Chapter 19: He Doesn’t Like Me
“What’s wrong? How did I even annoy him?” Tang Xin lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, puzzled. She couldn’t help asking Little Beauty, “Little Beauty, do you know what’s going on with this male lead?”
Little Beauty remained silent.
Just when Tang Xin thought it wouldn’t respond, its voice echoed in her mind:
“Nothing… This is probably the normal reaction when facing a foolish woman.”
Tang Xin: “…” Don’t think I don’t know you’re insulting me!
“You’re wrong. I failed to seduce him and ended up annoying him.” She rolled over, got out of bed, and asked, “By the way, does this count as completing the mission?”
Little Beauty’s voice chimed in:
Ding! “Congratulations, book transmigrator, for successfully completing the mission. You’ve earned a random reward package. Would you like to open it now?”
“Open it.”
It felt like drawing a lottery—exciting and full of anticipation!
“The package has been unwrapped. You’ve received a one-time golden finger skill.”
“The skill’s usage and effects are as follows: By touching the other person’s body—anywhere—if you summon me and say to use the golden finger, you’ll immediately know their current thoughts.”
“Remember, it’s a one-time use only.”
Tang Xin nodded. “Oh, so as long as I touch them, I’ll know what they’re thinking at that moment?”
Little Beauty: “Exactly.”
“That’s amazing! Oh, by the way, Little Beauty, how do I return to my world? Didn’t you say I needed to complete tasks? What’s the task?”
Little Beauty: “I am assigning tasks to you now. They are critical to your return, so please complete each one diligently. Strive to uncover the answer package to return to your original world as soon as possible.”
“Once I open that package, I’ll know what tasks I need to complete to go back?”
Little Beauty: “Precisely.”
“And you don’t know either?”
Little Beauty: “I know, but I can’t tell you. Otherwise, both you and I will face severe punishment.”
Tang Xin: “…” Great. You may take your leave now!
It seemed she would have to stay in this world for quite some time.
“Fine. Don’t give me any more missions to seduce the male lead. He doesn’t like me.”
Little Beauty didn’t respond.
Tang Xin figured the system had escaped again.
She went to the dressing room, changed out of her pajamas, and put on a more formal outfit. Even so, standing in front of the mirror, she couldn’t help but notice…
“Wow, this is really revealing! I look so good, and Yue Yuze still rejected me… He really doesn’t like me!”
This skin, this figure, these curves… I’m practically a goddess.
Standing in front of the mirror, she touched her chin thoughtfully. “If he doesn’t like me, then what happened that night? Did he drink too much and lose control?”
After pondering for a while, she concluded that this explanation made sense.
Drinking always causes trouble!
But Yue Yuze’s wine… it was so delicious…
She decided she must find an opportunity to drink it again!
On this silent, beautiful night, slow-motion memories replayed in her mind. Like an addictive poison, they were both intoxicating and mesmerizing.
Meanwhile, the carefree one slept soundly.
The one who had been teased, even after two cold showers, still tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep.
The heat wasn’t on the body but in the heart.
No matter how much he washed, it couldn’t be erased; no matter how cold it was, it couldn’t be cooled.
–
The next morning, Tang Xin was woken up by a call from Qi Shu.
It was just past 8 a.m.
She answered groggily, her eyes still closed, as Qi Shu’s excited voice came through:
“Tang Tang, I got a call from Director Liang. He wants you to play Su Xin, the second female lead in Under the Sky! It’s a great role!”
“Mm, I know…” She mumbled, still half-asleep. “Last night… I exchanged it with Yue Yuze using fried noodles.”
“Yue Yuze…” Qi Shu automatically ignored the details of the trade, figuring they weren’t important. “That makes sense. Only he could make it happen. Tang Tang, haven’t you noticed…”
“Huh? Ashu, what are you saying?”
Qi Shu fell silent for a moment before sighing softly. “Nothing. Just wake up. Director Liang called me to SUN Studios. You need to come over. He wants to hand over the script for Su Xin and discuss some things.”
“Can’t you pick me up?” She was too lazy to call a cab. This villa was larger than an entire residential complex; it was a hassle just to walk to the gate.
“I’ll pick you up. Just get up first.”
Hearing this, Tang Xin couldn’t justify staying in bed any longer. She quickly got up, freshened up, and applied light makeup. Within 20 minutes, she was ready, wearing a pretty dress and carrying a small handbag as she went downstairs.
However, in the living room, she saw Yue Yuze sitting on the sofa, calmly reviewing some documents.
“President Yue… you haven’t gone to work yet?”
It was almost 9 a.m…
Yue Yuze put down the file and glanced at her. “Heading out?”
“To SUN Studios. Director Liang asked me to pick up the script for the role you gave me and discuss some things.” She spoke as she moved toward the door.
“You’re not having breakfast?” The man’s low, clear voice reached her ears.
Tang Xin turned her head to look at him, her delicate brows furrowing slightly… Why did Yue Yuze seem a bit gentle today?
Strange.
This guy was usually so cold.
“No, it’s fine. Ashu should already be on his way. I don’t have time for breakfast.”
Hearing this, Yue Yuze’s phoenix-shaped eyes narrowed slightly. He then calmly lowered his gaze and began organizing the documents in his hands. “Go eat breakfast. I’ll wait here and take you over afterward.”
“What? You’re going to SUN Company?”
He fixed his gaze on her and opened his thin lips slightly. “Yes.”
“But I already told Ashu…”
“You can tell him not to come.” Yue Yuze’s voice deepened slightly.
Tang Xin didn’t overthink it. She just figured that since it was rush hour and Ashu hadn’t arrived yet, it would save time if he didn’t come. After all, President Yue was heading in the same direction.
So, she called Qi Shu, who, as expected, was still tied up in a discussion with Director Liang and hadn’t left yet.
“President Yue, I’ll go eat breakfast then. Don’t worry, I’ll be quick.” She placed her small handbag on the sofa where Yue Yuze was sitting and hurried off.
It was as if by leaving her bag there, she’d anchored him in place, ensuring he wouldn’t leave without her.
Yue Yuze watched her retreating figure, his deep gaze darkening further.
After a moment, his phone rang. He picked it up and answered.
Fan Bei’s voice came through: “Boss, why aren’t you at the office yet? Don’t you have a meeting at 9:20? Where are you now? Are you stuck in traffic?”
It was no surprise Fan Bei was anxious. After all, Yue Yuze was known for his punctuality. As a highly disciplined businessman, he had never been late before. But today, with only 20 minutes left until the meeting, there was still no sign of him.
Yue Yuze glanced at the cobalt-blue handbag sitting nearby. After a brief silence, he said, “Reschedule the meeting to 10:30.”
“What? Why?” As his assistant, Fan Bei needed to be informed of such decisions.
“It’s nothing. I’ll be heading to SUN Company in a bit.”
“What are you going there for?” Fan Bei was sure there wasn’t anything urgent requiring the boss’s presence at SUN today.
After a two-second pause, the boss’s low, calm voice replied, “To give someone a ride.”
With that, the call ended.
On the other end, Fan Bei held his phone, his mouth agape in shock. His voice trembled as he stuttered, “To-to-to… give someone a ride??!”
Oh my god!
Who in the world could possibly make the workaholic boss push back a meeting just to personally chauffeur them?
