Chapter 9: First Kiss
Although their first date started with some hiccups, the overall experience and ending were wonderful. As they parted ways to head home, both were in high spirits, clearly satisfied with the date.
Yan Mo had other matters to attend to in the afternoon, so after lunch, the two bid farewell.
After spending the morning together, Yan Mo had more or less figured out his girlfriend’s personality and preferences—adorable, just like the person herself.
Before leaving, Yan Mo specifically asked Shu Xin for a photo of her. He carefully selected one to set as his phone’s wallpaper.
Seeing Yan Mo’s serious and proactive attitude, Shu Xin felt she couldn’t fall behind. Since Yan Mo didn’t have a habit of taking selfies, Shu Xin decided that was no problem at all. Picking up her phone, she snapped three consecutive shots of him.
Yan Mo’s face was perfect from any angle. Shu Xin couldn’t bear to give up any of the pictures, so she simply combined all three into a collage.
Only kids make choices—she wanted them all!
When it came to her boyfriend and future golden thigh, proper flattery was a must. Gifts were essential.
Surprises now and then could rapidly heat up a relationship.
In terms of dating experience, Shu Xin was completely a novice. Across two lifetimes, this was her first romance, and she had no idea what gifts to give her boyfriend.
With only three days until school started, Shu Xin, a freshman, had a packed schedule. Yan Mo, already a junior, would undoubtedly have less time to spend with her once classes began.
Thinking about the many girls at school who admired Yan Mo, Shu Xin felt it was necessary to make her claim known.
Her relationship with Yan Mo had just begun and wasn’t yet solid. If some little vixen seized the opportunity to sneak in, who would she complain to?
So, she asked her dear boyfriend for his clothing size. Since he didn’t oppose wearing matching outfits, Shu Xin headed straight to the mall.
Knowing his adorable girlfriend was going shopping, Yan Mo directly transferred 50,000 yuan to her.
Seeing that Shu Xin accepted it without hesitation and even sent back a big flying kiss emoji, he felt extraordinarily satisfied.
The feeling of giving his girlfriend an allowance was unexpectedly nice. If only that kiss were real, it would be even better.
Sitting beside him, Bu Xiangwen, who was discussing business with Yan Mo, saw his normally expressionless friend suddenly reveal a determined, almost predatory smile. He couldn’t help but shiver.
He knew that smile all too well. Not only was he familiar with it—he had trauma from it.
Whenever Yan Mo smiled like that, it meant someone was in his sights. He just didn’t know which unlucky soul it was this time. The thought was oddly thrilling.
Meanwhile, Shu ‘Unlucky One’ Xin was happily shopping—do not disturb!
Bu Xiangwen accidentally glanced at Yan Mo’s phone screen, which hadn’t turned off yet. His eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at his friend.
With a trembling finger, he pointed at the still-lit phone screen. “You… Why is there a girl on your phone wallpaper?!”
“My girlfriend,” Yan Mo replied casually, sparing a glance at the visibly shocked Bu Xiangwen, completely indifferent to how absurd his answer sounded to his friend.
To Bu Xiangwen, the idea of Yan Mo having a girlfriend was as shocking as being told the world was ending tomorrow.
After rebooting his mental processor, he finally managed to speak again.
“I remember last night at the banquet, your phone wallpaper was still normal. It’s only been one night, and you already have a girlfriend?!”
“Wait, did you… do something illegal last night?! Or did some demon or ghost possess you?!”
Who knew what ridiculous scenario Bu Xiangwen had imagined, but his voice even cracked.
“With such a vivid imagination, it’s truly a waste for you to be in economics. You’re barely utilizing one ten-thousandth of your potential.”
Hearing Yan Mo’s familiar tone, Bu Xiangwen reassured himself.
“Tut tut, still the same old Yan Mo! But that girl must have been fooled by your looks. If she knew what you were really like, I wonder if she’d regret it.”
“She won’t have the chance to regret it.”
Confirmed: Yan Mo was still the same manipulative mastermind. On the outside, he was a refined and gentle nobleman, but those who knew him well understood—he was a black sesame dumpling, dark to the core inside.
When it came to people or things he recognized as his, he had absolute possessiveness and control.
That might sound dramatic, but it was the truth.
For now, all one could hope was that the little white rabbit who delivered herself to his doorstep could accept Yan Mo’s true nature. Otherwise, the aftermath wouldn’t be something she could handle.
Receiving Yan Mo’s transfer, Shu Xin’s mood improved even more.
She once saw a video saying, “A man willing to spend money on you doesn’t necessarily love you, but a man unwilling to spend money on you definitely doesn’t.”
Shu Xin found that statement incredibly reasonable. If a man wouldn’t even spend money on you, what else could you expect from him? A bite of his meal?
Moreover, Yan Mo giving her money was essentially supporting her purchase of couple outfits—how could she not be happy?
That afternoon, she fully exercised her innate shopping skills. Besides buying matching clothes, she also bought couple shoes and watches, determined to dress Yan Mo from head to toe in markers of being taken. Anyone who saw him would instantly know he was off the market.
To prevent chaos on the first day, A University staggered the arrival times for different grades. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors arrived on separate days, though early arrivals weren’t prohibited.
As a freshman, Shu Xin was required to stay in the dorms but could go home on weekends. Since Yan Mo was a junior, there were no strict regulations for him.
The day before school started, Shu Xin knelt beside Yan Mo, requesting that he wear the couple outfit she bought when sending her to campus.
Yan Mo, reading a book, didn’t look up or respond.
“Ah~ My dear boyfriend, you’re the best. Just say yes~”
Shu Xin clung to his arm, shaking it insistently, determined to get what she wanted.
Yan Mo closed his book with one hand and placed it on the coffee table. Removing the gold-rimmed glasses he wore while reading, his usually hidden, dangerously alluring eyes were fully revealed.
“If you want me to agree, shouldn’t you offer some compensation to your boyfriend?”
The moment their eyes met, Shu Xin felt like her soul was being drawn in. Even his words seemed to carry a bewitching magic.
Unconsciously, she nodded.
Seeing her consent, Yan Mo didn’t hesitate. He lowered his head and captured the lips he had long desired.
At the moment of contact, Shu Xin’s mind short-circuited. She couldn’t react at all, simply closing her eyes and following his lead.
The fresh yet slightly cool scent of mint invaded her senses, gradually occupying every corner.
Her strength drained away, and she collapsed into his arms, completely enveloped by his presence. The sudden thudding of her heart made her forget everything else.
By the time Yan Mo released her, Shu Xin was left breathless, leaning weakly against his chest.
“So this is what kissing feels like… Not bad for a first-time experience across two lifetimes.”
“Be good. Next time, remember to breathe.” Yan Mo wiped the moisture from her lips, his large hand soothing her back. The curve of his lips betrayed his incredibly good mood.
As expected, his girlfriend’s taste was sweet, just as he imagined.
