Treasure Chest Dreams: A Survival Adventure Chapter 28

Chapter 28 Birthday Surprise 2

Chenyue was already impatient while her sister was changing her clothes: “I’m ready, sister.”

“Surprise!” Lu Chenxi took off Chenyue’s blindfold.

Chenyue, stunned by the sight before her, didn’t react at all. She just stared blankly at everything.

“Do you like the birthday surprise I prepared for you, my little princess?” Lu Chenxi saw that Chenyue was overwhelmed by the scene. Although she knew her sister would definitely love it, she still asked.

“I like it, I like it so much! Did you prepare this for me?” Chenyue still couldn’t believe it. She had only seen this kind of scene in her classmates’ stories and on TV.

She never thought that her birthday could be decorated so dreamily, like a real princess’s birthday.

As far back as Chenyue could remember, at least for the past two years, her birthday was just a simple meal at home, and her sister would buy her a small cake.

Chenyue didn’t get angry because her birthday was simpler than other children’s. She knew that her family didn’t have much money.

Chenyue, who was overwhelmed by the room’s decoration, finally noticed that her sister had changed her into a princess dress. The sky-blue princess dress was studded with sparkling crystals, the kind that little girls her age loved the most.

“Don’t just stand there, birthday girl. Let’s make a wish,” Lu Chenxi lit all the candles on the birthday cake and let Chenyue make a wish.

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you…” Lu Chenxi sang the birthday song while Chenyue made her wish.

Chenyue, closing her eyes and making a wish, listened to her sister’s singing and silently wished in her heart: “My birthday wish is to live happily ever after with my sister. I want my sister to be happy every day.”

After making her wish, Chenyue took a deep breath and blew out all the candles on the cake.

“Now we can cut the cake,” Lu Chenxi handed Chenyue the cake knife that was placed aside.

The two sisters happily ate a piece of birthday cake and then some of the delicious food on the table. They were both very satisfied.

Chenyue, full and happy, looked curiously at the gift boxes piled under the Happy Birthday sign.

She had noticed the gift boxes earlier, but she didn’t know if they were decorations along with the balloons or if they actually contained gifts.

She couldn’t help but ask her sister, “Sister, are there gifts in those boxes?”

Lu Chenxi played coy, “If you want to know, just open them and see.”

Hearing her sister’s words, Chenyue immediately opened a gift box in three quick movements.

“Snow White’s dress-up doll!!!” Chenyue turned into a screaming chicken, excitedly shouting.

Lu Chenxi, whose eardrums were blown, rubbed her ears and looked at Chenyue with a helpless expression, “Don’t get too excited, there are more.”

Chenyue opened all the gifts one by one, all her favorites: “I declare that I am the happiest person in the world today. Thank you, sister.”

Chenyue put down the gifts and hugged her sister, who had done all this for her, expressing her gratitude.

“So am I. If you’re happy, I’m happy,” Lu Chenxi’s eyes sparkled with tears. It was tears of joy. Seeing Chenyue happy made her even happier. Everything she had done was worth it.

After the birthday party ended, life returned to its usual routine. The only difference was that Chenyue had a lot of new toys and no longer felt bored.

Sometimes, she could spend half a day dressing up dolls by herself, and she would even drag Chenyue to play house with her, one playing the doll’s father and the other playing the doll’s mother.

Although Lu Chenxi thought it was childish, she could only spoil her own sister. Besides, after playing for a while, she found it quite fun.

But she couldn’t just play around all day. There were many things waiting for Lu Chenxi to do.

With the supplies she had bought from the supermarket this time, plus what they had stored before, it was no exaggeration to say that it was enough for Lu Chenxi and Chenyue to eat for three or four years.

So now, Lu Chenxi’s goal had moved beyond just surviving. She was aiming for a comfortable life. First, she set a small goal: to level up both of them to Level 2.

But leveling up to Level 2 wasn’t that easy. These days, whether it was signing in or opening treasure chests, Lu Chenxi hadn’t found any items that could help them level up.

Lu Chenxi, a little anxious, still went to the trading center to look around. As expected, no one would trade such a valuable item.

Heaven helps those who help themselves. In the end, Lu Chenxi found an item for sale in the System Mall: a Level Up Card. Using a Level Up Card could help players level up by 1 level, which was exactly what she needed now.

But obviously, such a powerful item came with a hefty price tag. It cost 2,000 System Coins per card, and they needed 4,000 System Coins for both of them.

Converting this amount to the 1 System Coin reward for each daily sign-in task, Lu Chenxi and Chenyue would need to sign in for 2,000 days to afford the Level Up Card.

By then, the grass would have withered. So, Lu Chenxi definitely couldn’t just wait. She had been trying to obtain System Coins through other means these days.

Besides the 2 they got from daily sign-ins, the few they opened from treasure chests, the occasional one or two Chenyue fished up from the sea, and the 10 Lu Chenxi got for killing a Level 1 sea monster, they had only accumulated a little over 100 System Coins. It wasn’t far from the goal of 4,000, but it was still out of reach.

“Oh my god, when will we ever get 4,000 System Coins?” At this moment, Lu Chenxi really missed the Golden Python she had killed on the deserted island.

That was a Level 3 monster. Killing one would reward 1,000 System Coins. They would only need to kill 4 to get 4,000 System Coins.

Lu Chenxi, eager to level up, didn’t even care about the potential dangers. Of course, their equipment levels had been getting higher, and now killing Level 3 sea monsters wasn’t a difficult task.

But how long had they been in the game world? It wasn’t easy to encounter a Level 3 Python. The last time, they were either lucky or unlucky. It was definitely unlucky for ordinary players.

If Level 3 monsters were so easy to find, wouldn’t that leave other players with no chance of survival?

Most players could only encounter Level 1 monsters. Players with Level 1 weapons could barely handle them.

A few players who encountered Level 2 monsters could handle them if they were lucky enough to have Level 2 weapons. If they were unlucky and only had Level 1 weapons, it would depend on their luck. If those unlucky players who didn’t even have weapons encountered Level 2 monsters, they would be doomed.

“Don’t give up, don’t give up. We’ll get 4,000 System Coins soon,” Lu Chenxi’s slogan was loud and clear.

Just as Lu Chenxi was guarding the beach every day, hoping to get 4,000 System Coins by killing sea monsters, another opportunity to level up came to her.
