Jing Xi placed the money given by the Long family directly into her space.
Lately, she had been so busy that she hadn’t checked in on her space for some time. Upon entering this time, she was shocked.
The entire framework of the house had already been completed, and they were now finishing up the final touches. When she stepped inside, she found that the interior was already being renovated—two of the walls had even been painted.
Taking a walk through the house, she noted that it consisted of three rooms, a dining room, and a living room, with a large terrace on the second floor.
After pacing around and measuring with her footsteps, she already had plans in mind for how to arrange the rooms.
At that moment, she had no idea that the space itself wouldn’t even give her a chance to make her own arrangements.
She placed the money from the Long family on the terrace of the second floor. Since no one but her could enter this space, it was the safest place for it.
After watering the plants, pulling out weeds, and taking care of some miscellaneous tasks, she left.
Upon returning to her house, she checked the time and found that it was already late at night.
Having focused intensely during the day, she now felt utterly exhausted. The moment she lay down, she fell asleep.
She was woken up by noise.
Jing Xi hadn’t expected people to be gossiping right outside her house. No wonder she had been dreaming of people talking—
“Don’t let Jing Xi fool you! She’s nothing but a liar!”
Great.
After “loose woman,” “little whore,” and “shameless hussy,” they had now come up with a new name for her.
The villagers really were considerate toward her.
Jing Xi sat up from her heated brick bed and glanced at the shadows moving behind her curtains. She didn’t recognize these people.
They continued talking, standing right at her doorstep—clearly, they wanted her to hear them.
She washed her face, brushed her teeth, and then opened the door to see a few unfamiliar older women.
“What’s all this yelling about so early in the morning? If you want to argue, go do it somewhere else. Don’t disturb my sleep at my own doorstep!”
The woman in front stood with her hands on her hips, her nostrils flared, and her expression hostile. She spat angrily on the ground.
“You liar! You tricked the Long family and stole my son’s chance to be the village accountant!”
Jing Xi looked her up and down. “Who are you?”
The woman hadn’t expected to be dismissed so easily. “I’m Zhou Wenwu’s wife! My name is Li Fenghua!”
Jing Xi: “Li Cuihua? Never heard of you.”
Li Fenghua: “It’s Li Fenghua!”
Jing Xi: “What Fenghua?”
Li Fenghua: “Li Fenghua!”
Jing Xi: “Li what?”
Li Fenghua: “Li Fenghua!”
Jing Xi: “Li Feng-what?”
Li Fenghua exploded, “Li Fenghua! Li Fenghua! How many times do I have to say it?! Do you have hearing problems?!”
Jing Xi blinked. “Hmm. Maybe a little.”
Li Fenghua fumed. “I am a well-known figure in the surrounding villages! You not knowing me just proves how ignorant you are! I came here today to tell you that you’d better step down from the temporary accountant position and hand over the money from the Long family! Otherwise, you’ll regret it!”
As she spoke, her exaggerated expressions, combined with her half-grown eyebrows, made her look utterly ridiculous. To make matters worse, she had a flat nose, a round face, and tiny eyes—all her features together made her appearance laughably absurd.
Behind her stood two other women, one of whom was quite young. When she noticed Jing Xi eyeing her, she stepped forward aggressively.
“That’s right! Hand over the accountant position to my husband! He’ll do a better job than you for sure!”
Wow.
So, this was a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo coming to demand the position?
And the men in their family were just… invisible?
Jing Xi rinsed her mouth, then deliberately spat the toothpaste foam right in front of the two women, making them jump back.
“Where are you spitting? Can’t you see we’re standing here?!”
Jing Xi wiped her mouth. “Didn’t see any people—just two pigs. Maybe three.”
Li Fenghua glanced around. “Pigs? Where? Xiao Wen, do you see any pigs?”
The younger woman, called Xiao Wen, glared at Jing Xi. “Mother, she’s obviously insulting us! She’s calling us pigs!”
Jingxi immediately clapped her hands. “Well done, Ms. Xiaowen! You’ve even learned to answer back now! That’s right—I am cursing at both of you! If you don’t get lost, I won’t just curse; I’ll start hitting too!”
Li Fenghua pointed at Jingxi. “You dare?! If you don’t give up my son’s position, you still think you can hit us?”
Jingxi shrugged, poured hot water into a basin, washed her face, and then, without hesitation, threw the used water at the two of them. The woman standing behind, who had remained silent the whole time, immediately jumped back several meters the moment she saw Jingxi splash the water.
From her calm and unbothered demeanor, it was obvious—Jingxi was not someone easy to mess with. Without a second thought, she decided to leave.
“Sister-in-law Zhou, I just remembered I have something to do at home. I’ll be going now!”
Li Fenghua quickly called after her, “Sister-in-law Meng, don’t go! Hey—”
But she was gone in a flash, running faster and faster.
Jingxi smirked. At least you know when to back off.
So she’s from the Meng family?
Good. Now I know.
She turned her attention back to the Zhou family’s mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. They were standing there, watching the Meng woman leave while muttering a couple of curses under their breath.
“Liar! I was talking to you—did you even hear me?”
Jingxi smirked. “Who are you calling a liar?”
“I’m calling you a liar!”
Ms. Xiaowen suddenly felt something was off. “Mom, she’s calling you a liar again!”
Only then did Li Fenghua realize what was happening. “No wonder everyone calls you a little wretch! You’ve got such a slick mouth—clearly, you spend all your time sweet-talking men! Practice makes perfect, doesn’t it?”
Jingxi let out a sarcastic chuckle. “No wonder you look like a pig—talk like a pig, walk like a pig… The best part? You even look like a pig! Hahaha!”
Li Fenghua’s face twisted in rage. “You’re young and already sleeping around, shameless! Who knows how many men have had their way with you before you’ve even gotten married? You’ve probably caught some disgusting disease by now! Heavens above, why haven’t you taken this wicked creature away yet?!”
Jingxi’s expression didn’t change. “And you’re old but still spewing bullshit. Are you really talking about shame? Haven’t you spent enough time spreading your legs for Old Zhou? Otherwise, how did you give birth to that ugly son of yours? Did you dig him out of a manure pit, or are you like a female cockroach, capable of asexual reproduction?”
Li Fenghua turned red with fury. “Nonsense! My son is not ugly!”
She absolutely hated it when people called her son ugly. Stepping forward, she grabbed a small rock from the ground and threw it at Jingxi.
Jingxi didn’t dodge. The rock hit her shoulder squarely, and Li Fenghua continued cursing.
Without a word, Jingxi went inside, grabbed her fire poker, and came back out. Then—WHACK!—she swung it straight at Li Fenghua’s huge backside.
Li Fenghua had never imagined Jingxi would actually fight back. She immediately screamed while trying to strike back, reaching for Jingxi’s hair. But before she could grab it, Jingxi caught her hair instead.
She tried to yank Jingxi’s clothes—only for the fire poker to hook onto her pants.
Jingxi yanked hard, and with a tearing sound, a huge hole appeared in Li Fenghua’s pants.
Her dark, bare backside was fully exposed!
“Well, well, well! Li Fenghua, you’re fifty years old and you don’t even wear underwear?! You have no shame! Now I understand why you’re always sneaking around—must be having plenty of affairs, huh?”
Li Fenghua’s face turned beet red. In a panic, she used both hands to cover herself, but the hole was too big to hide. “You shameless brat! You hooked my pants! Xiaowen! Xiaowen, don’t just stand there—help me!”
Ms. Xiaowen, who had been watching the spectacle in shock, finally snapped out of it and rushed to help her mother-in-law.
But Jingxi refused to let go.
With the fire poker hooked onto the fabric, the more they struggled, the larger the tear became!
Soon, Li Fenghua’s entire thigh was exposed!
“Li Fenghua, you have no shame! It’s not even summer yet, and you’re already going out wearing just a single layer? And no underwear? Trying to make it easier for your secret lovers, huh? Ms. Xiaowen, did you know your mother-in-law was like this? Huh?”
Li Fenghua’s face was now as red as a cooked crab. “You damned little wretch, let go of my hair! Aghhh! I’ll kill you!”
Xiaowen yelled, “Let go of my mother-in-law!”
Jingxi sneered. “You came here looking for a fight—you can’t blame me for giving you one!”
With that, she yanked the poker once more.
Li Fenghua’s pants—completely torn apart—dropped to the ground.
Her entire backside and thighs were now in full view.
