Hu Jiaojiao frowned.
She knew the original owner of this body was unkind to her cubs, but that wasn’t an excuse for Monkey Xiao Tiao to steal.
Moreover, this body now belonged to her, and if she didn’t expose Monkey Xiao Tiao’s actions, the orcs in the tribe would continue to bully her as they did the previous owner.
“Long Mo is my mate. I bore him five cubs. If his prey isn’t meant for me, should it be for your mate? Or have you also given birth to a few cubs for him?”
Hu Jiaojiao retorted without hesitation.
“You! You!” Monkey Xiao Tiao turned red with embarrassment, speechless for a while.
“What ‘you’? Hurry up and bring Long Mo’s prey back,” Hu Jiaojiao demanded, hands on her hips, acting fierce.
However, with her charming and beautiful face, her expression lacked the sharp cruelty of the past and appeared more teasing than intimidating.
“I’ve already taken the prey home. There’s no way I’m giving it to you,” Monkey Xiao Tiao said, turning his head with a shameless expression.
“Fine, don’t give it to me. Then, when Long Mo returns, I’ll have him move into your house. He can sleep with your mate and beat your cubs. Since his prey is feeding your family anyway, he might as well live with you all!”
Hu Jiaojiao sneered, staring at Monkey Xiaotiao with a fake smile, her expression indifferent, as if saying: If you’re so eager to take Long Mo’s prey, go ahead and take him too.
“No way! How could that happen?” Monkey Xiao Tiao immediately flared up, his face twisted with anger.
Why should his mate sleep with Long Mo? This female is shameless, pushing her own mate onto others!
“Why not? You can’t hunt. Wouldn’t it be great if Long Mo helped feed your mate and cubs?” Hu Jiaojiao raised her eyebrows, decisively clapping her hands. “That’s settled. I’ll go find Long Mo right now and have him move into your house.”
With that, she turned and began walking out of the yard.
“No, no, wait! I’ll go get the prey right now, just don’t go!” Monkey Xiao Tiao panicked, truly frightened. A rogue like Hu Jiao Jiao would definitely follow through on her words.
Long Mo was infamous in the tribe, considered useless and a bearer of bad luck. No one wanted to be associated with him, let alone have him live in their home. The very thought made Monkey Xiao Tiao feel suffocated.
Without waiting for Hu Jiaojiao’s response, Monkey Xiaotiao hoisted the prey and fled as fast as he could, as if terrified she would change her mind.
Watching his retreating figure, Hu Jiaojiao chuckled.
As if he could outwit her—she had lived two lives!
The cubs, having overheard their conversation, stood by with expressions of frustration and anger.
They used to think Monkey Xiao Tiao was kind. While other orcs shunned and insulted them, calling them bastards and useless, Monkey Xiaotiao secretly gave them food, saving them from starvation.
But now, they realized the food had been stolen from them! And they had foolishly thought of him as a good orc!
Long Ling’er clenched her beast-skin skirt tightly in her hands. Thinking about Hu Jiaojiao’s conversation with Monkey Xiao Tiao, she looked timidly at her.
“Mother, are you going to abandon Father?”
Only males who were abandoned could seek new mates. The once evil mother had just turned kind, and she hadn’t enjoyed having a mother for long. If her father was abandoned, she would have to live with him in the dangerous forest. Though she liked her strong hunter father, she didn’t want to live in the forest.
“Even if she abandons Father, no one else will want him. So, why are you worried? Father’s prey is still ours,” Long Zhong remarked, rolling his eyes at her, clearly understanding her concern.
“Oh, that’s good…” Long Ling’er patted her chest with relief.
The two cubs didn’t give Hu Jiaojiao a chance to respond.
“Uh-huh…” Hu Jiaojiao almost choked on her own saliva.
These cubs really were the epitome of little villains…
“Mother will never abandon your father, just as I will never abandon you. We will always be a family,” she promised seriously.
No way! In the story, the original owner abandoned the villain because she despised him. When everyone in the beast tribe rejected him, she ran away, leaving the cubs behind. That’s why, after he turned evil, the first thing he did was kill her.
She wasn’t about to repeat the original owner’s mistakes.
“Liar,” Long Zhong coldly interrupted, not giving her any face. “You’re not letting Father live with us because you still despise him. You’re just lying.”
Hu Jiaojiao: “…”
Having such smart cubs wasn’t always a good thing.
“Our house is too small. If your father comes back, there won’t be enough space. Once I build a bigger house, he can come live with us,” she explained.
That was indeed her plan.
Hearing this, Long Zhong’s face grew even darker, as if he thought she was treating him like a fool.
“Liar. You don’t even know how to build a house.”
This wicked female had only ever beaten them before. Now she was lying. Clearly, she wouldn’t change.
“How do you know I can’t build a house?” Hu Jiaojiao raised her eyebrows, finding his skepticism rather amusing.
She suddenly thought this third cub was quite adorable. Well… he would be even cuter if he didn’t keep plotting to have the cubs kill her.
“You’ve never built one before,” Long Zhong huffed angrily.
“I never cooked for you before either, but I still managed to cook yesterday, didn’t I?” Hu Jiaojiao teased him.
“You! You’re still lying!” Long Zhong, unable to find a proper retort, turned his head away, sulking.
Hu Jiaojiao couldn’t help but laugh softly. She decided to stop teasing him—push him any further, and he might just explode like a balloon.
While she bantered with Long Zhong, Monkey Xiao Tiao began bringing back the prey one by one.
Hu Jiaojiao looked down. There was a large black bull weighing over 300 pounds, two adult spotted deer, and a white fox.
The bull and deer had clean, precise headshots, without a drop of blood on their bodies—clear signs of Long Mo’s obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Her gaze shifted to the white fox with half its head smashed in and its limbs broken.
“…”
She was certain Long Mo had done that on purpose.
The cubs’ eyes lit up with excitement at the sight of so much fresh prey.
So, their father had brought back all this meat! They wouldn’t have to go hungry anymore!
“Is this all?” Hu Jiaojiao frowned, questioning Monkey Xiao Tiao.
The story mentioned that Long Mo would send ten or more prey animals every half month, which Monkey Xiao Tiao had hoarded. And now, he was trying to fool her.
Long Yu’s face darkened as he glared at Monkey Xiao Tiao. “How much of Father’s prey have you hidden?”
He instinctively trusted that Hu Jiaojiao had a reason for her question. If she said it wasn’t right, then there had to be something wrong.
“I only took these! What more do you want? If you don’t believe me, come search my house!” Monkey Xiao Tiao snapped, glaring at both Hu Jiaojiao and Long Yu before turning and leaving.
His frustrated expression didn’t seem like a lie, causing a flicker of doubt to cross Hu Jiaojiao’s mind.
Long Mo’s prey must still be hidden somewhere. If not with Monkey Xiao Tiao, then where?
