed meals… for quite some time.
Yes, Tang Xin.
Of all the people in the room, the boss only knew Ms. Tang and her agent, Qi Shu.
Yue Yuze’s gaze locked onto the woman below—a little food-loving cat who, after finishing the chicken wing in her own meal, went on to snatch the one from Qi Shu’s bowl.
Qi Shu dutifully moved the chicken wing into her bowl, watching her eat with a satisfied smile.
Yue Yuze narrowed his phoenix-shaped eyes slightly and slowly looked away. “Fan Bei, starting tomorrow… every boxed meal for the White Collar crew must include three chicken wings.”
Fan Bei: …
Frozen.
Utterly frozen.
By the time he snapped out of it, the boss had already turned and left, prompting him to hastily follow.
Boss, even if you’re loaded, that’s not how you spend money! Adding two extra chicken wings to every crew member’s meal for every shoot will cost quite a lot, you know!!
And spoiling your future wife shouldn’t be this extravagant, right…?
–
As a minor character, Tang Xin wrapped up her scenes with a flourish after the latter half of White Collar.
On the final day, she had twelve scenes from morning until night. The longest scene lasted no more than ten minutes, while the shortest was just 43 seconds. However, for a small actor like her, she could only wait around for the big stars—waiting at least half an hour between takes, and sometimes up to two hours.
That evening, her boxed meal suddenly included two fragrant chicken wings.
Starving to the point of almost doubling over, Tang Xin was delighted to see the extra chicken wings!
“Ashu, I’m not stealing your chicken wings this time!”
Qi Shu reached over to ruffle her slightly disheveled hair. “It’s fine. If you want more, just eat up.”
The two sat together on chairs in the lounge, holding boxed meals worth just over 20 yuan, yet savoring them as if they were the finest delicacies. Their expressions radiated happiness and satisfaction.
Standing nearby, Fan Bei watched nervously as his boss forcibly crushed the cigarette in his hand… into a mangled roll.
“…”
Boss, you’ve been watching Ms. Tang all day!
At around 10 p.m., Tang Xin finally finished her last scene, utterly exhausted and starving. Thankfully, Qi Shu had bought her some late-night snacks earlier.
She was so tired after the long day that she could barely stand.
“Ah, finally heading home. I’m going to sleep straight through until tomorrow afternoon!”
Back when she was a web novelist and not an 18th-tier actress, she often did just that.
She was confident she could sleep like a pig!
“Alright, take a good rest tomorrow. You wait here while I get the car and drive you home,” Qi Shu said, gently patting her head before striding off.
However, he had barely taken a few steps before a man approached them head-on.
Yue Yuze.
“President Yue, it’s quite late. You…”
Yue Yuze’s gaze bypassed Qi Shu entirely, landing directly on the woman trudging slowly toward them. Only when she got closer did he glance at Qi Shu. “You’ve worked hard today, Mr. Qi. I just finished up as well. I’ll take her home, so you should head back early and rest.”
Qi Shu frowned slightly and instinctively looked at Tang Xin.
Tang Xin glanced at the two of them and decided Yue Yuze made sense.
Since he didn’t mind her taking his car, it worked out well. Qi Shu had spent the entire day helping her, staying alert in case she was called. While she even got a nap on a bench earlier, Qi Shu hadn’t rested at all.
“Ashu, you should head back. I’ll take President Yue’s car home. Drive carefully on your way.”
Qi Shu looked at her and said, “Alright. Just make sure to get a good sleep. Call me if anything comes up.”
“Got it.” She waved at him with a smile.
Qi Shu turned and left.
Tang Xin happily trailed behind Yue Yuze, keeping a safe distance from him. The area was less crowded now, but someone might still recognize Yue Yuze.
When the car pulled up, Tang Xin and Yue Yuze entered one after the other. She immediately moved to open the front passenger door… but before she could pull it open, a hand pressed down on hers.
“Sit in the back,” Yue Yuze said.
“Oh.” She quickly withdrew her hand and headed for the rear seat.
She assumed Yue Yuze preferred the front seat…
After all, some people simply liked sitting up front when riding in a car.
But just as she settled into the back seat, the other rear door opened… and Yue Yuze got in and sat beside her.
“Y-you… why are you sitting here too?”
Yue Yuze looked at her, his gaze as cold and emotionless as water. “What? It’s my car. I can sit wherever I like. Got a problem?”
“Nope.” How could she dare?
But big boss, aren’t you supposed to maintain a three-meter distance from me?
Big boss… you’ve changed!
Princeton’s Audi, priced at over 400,000 yuan, was considered a luxury car for someone like Tang Xin, who lived frugally.
But after riding in the ultimate luxury car worth millions—a Rolls-Royce Phantom owned by Mr. Yue—her perspective shifted entirely. The world of the wealthy was beyond imagination, even for someone like her, who had once “created” this car for Yue Yuze in her novels. What was once a figment of her imagination was now something she got to experience firsthand.
Ah, the bliss.
The drive was long, and as she reveled in the luxury, she gradually drifted off to sleep without realizing it.
The dusk faded into night, neon lights illuminated the surroundings, and the streets were lined with glowing silver trees. The bustling cityscape revealed its vibrant allure.
Yue Yuze sat beside her, gazing at the passing scenery, determined to ignore the soft figure leaning against him. Her warmth brushed against him as she unknowingly pressed closer in her sleep.
When the car approached an intersection and came to a gentle stop, the unbalanced sway caused Tang Xin, who was fast asleep, to tilt sideways. Just as she was about to slump over completely, Yue Yuze instinctively reached out and steadied her by the waist, his hand landing on the delicate curve with its incredibly soft texture.
“Mmhh…” she murmured groggily, half-opening her sleepy eyes and breathing deeply. Her half-asleep face pressed against his arm, squishing her cheeks comically and leaving her rosy lips slightly puckered. She looked irresistibly adorable.
Yue Yuze’s gaze darkened as he watched her, his expression becoming increasingly profound.
Under the spell of temptation, he slowly leaned down toward her…
But just as his lips brushed against her bangs and tickled him slightly, he snapped back to reality.
Quickly pulling away, he turned his attention back to the window. His hand, however, remained fixed on her waist, as if glued there.
Tang Xin was utterly exhausted and fell into a deep sleep, the kind that follows complete physical weariness. Deep sleep often comes with vivid dreams, and she was no exception.
Her dream was delightfully fragrant—she was savoring a perfectly roasted duck, golden and glistening, fresh from the oven. The crispy skin crackled as she took a hefty bite of a juicy drumstick, the tender meat bursting with flavor. The aroma was intoxicating, and it surpassed even the chicken wings from the film crew.
She sucked in her saliva with relish.
Yue Yuze glanced down at the sleeping woman, whose face bore a mysterious smile accompanied by a gleaming trail of drool.
His brow twitched, and for a moment, he felt he should push her away without hesitation.
That would be the rational choice.
But by the time he came to his senses, he had already taken out a tissue and gently wiped the drool from her lips.
In disbelief at his own actions, he threw the tissue aside as though it burned his hand. Then, distancing her limp body from his arm, he watched as she slumped against the seat. The warmth left on his fingers felt like a jolt of electricity—tingling and heating his chest with an unfamiliar sensation.
He disliked this feeling immensely.
And yet, it surged like a feral beast, unstoppable and overwhelming.
For the next half hour or so, Yue Yuze allowed the woman to lie awkwardly to the side, without making any move to touch her again. It was as if, as long as he stayed away from her and didn’t touch her, then… he would still be the same Yue Yuze as before.
The version of him who had never bothered to remember her face or cared about her in any meaningful way.
But was he still that person?
The car drove into the villa, gradually slowing down as it passed the long driveway. It circled around the fountain in the middle of the yard, then turned into the front yard of the villa and slowly came to a stop.
The family butler approached, opening the door to greet Yue Yuze.
The butler had watched Yue Yuze grow up, serving the family since he was a child. Though Yue Yuze had grown independent, he remained as distant as ever, rarely allowing anyone close to him.
But tonight…
When the car door opened, the butler spotted Tang Xin slumped in the backseat.
“Young Master, Miss Tang…” the butler began hesitantly, glancing at Yue Yuze. “Don’t worry; we’ll help Miss Tang to her room.”
The butler motioned for the staff. “Qiangzi, Minzi, come over and—”
“No need,” Yue Yuze interrupted calmly.
Walking around to the other side of the car, he opened the door himself and scooped up the sleeping woman in his arms.
Tang Xin, nestled in his embrace, looked like a small, contented piglet as he carried her into the villa with a perfect princess carry.
The butler stood frozen in place, struggling to process what he had just witnessed.
Minutes later, he glanced up at the sky, muttering to himself: “Looks like we’re in for a thunderstorm tomorrow. A storm this big has got to mean something.”
After all, the young master—someone who would barely tolerate others touching him—had just carried Tang Xin inside himself.
The butler couldn’t make sense of it. Just yesterday, the young master had strictly warned him not to let Tang Yun cross paths with Lin Shiyin. And now, he was treating Tang Xin… differently.
What had happened in the past 24 hours?
Clutching his head in frustration, the butler muttered, “This is going to drive me bald!”
But whatever the reason, the change in the young master was undeniable.
