“Hu Jiao Jiao, are you done yet? I’ve already told you, my Xiong Qiu would never do something like that.”
Xiong Hua’s face was full of impatience. She wished she could send Hu Jiao Jiao away immediately. After speaking, she turned to the little Xiong Qiu behind her, “Cub, tell her that you don’t know anything about this.”
Xiong Qiu looked guilty, stammering, “I… Ι…”
Seeing Xiong Qiu’s reaction, Xiong Hua was stunned. Realizing something, she glanced at the furious mother and her two children, then looked down at her trembling cub. Her eyes widened in disbelief.
“Xiong Qiu, why aren’t you saying anything? You brat, don’t tell me it was really you!”
She was so furious she almost spat blood. Thinking back to how confidently she had defended him just moments ago, her face instantly burned with embarrassment.
In her anger, she slapped Xiong Qiu on the forehead.
“Speak up! Is it true or not? Are you the one who did it?”
Now, Hu Jiao Jiao was a well-known figure in the tribe. Xiong Hua had just been scolded by her and was doing everything she could to avoid Hu Jiao Jiao. But this brat had actually gone out of his way to cause trouble with her. She was livid.
Hu Jiao Jiao stood there coldly, watching the two of them.
Before Hu Jiao Jiao could say a word, Xiong Hua grabbed Xiong Qiu by the ear and scolded him fiercely, “You troublemaker! All you do is get me into trouble! What did you do? Speak up, or I’ll beat you senseless!”
“Ow, ow, ow! Mom, I’ll talk! I’ll talk!”
With one ear being pulled, Xiong Qiu’s head was tilted awkwardly, and in a panic, he begged for mercy, trembling as he explained, “I… I didn’t hide Long Ling’er. I just told Lu Li where she was…”
Lu Li?
Hu Jiao Jiao’s eyes narrowed as she recalled the name. Lu Li was Lu Mian’er’s brother, a notorious
troublemaker in the tribe. He had been spoiled by his family from a young age, and was basically a replica of how Hu Jiao Jiao used to be. However, Lu Li and the Lu family weren’t on good terms with Lu Mian’er at this point, so how could he be involved with Long Ling’er?
“Why does Lu Li want to capture Ling’er? Where is she now?” Hu Jiao Jiao asked sharply.
Xiong Qiu shook his head fearfully, “I… I don’t know. I just told him where Long Ling’er was. I really don’t know what he did to her. It has nothing to do with me…”
“You’re lying!” Long Zhong shouted furiously, his eyes flashing with a dangerous gleam.
Even Xiong Hua didn’t believe him anymore. Poking him in the forehead angrily, she said, “Tell the truth! If you lie to me, you’re dead.”
“I’m telling the truth! I swear!” Xiong Qiu, on the verge of tears, quickly spilled everything he knew.
“Lu Li said Hu Jiao Jiao bullied Lu Mian’er, and he felt humiliated. That’s why he wanted revenge on Long Ling’er. He said all this himself in front of a bunch of other cubs in the tribe. You can go ask them if you don’t believe me… I really don’t know where he took Long Ling’er. Go ask Lu Li.”
Xiong Qiu was shaking uncontrollably. Furious, Xiong Hua slapped him again, “You idiot! Why did you tell him anything? How could you be so stupid…”
If Hu Jiao Jiao got angry, her newly built house would be destroyed again.
But just as Xiong Hua was worrying about her house and potential retaliation from Hu Jiao Jiao, the latter grabbed her two cubs and left without saying a word.
Xiong Hua froze.
Why did Hu Jiao Jiao just leave? Wasn’t she going to come after her for revenge?
“Mom, I know I was wrong. I’ll never do it again…” Xiong Qiu started crying pitifully, unable to understand why his mother, who used to help him bully the other cubs, was now hitting him because of them. Could it be that those cubs were her real children and she had realized he was adopted?
Hu Jiao Jiao had no time to seek revenge on Xiong Hua. She was only focused on finding Ling’er.
With her two cubs in tow, she stormed over to Lu Li’s house.
The Lu family had five members, but Lu Mian’er and her brother had already moved out. Now, only Lu Li and their parents lived there.
A large group of onlookers watched Hu Jiao Jiao’s dramatic march towards the house. When she reached the yard, Hu Jiao Jiao kicked the gate open, startling the family as they were preparing a meat stew.
“Lu Li, get out here!”
Lu Li’s parents were so scared they almost knocked over the pot. When they looked up, they saw a seductive and enraged female storm into their yard. Before they could react, Hu Jiaojiao grabbed Lu Li by the collar.
“Tell me where you’ve hidden Ling’er! Hand her over now, or I’ll make you regret it if something happens to her.”
Following behind her, Long Yu and Long Zhong couldn’t keep up with her pace. By the time they entered the yard, they saw Hu Jiao Jiao’s fierce, intimidating stance, even scarier than when she used to beat them. Surprisingly, they didn’t feel afraid this time.
Lu Li’s parents rushed over to pull Hu Jiao Jiao away, shouting, “Let go of my Lu Li! Who are you? Why are you bullying our child? Are you crazy?”
Even though they were afraid, they were protective of their son, who was their spoiled little cub.
Naturally, Hu Jiao Jiao wasn’t as strong as a male, so Lu Li’s father easily shoved her away. She staggered back, but quickly regained her balance without needing her cubs’ help.
Lu Li’s mother fussed over her son, holding him tightly, “Are you okay? Did that crazy woman hurt you? Let me check…”
Annoyed, Lu Li pushed her away, “I’m fine, stop fussing over me.”
Meanwhile, Lu Li’s father stepped in front of Hu Jiao Jiao, trying to sound tough, “What do you want, Hu Jiao Jiao? We haven’t done anything to you.”
“What do I want? Your son kidnapped my cub!” Hu Jiao Jiao glared at Lu Li, “Where is Ling’er, Lu Li?”
The news that Hu Jiaojiao came to cause trouble quickly spread throughout the tribe.
A kind-hearted neighbor quickly ran to inform Lu Mian’er, “Lu Mian’er, Your family’s in trouble!”
Lu Mian’er, who had been eating with Ying Yuan, looked confused, “My family? What happened?”
The neighbor slapped his thigh, and quickly changed his words, “Hu Jiao Jiao stormed into your house and is beating your brother, Lu Li! You and Ying Yuan better go check it out!”
