Chapter 14: Buying Medication
After breakfast, Tang Xin received a call from Qi Shu, asking her to head to the 16th-floor conference room at Guangzhong Tower for the cast meeting of Under the Sky.
This meeting was mandatory for all actors who passed the audition shortlist. They would be given scripts for their respective roles to prepare for the upcoming auditions.
Qi Shu said, “Tang Tang, I’ll be talking to Director Liang about something. You can take a cab and come over on your own.”
Tang Xin readily agreed.
After checking the time, she went back to her room to apply light makeup.
Tang Xin’s skin was naturally flawless, which made makeup application effortless. Combined with her innate beauty, she looked stunning in minutes. She picked out a red floral long dress to wear. Her fair skin made the floral pattern stand out, enhancing her radiant appearance. However, she struggled to find suitable shoes to match.
In the end, she settled on a pair of shiny silver-gray high heels, though she still felt the combination didn’t quite work.
Unfortunately, her collection of clothes and shoes was limited.
The reason? Poverty.
Although she had received over 300,000 yuan in pocket money from Yue Yuze in the three months since their marriage, Tang Xin had been frugal. She’d only bought a few decent outfits, and even two pairs of her shoes had been “sponsored” by Qi Shu.
Timing it perfectly, she came downstairs, ready to leave. In the yard, she saw Yue Yuze standing beside his car. He glanced at her and asked, “Heading to Guangzhong?”
Short for Guangzhong Tower.
“Yes,” she nodded eagerly.
Yue Yuze got into the car. “I have business in that area. Get in.”
Overjoyed, Tang Xin practically skipped over to the car.
This time, she slid into the seat beside Yue Yuze with practiced ease.
It was early morning, and the traffic flowed slowly due to the rush hour. Tang Xin’s attention was caught by a hospital advertisement on a passing van, which displayed two large banners:
“The best obstetrics and gynecology hospital in Beijing, without a doubt!”
“Painless abortion, providing you with the best experience and resolving your problems!”
Tang Xin: “…”
Her mind suddenly replayed last night’s events with Yue Yuze.
She turned her head to look at the cold man sitting beside her, absorbed in his documents.
Sensing her gaze, Yue Yuze slowly raised his eyes. His sharp brows furrowed slightly as he asked indifferently, “What is it?”
She glanced nervously around, then scooted closer to him—inch by inch, hesitatingly approaching him until she was right beside him, her delicate face tilted toward his.
Throughout the process, Yue Yuze remained cold-eyed, observing her every move. The faint scent of her perfume wafted over. Even without the wine aroma from the previous night, her natural fragrance was just as intoxicating.
For a moment, he imagined her soft lips pressing against his, light and tender like clouds and water, just like last night.
His breathing grew unconsciously heavier.
Swallowing hard, his Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. A wave of dryness spread through his mouth and throat.
Yue Yuze had always prided himself on his self-control, but in front of this woman, he realized how fragile his resolve truly was.
Frowning deeply, he raised his hand and pushed her away. “What are you doing?”
“I need to talk to you,” she replied mysteriously, lowering her voice.
Yue Yuze stared at her coolly. “We’re in the car. There’s no one else here. Just say what you need to say!”
Tang Xin hesitated. “I mean… I’m a woman. It’s not something I can just say out loud, is it?”
A woman?
He narrowed his eyes, as if guessing what she wanted to say. A faint smirk played on his lips, but he quickly suppressed the inexplicable trace of joy in his heart.
Looking away, he pretended to be indifferent, his deep voice carrying an imperceptible gentleness. “It’s fine… Go ahead.”
“Alright,” Tang Xin glanced at the driver ahead, her cheeks flushing slightly.
Yue Yuze appeared composed, looking straight ahead, but he couldn’t help sneaking glances at the woman beside him.
Seeing her shy expression and bashful demeanor, an inexplicable warmth coursed through him, like a refreshing spring bubbling to life.
It was both soothing and… sweet.
Tang Xin bit her lip, steeling herself. “President Yue, I just wanted to ask… Last night, when we… slept together, did you… use protection?”
Yue Yuze froze, his entire body stiffening. Even the slight curve at the corner of his lips froze.
He slowly, very slowly, turned his head, looking at Tang Yun with an expression that screamed disbelief. His gaze was so sharp it could slice through steel.
The driver in front trembled, his grip on the steering wheel faltering. I think I just overheard a major secret…
Tang Xin, sensing Yue Yuze’s intense stare, became flustered. “Was I… too loud?”
The car was silent—deathly silent.
Swallowing hard, she muttered awkwardly, “But you told me to just say it, didn’t you?”
Yue Yuze’s lips twitched as his face turned an alarming shade of blue. So, it’s my fault now?!
After a long pause, he looked down at his documents again.
He needed a moment.
Tang Xin glanced at him and sighed inwardly.
See, this is why women must protect themselves. Men only care about their own pleasure. They’re all the same—big, selfish jerks!
If he didn’t use protection, sure, it felt good for him, but now she had to take the morning-after pill. How unfair was that?
Then again, she couldn’t entirely blame Yue Yuze.
As a cold and abstinent male lead, he probably didn’t expect anything to happen with her, his “contract wife.” It made sense that he wouldn’t have been prepared.
So… she could only consider herself unlucky.
She withdrew her gaze and suddenly noticed a pharmacy ahead. Quickly, she said, “Stop in front—near that pharmacy. Find a spot to pull over.”
Since the pharmacy wasn’t far and the area was a commercial district with designated roadside parking spaces, the driver maneuvered the car to a spot and parked.
Tang Xin swiftly stepped out of the car. “Please wait for me for a moment, Yue Zong. I’ll be quick… really quick.”
The driver hesitated and then muttered, “Young Master… is the Young Madam going to buy… that kind of medicine?”
The driver’s words served as a reminder. Yue Yuze suddenly realized what was going on, and his handsome face turned dark.
True to Tang Xin’s word, she returned quickly with the medicine, a bottle of mineral water in hand. Once back in the car, she placed the water bottle aside, pulled out a box of pills she’d just bought, and retrieved a tablet.
The name was clear: Yuting.
As she pressed out a pill and reached for the water to take it, her hand was suddenly empty. The pill, along with the box and all its contents, was snatched away by the man beside her. In one swift motion, Yue Yuze tossed the entire box out the car window.
Conveniently, there was a trash can right by the parking space.
Yue Zong’s aim was impeccable—everything landed directly in the trash can.
Tang Xin froze for a moment before glaring at him furiously. “What are you doing?”
Yue Yuze’s face was dark, his eyes cold as he stared at her, his thin lips pressed tightly together. He didn’t say a word.
“Fine, it’s my fault for being reckless after drinking last night, but you’re no better! You couldn’t control yourself and slept with me. Now, you can’t make me suffer further, can you? They say painless abortions don’t hurt, but it must still be torture, right?” Tang Xin vented angrily.
As she finished, she opened the car door, ready to step out and buy the medicine again.
But just as her hand touched the door handle, the man’s strong grip yanked her back.
His voice was icy. “Old Zhang, drive!”
“Yes… yes, Young Master!” The driver, flustered, immediately started the car and drove off at top speed.
“Yue Yuze, you bastard!”
“You don’t need to take the pill,” Yue Yuze said through gritted teeth. “Don’t worry—you won’t get pregnant!”
“What?” Tang Xin looked up at him. “So… you did use…”
“I didn’t!”
No protection… yet he was certain she wouldn’t…
“Then, did you… uh… you know… pull ou—”
“Shut up!” Yue Yuze’s face turned an alarming shade of blue, veins bulging on his forehead. He was absolutely enraged.
What kind of nonsense was this woman spouting?!
Fearing he might lose control and strangle her, he pushed her away.
Tang Xin, pushed back, leaned against the soft car seat, her eyes fixed on him.
Ah… so the male lead is… incapable?
But wait, she hadn’t written the male lead as infertile!
Could the storyline have changed?
How tragic…
“If you keep overthinking, I’ll break your neck!” Yue Yuze growled, his lips twitching violently.
This woman wore her ridiculous thoughts on her face!
“Isn’t that the case?” she asked tentatively.
The man shot her a glare so icy and fierce that she shrank back, raising her hands in a gesture of surrender. “I’m just saying… it’s better to be cautious, right? What if something happens? Even though they say painless abortions don’t hurt, having a baby and then terminating it is a heartbreaking matter. At that stage, the baby already has life. I don’t support abortions, but I can’t exactly keep the baby either… After all, we’re getting divorced in a few months…”
Before she could finish, her words were cut off.
The man reached out and pinched her face fiercely.
Her delicate lips were squished into an odd shape.
Wide-eyed, she stared at him.
“Tang Xin, listen to me carefully,” Yue Yuze said with a cold sneer, his handsome face dark and menacing, his tone chilling and laced with fury. “If you ever get pregnant with my child… and you dare harm them, I’ll kill you!”
