Chapter 65
The shower was running, and the bathtub was filling with water. Steam rose, making the transparent bathroom feel like a greenhouse. Feng Chengze, who had been abstinent for a few days, was clearly less patient than before, but he was still considerate and careful. He used his hand to support her, fearing she might hurt herself on the sink. Occasionally, he glanced at the mirror, seeing her hair cascading down and her head lowered, making it hard to see her expression.
After rinsing the sweat and scent under the shower, he carried her into the bathtub. The bathtub wasn’t large but big enough for two people. Her back nestled against his chest, and at this moment, he was the most solid float in the world. After the tub was filled, the water temperature turned out to be just right.
Ji Qingyu closed her eyes, “I was going to give you a twenty-minute massage, but now it can only be ten minutes.”
“Ten minutes today.” The ruthless capitalist wasn’t so easygoing. Even if the other party was his wife, he wouldn’t change his principle of not yielding an inch: “The ten minutes owed will be repaid tomorrow.”
“… Is that something a person would say?”
Ji Qingyu opened her eyes and turned to look at him, “Mr. Feng, has anyone ever told you that you have a very dark heart?”
“Yes.”
She was stumped by his response, “If I don’t repay it tomorrow, will there be a late fee?”
Feng Chengze chuckled, “Alright, you said it, not me.”
She angrily scratched and pinched him, causing the water to splash everywhere, even onto the tiles outside. He caught her hands and told her to stop messing around unless she wanted to take another bath. This made her immediately behave, afraid of disturbing a certain opponent during the truce period. She clumsily changed the subject, “I learned something big today!”
Feng Chengze was uninterested, “Mm.”
The big things she mentioned were usually not big things. Unless she unexpectedly met some senior or manager today, but with her cleverness, she would hide it well if she did.
“Feifei told me that a few years ago, I stayed at her place for over a month,” she said. “And she was the one who accompanied me to buy the pregnancy test. She knew I was pregnant before you did.”
Feng Chengze opened his eyes slightly, “What?”
“It seems I found out I was pregnant after we broke up.” She leaned back into his broad chest, snuggling, and placed his hand on her stomach, “It’s amazing.”
His hand paused, then gently caressed her. Unfortunately, aside from the little girl sleeping soundly in the children’s room, they didn’t seem to have a real sense of being parents. She didn’t, and neither did he.
Even though the water temperature was just right, after soaking for a while, it became a bit unbearable. Feng Cheng helped her up, and they dried each other off with towels before changing into pajamas and returning to bed.
Feng Chengze lay down calmly on his stomach while she sat on his lower back, giving him a haphazard massage. She kneaded and pounded. The strength she used was not even as good as Yuan Bao using a massage hammer on him. But he didn’t expect it to be very comfortable, so he just let her be.
“…I give up.”
Ji Qingyu occasionally glanced at the time on her phone screen, feeling like her arms were about to give out. When she looked, only three minutes had passed?
When necessary, one could find some fun. She rolled her eyes and, while pounding, asked in a playful voice, “Boss, how do you find my service?”
Feng Chengze couldn’t help but laugh. His face rested on the pillow, his eyes closed in leisure. This smile made him seem less distant than during the day.
Ji Qingyu thought he wouldn’t cooperate and was about to clench her fist and punch him hard again when he lazily spoke, “Average, a novice?”
She was startled, but then she was just happy. Relying on her improvisation, acting cute and silly, she managed to get her first customer to recharge five thousand and get a membership card immediately. But the higher the road, the higher the devil.
Without changing his expression, he followed her script. He gave himself the role of a fitness coach, coaxing her, this “weak and unfit person who clearly doesn’t exercise much and should strengthen her body,” into recharging eight thousand for a personal training package…
After turning off the lights, Ji Qingyu bit his arm hard. That’s not how you play!
In the dark, Feng Chengze chuckled softly and hugged her tighter. Rather than calling it a gentle haven, it was more like a paradise.
It was his.
And he hoped it was hers too.
The next morning, Ji Qingyu and Feng Chengze both woke up well-rested, having had a good night’s sleep and were in high spirits. They even had time to have breakfast with Yuan Bao.
As soon as they sat down, they saw Feng Jiayuan staring at her fingers, muttering, “Why does the nail fairy always come when I’m asleep? Can’t she come during the day?”
Sister Liu brought over the washed blueberries, “…”
“Because she has to work during the day,” Ji Qingyu replied with a smile.
Feng Jiayuan widened her eyes, “Even fairies have to work? That’s so sad!”
Feng Chengze, who was about to go to work, cleared his throat and glanced at Ji Qingyu, reminding her not to say such things to the child. He didn’t want to plant the seed of resistance to work in her mind, or else when would he ever be able to retire?
“Everyone needs to shine in their own position,” Ji Qingyu received the message from the ‘boss dad’ and said to her daughter with a serious face.
Feng Jiayuan pouted, “People aren’t light bulbs. They don’t need to shine.”
Ji Qingyu really couldn’t handle the future ‘Little Yuan Boss.’
Because in her heart, she also disliked going to work.
She couldn’t even swallow her own motivational speech, so she decided not to force it on her child. She glanced at Feng Chengze, signaling with her eyes, ‘Boss dad, your turn.’
“But people need to eat.” Feng Chengze picked up the coffee cup and placed it by Ji Qingyu’s hand, whispering, “Try it.”
Ji Qingyu wanted to say she was already full of energy today and didn’t need a pick-me-up, but she couldn’t resist his little gesture. She sipped the coffee, her lips touching the cup, and took a couple of sips, “Not bad.”
Still as bitter as life.
Feng Chengze continued to explain to their daughter, “Rice doesn’t fall from the sky; it grows from the ground. Someone has to do that job. That’s what your mom means—everyone has something they need to do.”
“So it’s very pitiful,” Feng Jiayuan said, chewing on a blueberry.
These five words left Feng Chengze stunned.
For the first time, Ji Qingyu saw a similar expression of headache on his face, and she almost couldn’t hold back her laughter, “It is pitiful, but, baby, are you happy when you watch cartoons?”
Feng Jiayuan nodded, “Happy.”
She quickly added, “But I can only watch for twenty minutes, so,” she held up her thumb and finger to show a small gap, “just this little bit of happiness.”
“Sometimes you have to do things that aren’t fun or are pitiful to get to the happy things,” Ji Qingyu said, “just like how people need money to buy delicious food.”
Feng Jiayuan reluctantly accepted this explanation. Mom had to be more capable than Dad!
Ji Qingyu looked at Feng Chengze triumphantly. He used a fork to pick up a piece of pear and fed it to her, silencing her.
“By the way, Dad!” Feng Jiayuan, almost done with breakfast, remembered she hadn’t asked her dad something important, “Grandpa said there will be a fun and interesting event soon.”
She was talking about the Yusheng celebration.
Feng Chengze nodded. In the children’s room, a small dress was already hanging, designed by a famous tailor for comfort and skin-friendliness. On that day, Feng Jiayuan would appear holding Chairman Feng’s hand.
Although many people knew Yusheng had a little princess, this would be her first official appearance at a major event since her birth.
“Can I invite my good friends?” Feng Jiayuan looked expectantly at her parents.
Children love to show off. If they have fun toys or delicious food, they want to tell everyone a thousand times. Not only did she tell her friends in the Rose class, but also those in the neighboring Sunflower class.
Ji Qingyu also looked curiously at Feng Chengze. She thought this was a bit uncertain, as it wasn’t a birthday party. However, unexpectedly, after looking at her for a moment and thinking for a few seconds, he nodded, “You can invite two friends. Think carefully about who you want to invite. The condition is that they must be willing and available to come.”
“Yay!!” Feng Jiayuan jumped off her chair, ran to Feng Chengze, and hugged him, standing on tiptoe to kiss him.
He saw the milk ring around her lips and quickly avoided it, “Wipe your mouth clean.”
“Should I prepare the inv…?”
“Invitation,” Ji Qingyu corrected.
“Right, invitation!”
“Yes, you can,” Ji Qingyu encouraged her, “Make sure to invite them sincerely.”
Feng Jiayuan nodded vigorously, “I’ll think about it carefully.”
After she left with her backpack, Ji Qingyu turned to Feng Chengze, who was drinking coffee, “I thought you wouldn’t agree.”
“Why not?” he replied, “She’s interested.”
His daughter would walk the same path he did.
He had also started making decisions at her age.
However… he looked up, his gaze falling on her fair face. Even he didn’t realize his eyes had softened. He believed his daughter would be happier than he was.
Ji Qingyu also had to go out today. She had an appointment with Chu Ning to continue looking at office buildings. This time, coincidentally, the building they were going to was very close to Yusheng, just a few minutes drive away, separated by only two streets. If they rented a high floor, they could see a corner of the Yusheng skyscraper from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Starting a brand and setting up a company involved many tasks, and they had limited time to spend on the office building. Around noon, Feng Chengze knew she was nearby. After asking for the address, he had the driver take him over to help them take a look. They were very satisfied with this office.
As Feng Chengze stepped out of the elevator, he saw Ji Qingyu waiting for him. She happily rushed over, hugging his slender waist, and, taking advantage of the absence of others, kissed him several times. “My feng shui master is here.”
Soon, she let go of him and, holding his hand, led him towards the office, chattering, “The space isn’t big, but it’s enough…”
Chu Ning, a close friend of Ji Qingyu but not very familiar with Feng Chengze, saw the couple walking hand-in-hand and smiled, “Mr. Feng is here.”
Feng Chengze also respectfully greeted her, “Ms. Chu.”
“Hey, why didn’t you call me Ms. Ji?” Ji Qingyu asked with a smile. This question instantly lightened the somewhat formal atmosphere.
Feng Chengze couldn’t say such things in front of others. He maintained a serious and composed demeanor as if the person who shamelessly coaxed her into getting a gym membership last night by holding her wrist wasn’t him but his twin brother, Feng Wang. He actually didn’t have much experience in looking at office buildings. However, as he walked around the place, both Chu Ning and Ji Qingyu couldn’t help but look at him, waiting for his advice.
“I think it’s fine,” he said. “Ultimately, it’s up to you. This area is mostly made up of office buildings with well-developed commercial facilities. If the budget allows, considering a convenient location is reasonable.”
In short, the place had no major flaws or issues; the only downside was the cost, but that wasn’t really a downside. Ji Qingyu wasn’t short on money. Her business, Yundan Shuiqing, had already started making profits, with substantial quarterly earnings. Chu Ning wasn’t short on money either. The two exchanged a glance and quickly made a decision.
Chu Ning took some videos and photos to send to a friend. Her phone rang, and she smiled apologetically before stepping out with her phone.
Only Ji Qingyu and Feng Chengze were left standing by the large floor-to-ceiling windows. They were still holding hands. She shook his hand, leaned closer, stood on tiptoe, and rested her chin on his shoulder, teasing, “With us being so close, aren’t you afraid I’ll come over to Yusheng to check on you anytime?”
She thought he would either say nothing or say he wasn’t afraid, and she could check anytime. He looked down at her for a moment, his gaze scrutinizing, and said calmly, “Whether you check or not is your business. I’ll check on you anytime.”
