Chapter 1: Gaining Space Abilities
“What is this? It’s just an ordinary bracelet.”
Bai An walked through the alley on her way home, lifting her hand to observe the bracelet on her wrist under the faint sunlight of the setting sun.
It was a plain silver chain, with no decorations at all. When it swayed lightly, it made a crisp sound of metal clinking.
Bai An absentmindedly stroked the silver chain in her hand.
“Hiss.”
Seeing a small cut on her hand with a drop of fresh blood, Bai An couldn’t help but frown. “Didn’t expect it to be so sharp.”
Just as Bai An was about to take the bracelet off, the sound of birds singing cheerfully reached her ears.
Her sharp senses, honed since childhood, made her immediately aware of the unfamiliar presence nearby. She looked up and, after scanning her surroundings, furrowed her delicate brows and slightly parted her red lips.
“Am I seeing a ghost?”
“A paradise!”
The ground was covered with a swath of lush green grass, gently swaying in the wind. In the distance, a river flowed from the mountains, and faint mountain peaks loomed in the distance.
Above her, an immortal crane flew by.
“Could this be the ‘opportunity’ the Taoist was talking about?” Bai An’s eyes were filled with shock. “This is incredible.”
Feeling the gentle breeze on her face, Bai An raised her hand and ran forward, embracing the freedom.
After running like a madwoman, Bai An had lost the initial excitement and was now squatting by the riverbank, pulling at a blade of grass, carefully inspecting it. “It’s real grass.”
She dipped her hand into the water, feeling the smooth, warm current. “It’s real water.”
“The Taoist said I would have an opportunity. Could this be the transmigration he meant? But in novels, doesn’t transmigration usually refer to the soul crossing over?”
Bai An looked down at her reflection in the water, and it was still her.
“So, this is body transmigration. This is getting more and more difficult,” Bai An said confidently, picking up her bag from the ground and standing tall. “But whether it’s body or soul transmigration, neither is hard for me.”
Just as Bai An was thinking about leaving this place, she found herself back in the familiar alley.
Looking around at the familiar alley, Bai An angrily thought, “Is my opportunity only a few minutes long?”
As she wished to return to that paradise in her mind, she suddenly found herself back there.
Looking at the river nearby, Bai An seemed to realize something.
In her mind, she said, “Return to the world I was just in.”
The sun had long set in the distance. Bai An struggled to contain her excitement, stroking the bracelet on her wrist.
“So, the scenes in novels really can happen to me.”
Once she returned home, Bai An dashed to the couch, hugging her hamster plushie and rolling around in excitement.
“When that Taoist wanted to shove the bracelet into my hand, I thought he was a scammer,” Bai An said excitedly, staring at the ceiling. “I should’ve taken it when he tried to give it to me instead of rejecting him.”
The feeling of receiving a treasure made Bai An feel lightheaded with joy.
【Now announcing the lottery winners.】
Oh, I bought a lottery ticket a few days ago.
Bai An sat up, pulling out the ticket that she had almost forgotten about. She mumbled quietly, “I wonder if I won.”
【We’re at the final moment now, announcing the grand prize winner!】
Bai An stared at the lottery ticket in her hand, her emotions calm.
After all, she had never been lucky enough to win anything in her life.
As the host loudly read off the numbers, one by one, they matched the numbers on Bai An’s ticket. Her attention grew more and more focused.
“Ah, ah, ah, I won!”

Bai An held the lottery ticket in her hand, excitedly thinking to herself.
First prize, first prize! After taxes, there will still be over twenty million left!
“My dull life is finally coming to an end!”
Her whole face flushed with excitement as she reflected on everything that had happened today.
For every cause, there is an effect. There must be some mysterious connection behind her winning all of this.
Bai An couldn’t sleep the entire night. Drawing from her past experiences, and the novels she’d read, she began to piece things together.
Since she had received an upgraded space and now won such a huge amount of money, something big must be coming.
The apocalypse!
Yes! It must be the apocalypse!
Bai An suddenly sat up from her bed, her mind working at full speed.
Usually, such things signaled the arrival of the apocalypse, a warning to prepare supplies.
Opening her shopping app on her phone, Bai An scrolled through the various products, but her body suddenly felt a bit weary.
“Forget it, I’ll quit my job tomorrow and then prepare properly.”
As the first light of dawn appeared, Bai An hailed a cab and confidently walked into her office, heading straight for her boss, who had always been too forward with her.
“I’m quitting.”
Her boss, a handsome man dressed in an expensive gray suit with gold-rimmed glasses, always impeccably neat, was indeed a typical rich and handsome type, but every time Bai An saw him, she couldn’t shake the feeling that he was a gentleman with a hidden dark side.
“Why?”
“No reason. I just want to quit.”
Ren Dong, gazing at the charming young woman before him, couldn’t help but rub his brow.
He had always sailed smoothly in life, but he never expected to be repeatedly outdone by a girl.
“You can name any condition,” he said, his tone slightly tired as he looked at Bai An. After a pause, he added, “As long as you don’t quit.”
Despite everything, he was still amazed by her.
“No conditions. I just want to quit,” Bai An said, pointing at him accusingly. “I hate how you keep touching me. Why can’t you just talk to me properly? You always come so close, and I absolutely hate it when men get that close to me.”
Ren Dong narrowed his eyes at her accusation.
As he replayed the advice from his mentor in his head, he realized that he had done nothing wrong.
Bai An noticed his vacant, dazed expression and couldn’t help but add, “Also, I have something more important to do now.”
“What important thing?”
“I’m going to save the Earth!”
There was a few seconds of silence.
Ren Dong shifted his position, lifting a hand to cover his mouth as he looked at the fiery young woman in front of him.
She really hadn’t grown up yet.
He stretched out his hand and pushed the resignation letter across the desk to her, stifling his laughter. “No need to quit. You’re welcome to come back anytime if you change your mind.”
Bai An looked at his face, which was twisted from holding back laughter, and rolled her eyes in exasperation.
She really didn’t feel like talking to him anymore. Whatever.
