Chapter 11: Daddy and Mommy Should Be Together Forever

Their eyes met, and Gu Nanyan almost lost herself in his dark, phoenix-like eyes. Her gaze instinctively averted.

“Xiao Mumu, come here.”

Shen Boyan extended his hand, and the little one obediently climbed out of Gu Nanyan’s embrace and walked over to his dad.

Though Shen Boyan’s cold personality seemed innate, whenever he was with his son, his gaze always softened with tenderness and affection.

“If you ever feel tired, just tell me. If you speak up, I’ll know.”

His fingers, well-defined and graceful, gently caressed Xiao Mumu’s porcelain-like face, and after a soft sigh, he withdrew his hand.

He had always believed that Xiao Mumu learned so many things because he liked them.

But he never considered how much effort it took for a child of his age to master all these skills.

“I know, Daddy.”

Xiao Mumu nodded, then looked at Gu Nanyan. “Daddy, have you and Mama made up?”

The sudden question caused the atmosphere to freeze.

Gu Nanyan turned to Shen Boyan, her mouth slightly opening, but she couldn’t find the words.

Shen Boyan didn’t respond immediately. His dark, unfathomable eyes flickered ever so slightly.

“Mama said she knows she was wrong… Daddy, will you forgive her?” Xiao Mumu looked at Shen Boyan with big, blinking eyes, his expression full of innocence.

Gu Nanyan was shocked as she looked at her son.

No… she certainly didn’t teach him to say this.

Would Shen Boyan think she did?

“Daddy, you said that I wouldn’t be without Mama. So, you and Mama will always be together, right?”

Xiao Mumu asked again.

Shen Boyan seemed slightly annoyed, furrowing his brows.

Gu Nanyan quickly interrupted, “Dinner time is coming, let’s… go eat dinner.”

The more Xiao Mumu spoke, the more it sounded like something she had taught him.

She feared it would only annoy Shen Boyan.

In the end, Shen Boyan didn’t respond to Xiao Mumu. He stood up, took Xiao Mumu’s hand, and walked out.

Gu Nanyan nervously followed behind them.

She hadn’t expected Xiao Mumu to suddenly speak up for her.

Maybe, in a child’s heart, they always hoped their parents could get along…

After dinner, it was Shen Boyan and Xiao Mumu’s father-son time.

Gu Nanyan didn’t interrupt, instead heading straight back to her room.

She had sent a few emails today, and two had already received replies.

The responses came from well-known medical experts.

However, in the emails, they addressed her as “Senior.”

It seemed that, in the face of absolute ability, no amount of fame mattered.

Gu Nanyan was in the middle of replying to an email when someone knocked on her door.

She peeked outside, closed her laptop, and got up to open the door.

She expected it to be Xiao Yue bringing something for her, but when she opened the door, a tall, cold figure appeared.

Shen Boyan was a head and a half taller than Gu Nanyan, and she had to slightly tilt her head to look up at him.

His face was so stunningly handsome, with a jawline perfectly sculpted, and his Adam’s apple was irresistibly alluring.

Gu Nanyan nervously swallowed, unable to stop herself, “Boyan… what are you doing here?”

Had he finished playing with Xiao Mumu?

He wasn’t bringing her divorce papers again, was he?

She wouldn’t sign them no matter what.

After all, he had already taken four years from her; at the very least, she would make him spend another year or two with her, right?

They say that time can make people fall in love. What if, after some time… he ended up falling in love with her?

“Can I come in and talk.” Shen Boyan’s expression was still cold, and his voice sounded even deeper in the quiet night.

Gu Nanyan obediently stepped aside and said, “Okay.”

Shen Boyan walked into the room, and Gu Nanyan hesitated before closing the door behind her.

He probably wanted to talk to her privately, and it wouldn’t be good if others overheard.

No sooner had the door closed than Shen Boyan suddenly grabbed her arm and tossed her against the wall.

Gu Nanyan’s back hit the wall painfully, and her body was pinned by Shen Boyan’s large frame, the confined feeling overwhelming.

“Gu Nanyan, what’s your purpose?”

His dark, piercing gaze locked onto her, his eyes cold with menace.

Gu Nanyan, trapped by him, widened her eyes in panic.

Purpose?

It seemed he still didn’t believe her.

Gu Nanyan’s long lashes fluttered, and her eyes became misty as she spoke softly, “My purpose is very simple, Boyan. I want to live a good life with you. I want to be a good wife, a good mother. That’s my purpose. What do I need to do for you to believe me?”

She lowered her gaze, and tears rolled down her cheeks.

Shen Boyan showed no signs of pity. One hand gripped her chin and forcefully tilted her head up to meet his gaze. “You better be telling the truth. Gu Nanyan, remember this: I can tolerate you hurting anyone, but I will never tolerate you hurting Xiao Mumu.”

It seemed Xiao Mumu defending her today had made him suspicious, leading him to believe she had taught him to say these things.

Gu Nanyan bit her lip, her expression resolute. She met his gaze without fear, “Xiao Mumu is very smart. He knows who’s good and who’s bad. If I really hurt him, he wouldn’t be close to me. I never taught him to speak up for me. It’s what he wants deep down—he hopes his parents can get along.”

Her words seemed to touch Shen Boyan.

He slowly released his grip on her chin, and his expression became somewhat more complex.

Gu Nanyan couldn’t read the thoughts in his dark eyes. Realizing that she had changed so much from the past, she added, “I will turn over a new leaf and become a better person.”

Shen Boyan: …

The night was deep, with only a few stars visible.

Qin Yuwei was waiting downstairs, watching as Shen Boyan walked out of Gu Nanyan’s room. A surge of jealousy flared in her eyes.

Why had he gone to Gu Nanyan’s room?

It had been four years. He had only been in there once to deliver divorce papers, but never again.

What was he doing there now?

“Shen Shao.” As soon as Shen Boyan reached the bottom of the stairs, Qin Yuwei walked up to him, “I’ve reworked Xiao Mumu’s study plan. I wanted to show it to you.”

Qin Yuwei, wearing a white dress with her hair flowing over her shoulders, smiled as she handed him the file.

Her wrist had been sprayed with a lot of perfume, and the fragrance hit Shen Boyan’s nose as she handed him the papers.

Xiao Yue, standing nearby, rolled her eyes at Qin Yuwei.

Did she really need to spray that much perfume? Wasn’t she afraid of suffocating the young master?

Shen Boyan’s expression was no better. He took the papers and coldly said, “Make a copy for Nanyan as well.”

Then he turned and left without another word.

Qin Yuwei stood frozen in place.

Nanyan?

Did Shen Shao just call Gu Nanyan “Nanyan”?

No… That couldn’t be…

For all these years, hadn’t he always addressed her by her full name?

Why did he suddenly call her so affectionately?

And then asked her… to make a copy for Gu Nanyan too?

Why… why her?

Gu Nanyan, why her!

Xiao Yue, seeing Qin Yuwei’s face go pale with envy, couldn’t help but smile with joy.

She quickly ran upstairs to share the good news with Gu Nanyan.

It seemed that the relationship between the young master and mistress was slowly warming up.

Qin Yuwei’s “green tea” face was turning even greener~
