Chapter 37
Jiang Sui’s cooking skills are much better than those of the chefs in state-owned restaurants.
At least this bowl of noodles was the best he had ever eaten.
It’s chewy and smooth, unlike the ones pressed by machines which are soft and tasteless.
Jiang Sui looked at the noodles in her bowl and sighed.
Although noodles are good, she really misses rice.
Song Sichen hesitated and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Jiang Sui took a big mouthful of noodles and said, “Fortunately, you insist on going to work, otherwise we can only rely on food stamps for our three meals a day.”
Song Sichen is hardworking and he would never ask for leave unless it was an emergency.
Therefore, Yueyue and the others got a lot of food.
But in comparison, rice is a refined grain, and on average per person per month, the two of them can only get two kilograms.
During this period, Jiang Sui was reluctant to eat.
The production team should have had rice today, but unfortunately I missed it.
Jiang Sui sighed and glanced at Song Sichen dimly.
Oh, she really wants to cry for rice.
Song Sichen frowned slightly, obviously annoyed by her sad look.
In a short while, the meat soup and scrambled eggs with toon sprouts were all gone, and the plate was clean without even a single vegetable leaf left.
Jiang Sui and Song Sichen both look very pretty when they eat.
The movements were graceful, yet the speed was not slow at all.
Song Sichen raised his hand calmly and touched his stomach, which was rarely full, looking a little embarrassed.
He had clearly made up his mind to stay away from Jiang Sui.
But he didn’t expect that the first time they had a meal together, he would eat so much food prepared by others.
Jiang Sui seemed not to notice his embarrassment and stood up as usual.
“I cooked dinner tonight, so I can’t do the dishes anymore.”
She blinked at Song Sichen, her expression cunning and smart.
“Lady Song, let’s divide the work. You will be responsible for cleaning the table. Is that okay?”
Song Sichen’s face turned dark when Jiang Sui kept calling her “Miss Song”.
But after all, people are grateful for what they have received, so the name they are given is secondary.
He would be thankful as long as Jiang Sui stopped demanding physical contact like before.
Song Sichen didn’t say much. He stood up, cleaned up the dishes and walked towards the kitchen.
Behind me came Jiang Sui’s cheerful singing after she was satisfied.
He put his slender fingers under the faucet and rinsed them slowly, and he breathed a sigh of relief with an imperceptible sense of relief.
It has to be said that Jiang Sui’s natural performance relieved a lot of his pressure.
The two of them sat and stood, each busy with their own things.
Although it was a little quiet, the atmosphere was surprisingly harmonious.
Jiang Sui jumped around in the yard with the chickens for a while to digest the food, then poked her head out to talk to Song Sichen.
“Song Sichen, you just need to tidy up the kitchen later. It won’t be too late to do the rest tomorrow.”
She squinted her eyes and glanced at the clock, her tone sounding particularly joyful and expectant.
“It’s getting late. I have to go get ready for the screening.”
Jiang Sui went to the cinema to watch movies many times in her previous life, but this was the first time she worked as a projectionist.
What’s more, the movie being shown was an open-air movie in the village.
This was really a very novel experience for her.
Jiang Sui thought, although she had never tried it before, the original owner was so skilled in playing movies, there must be some muscle memory involved.
Plus, she has strong hands-on skills, so once she gets a little familiarity with it, she should be able to do it.
The village was still very cold at night, not to mention that we had to watch a movie in an open space with no shelter around.
Jiang Sui was afraid of catching a cold, so she put on a coat and reminded Song Sichen.
“It’s chilly at night, you should wear more clothes.”
Song Sichen paused and was about to say coldly that he didn’t need to bother her with his concern.
Jiang Sui was already yawning when she uttered the second half of the sentence.
“You look like a small shark. Don’t let everyone be fine while watching a movie, but you fall ill first.”
Song Sichen: “…”
Although I don’t know what Crunchy Shark is, it’s definitely not a good word.
He took a deep breath for a long time, and considering the dinner he had just had, he swallowed the harsh words that were about to come out of his mouth and continued to wash the dishes angrily.
Jiang Sui happened to have nothing to do at the moment.
Seeing how seriously Song Sichen was washing the dishes, she simply pulled a small stool over and watched quietly.
A beauty is indeed a beauty.
Even sitting down to wash dishes becomes an eye-catching landscape in itself.
Song Sichen’s hands are very beautiful, slender and white, with sharp wrist bones, so beautiful that he could be a hand model.
When you apply a little force on your hands, a beautiful pink-white color will even appear on your fingertips.
The man held the brush in one hand and carefully cleaned the remaining oil stains on the dishes.
Such incongruous things and actions, when put on Song Sichen, reveal an indescribable dignity and elegance.
Jiang Sui stared with his eyes fixed on her. That burning gaze was hard to ignore.
Song Sixen frowned and looked over here.
She held her cheeks with both hands and praised: “It’s amazing, how can someone look so good even when washing dishes…”
Is this, being infatuated with girls again?
Song Sichen stopped washing dishes immediately and couldn’t help but condemn Jiang Sui for having such a bad habit which had just been corrected for a few days but then relapsed.
Then Jiang Sui continued with a smile: “It would be a shame if we couldn’t see such a beautiful picture every day.”
“Song Sichen, I suggest you just lock yourself up with washing dishes. It would be best if you do this for the rest of your life.”
Jiang Sui’s favorite home appliance used to be the dishwasher, and she would always use the Guifei brand dishwasher every day.
Without Song Sichen, she was like a fish without a bicycle.
But if she lost the dishwasher, that would be the end of her life!
Song Sichen pinched the edge of the bowl so hard that it made a crackling sound.
Okay, he was overthinking it again.
It turns out that this scheming woman just doesn’t like washing dishes.
She is such a great cook, but asking her to clean up the dishes is like a life-threatening task.
Anything will be said to coax him into cleaning up the mess on his own.
Song Sichen felt speechless when he thought about it. He was too lazy to pay attention to Jiang Sui and just continued washing the dishes silently.
The dark eyelashes droop slightly, making the elegant outline look even cooler.
Jiang Sui couldn’t help but be amazed when she saw it.
Not to mention, Lady Song is indeed quite pretty when she has a cold face and doesn’t speak.
If Lin Wanyu saw him like this, she would definitely be completely fascinated by him.
Jiang Sui thought about the movie that the village was going to watch tonight, and suddenly felt that this might be a plot specially arranged in the original book to enhance the relationship between the male and female protagonists.
Song Sichen is a stubborn straight man.
If he wants to marry a wife on his own, he doesn’t know how long he will have to wait.
In consideration of the friendship they had over dinner tonight, Jiang Sui showed some mercy and planned to give him some advice.
“The movie will probably be over very late, and by then it will be dark and crowded and chaotic.”
“If you do something, no one else will notice it.”
Although when watching the movie, the educated youth and the sent-down elements were seated far apart from each other.
But as long as the two of them can appear in the same scene, it is also an opportunity.
Song Sichen: “???”
Looking at the meaningful look on Jiang Sui’s face, the doubts in his heart that had not yet been completely dispelled suddenly resurfaced.
He actually thought Jiang Sui had really changed.
We spent so much time laying the groundwork before, and it seems like we’re just waiting for him here.
She also said that it was dark and crowded, and I didn’t know what this woman was thinking about.
Song Sichen stood up with a cold face and glanced down at her condescendingly.
His tone was light, but his rejection was very obvious.
“There were so many people at the movie scene, are you planning to do something to me in the dark?”
