Chapter 123: Don’t Bite My Finger
Jing Xi chuckled, “Well, that’s great! As long as you don’t feel like you’re getting a bad deal!”
“Not at all, not at all!”
Long Yue Zhi had come with a purpose—he had to make sure she was in a good mood before bringing up his real intentions.
“Alright! Then it’s settled!”
Jing Xi stood up, put away her pen and notebook, and said, “Come with me. You’ll be sleeping in the guest room tonight.”
She led Long Yue Zhi into the room and quickly inspected it. “The bedding is all freshly washed and unused. There’s a pair of slippers in the wardrobe, but I don’t know if they’ll fit you. Try them yourself. The bathroom is over there; you can take a bath. Before you do, make sure to light the stove in the kitchen—otherwise, there won’t be any hot water. Also…”
Jing Xi went on with a list of instructions, but Long Yue Zhi only seemed to remember one thing—lighting the stove.
“Wait, light the stove? How do I do that?”
Seeing his utterly clueless expression, Jing Xi nearly forgot that this was a man who had been served by others his entire life.
With a sigh, she said, “Fine, since I’m charging you, I’ll light it for you. Are you going to wash up?”
“Of course. I bathe every day.”
Bathe? Just say ‘shower’ like a normal person…
“Alright, go wash up then. I’ll check on your medicine.”
Long Yue Zhi agreed but suddenly realized—he hadn’t brought a change of clothes.
Damn.
Was he supposed to just walk out naked?
He rummaged through the wardrobe but only found slippers and towels—nothing he could wear.
So, he walked toward the kitchen and saw Jing Xi adding firewood to the stove.
“Uh… do you have any clothes I can wear?”
Jing Xi turned around and gave him a strange look. “What do you think?”
“Probably not.”
“Then why are you asking?”
“Just in case…”
“I don’t.” She gave him a look as if he were an idiot. “Seriously, who doesn’t bring a change of clothes?”
For once, Long Yue Zhi had no words.
He had brought clothes—they were just still in the car. When he arrived, all his attention had been on her little house.
Jing Xi sighed. “Just go wash up. I’ll figure something out.”
“You’re going out?”
“Mind your own business. Just go.”
Half skeptical, Long Yue Zhi went to the bathroom.
This girl was so secretive about everything.
He undressed and turned on the faucet—only to get scalded instantly.
“Hot!”
From outside, Jing Xi shouted, “Turn on the cold tap! They’re separate pipes!”
Long Yue Zhi looked around and finally noticed another tap. When he turned it on, the water cooled down to a comfortable temperature.
“Got it!”
Jing Xi didn’t respond. She had already gone into her bedroom, shut the door, and entered her space.
She searched her wardrobe and finally found a white T-shirt and a pair of shorts that might fit him.
Good thing he was slim, or even these might be too tight.
She left the space, hung the clothes on the bathroom door, and called out, “Long Yue Zhi, your clothes are on the door! Get them yourself! I’m going to check on your medicine now!”
Before he could reply, she had already walked off to the kitchen.
The medicine on the stove was almost done. She checked the time, waited for the full hour, and then carefully poured it into a porcelain bowl.
But the clay pot was either too heavy, or she just didn’t grip it properly—she lost control for a moment and burned her fingertip.
“Ah!” she yelped.
Before she could react further, someone grabbed her hand from behind and—
Shoved her finger into their mouth.
She gasped and turned around abruptly—only to be met with a breathtaking sight.
Long Yue Zhi, shirtless.
His damp hair clung to his forehead and the sides of his neck, water droplets trickling down his sculpted face. His striking features were accentuated by the dim light—deep, penetrating eyes, sharp brows that carried an air of arrogance, a straight, chiseled nose, and lips slightly parted in an expression of concern.
His wet, slightly curled hair only made him look even more wickedly attractive.
For a moment, her heart skipped a beat.
What… what kind of face was this?!
His eyes seemed to see right through her.
His presence was overwhelming, a mix of wildness and refined elegance.
Her mind went blank.
And—she realized—she didn’t even feel the burn on her finger anymore.
Because her finger was still in his mouth.
“Have you stared enough?”
As she snapped back to reality, he slowly let go of her finger.
Only then did she register the warm, slightly damp sensation that had just wrapped around her fingertip.
Her mind spun wildly.
He had… he had…
Long Yue Zhi watched her frozen expression and asked again, “Are you done staring? What are you thinking about? Did my handsomeness knock you senseless?”
Jing Xi: “…”
Actually… yeah.
She yanked her hand back. “Bullshit! Why the hell did you suck my finger?!”
Quickly, she turned around and ran her finger under cold water.
But the redness in her ears did not escape Long Yue Zhi’s sharp gaze.
She was embarrassed.
Jing Xi suddenly felt like she couldn’t even stand properly anymore.
Lust is a knife that cuts deep!
Jing Xi, snap out of it!
Yet, another voice in her mind whispered—A night of passion is worth a thousand gold coins…
Wait, what?!
Passion?!
No, no, no! This era doesn’t allow such things!
She needed to stop thinking like this immediately!
As she rinsed her hand under the cool water, her mind involuntarily replayed the moment just now.
Then, she realized—Long Yue Zhi was still standing behind her.
Oh God. This was beyond embarrassing.
Taking a deep breath, she straightened her face and snapped, “Why aren’t you wearing a shirt?!”
Long Yue Zhi looked a little aggrieved. “I was just about to put it on when I saw you nearly drop that pot of boiling medicine. You got burned the next second, so I rushed over!”
“Then… then why… why did you have to put my finger in your mouth?!”
“Isn’t that supposed to help relieve burns?”
Come on, he had never done something like this before!
Any other girl would have been delighted if he sucked her finger. But no—Jing Xi was here lecturing him like he had committed a crime.
Jing Xi glared at him. “Just get out!”
Long Yue Zhi raised both hands in surrender. “Alright, alright! My kindness is wasted on you!”
He turned and strode out of the kitchen.
Even though it was summer, the nights were still a bit chilly.
After drying his hair, he decided to put on the white T-shirt.
It fit surprisingly well.
His gaze darkened slightly.
This looked like a man’s shirt.
Where had she gotten it from?
He turned back toward the kitchen, where Jing Xi was carrying out the bowl of medicine.
“Here, drink this! Then go to sleep!”
She yawned right after she spoke.
She wasn’t actually tired—she was faking it.
She needed some alone time to process what just happened.
Which meant—Long Yue Zhi needed to go away.
“This is too hot. It needs to cool down,” he muttered. “By the way, did you add sugar?”
Jing Xi blinked. “Sugar?”
“Yeah. Rock sugar. Otherwise, it’s too bitter. I won’t be able to drink it.”
“…”
