Chapter 5 Hut Upgrade Success
Another flash of white light, and the dilapidated thatched hut with leaks all over transformed into a small wooden hut that could shelter from the wind and rain, although the roof was still thatched.
Looking at the system panel now, the information had changed:
[House Level: Level 1 (Defense ability is Level 1, can withstand Level 2 or lower creatures)
Hut Upgrade Conditions:
Stone x30
Planks x20
Iron x2
]
The upgrade was successful. The house looked much more sturdy, unlike before when it seemed like it could be blown down by the wind at any moment. More importantly, it could withstand Level 2 or lower creatures, at least providing some minimal security. Lu Chenxi smiled in satisfaction.
Then she took her sister’s hand and walked inside together.
After the upgrade was successful, the whole house seemed much larger, divided into a bedroom, living room, kitchen, and bathroom.
Lu Chenxi didn’t care about the rest, but when she saw that there was finally a toilet, she was overjoyed. The sisters quickly went to the toilet. If there wasn’t one, they would have had to solve the problem on the sea.
The small wooden house was empty, without any furniture or household items, not even a bed. It seemed like they would have to sleep on the floor tonight. The system was really stingy.
Life was not easy, sighed Little Lu.
It was about 5 pm, and the sky gradually darkened. Fortunately, they didn’t have to make dinner, and of course, they couldn’t even if they wanted to.
The sisters each ate a loaf of bread and half an apple, and then prepared to go to sleep.
At this time, the air conditioner blanket that Lu Chenyue had received as a sign-in reward came in handy.
Perhaps due to the special nature of the survival game, the temperature was clearly very high during the day, but when night fell, the temperature quietly dropped. When players realized the temperature drop, those who were prepared were fine, but those who weren’t prepared and were already feeling unwell were very likely to catch a cold.
Lu Chenxi and her sister were also wearing their coats while sleeping. They had no choice but to wear them. The air conditioner blanket was too thin. Then they used half of the air conditioner blanket as a cushion and half as a cover, after all, they couldn’t just lie on the floor.
Thankfully, this air conditioner blanket was 2.4 meters long, just enough for an adult and a child.
Lu Chenxi lay down with her sister, but she didn’t close her eyes to sleep immediately. Instead, she opened the chat channel to see how other players were doing that day.
[Chat Channel]
[Why does it get dark so early here? I’m still out looking for food and water. How can I get back to the hut in the dark?]
[Upstairs, hurry back. Didn’t you hear the system say at the beginning that you can’t leave the hut at night?]
[I’m so thirsty. Does anyone have a kindhearted boss who can lend me some water? I’ll pay you back double later.]
[I’m so hungry too. I can’t find any food at all. I’m only able to hold on until now thanks to the bottle of water I got from the sign-in system.]
[I got a loaf of bread from the sign-in reward. I didn’t dare to eat it all. I only ate a small half. There’s nothing but seawater around. I was so thirsty that I took a sip. It almost salted me to death.]
Lu Chenxi saw this and her eyes flashed. She sighed again, thankfully for her sister’s good luck.
[Did everyone upgrade their huts? I only got thatch today. There are trees everywhere, but I don’t have any tools. I can’t chop down trees with my bare hands. This broken place even has extra tough thatch. It took me a long time to get enough thatch (ps: Guys with tools, please private message me, thanks)]
[Damn, this weather is crazy. Why is the temperature difference between day and night so big? Fortunately, I found a treasure chest during the day and got a thick military coat. I’m using it as a blanket now.]
I finally found a treasure chest today, but it only opened to reveal some useless stones.
…
Lu Chenxi thought that this person probably hadn’t successfully upgraded his hut yet. He didn’t know that he would need stones for the next upgrade soon, but it wouldn’t be long before someone came to trade with him.
While thinking, Lu Chenxi sent a private message to this person, striking first. Once the usefulness of stones was announced, they would definitely become scarce: “Are you there? How many stones do you have? I can trade water with you.”
In less than a minute, the other person replied:
“I have 10 stones. These were opened from a treasure chest, so they must be useful. So I want to trade for 1000 ml of water and 500 g of food.”
Lu Chenxi saw that this person was asking for a lot. Although stones were indeed necessary materials for upgrading the hut, food and water were also very scarce now. If it weren’t for Chenyue’s good luck, she wouldn’t even have water to drink.
“No, you’re asking for too much. I don’t have that much. I can only offer 500 ml of water.”
The other person thought for a moment, probably believing that Lu Chenxi really didn’t have that much, and replied with another message: “500 ml of water, plus 200 g of food. That’s the lowest I’ll go. I won’t trade for less.”
Lu Chenxi thought about it and decided to trade. She wanted to upgrade her house to Level 2 as soon as possible, which would make it safer.
After the trade was successful, Lu Chenxi looked at the chat channel where players were still chatting enthusiastically, then looked at Chenyue who was sleeping soundly beside her, and closed her eyes to sleep soundly.
Perhaps because she was sleeping too soundly, Lu Chenxi didn’t notice that the sea at night wasn’t as calm as it seemed. Unknown creatures would occasionally jump out of the water.
The next day
Lu Chenxi woke up first. Seeing that it was already bright outside, she woke up her sister.
The sisters didn’t wash up. They each ate half an apple for breakfast. Water resources were precious now, and Lu Chenxi didn’t want to waste a single drop.
After finishing the apples, Lu Chenxi remembered that it was a new day, which meant they could sign in again. She quickly completed the daily sign-in task with her sister.
[Ding, congratulations to player Lu Chenxi for receiving the sign-in reward: Water Purifier x1]
[Ding, congratulations to player Lu Chenyue for receiving the sign-in reward: Fishing Rod x1, Pillow x1, Blanket x1, Bread x10]
Lu Chenxi looked at her sister’s sign-in rewards and sighed, “As expected, my lucky sister.”
But her own reward seemed pretty good too. With a water purifier, she wouldn’t have to worry about drinking water anymore.
She put the blanket and pillow into her space, thinking that she could sleep more comfortably tonight.
Then Lu Chenxi looked at the water purifier in her hand:
[Water Purifier:
Capacity: 4 liters
Function: Can purify any water resource into clean drinking water (ps: Depending on the water resource put in, you may receive additional surprises)
]
Lu Chenxi was very satisfied to see that it could purify 4 liters of water a day. They could save some for trading if they used it sparingly.
She put the water purifier aside and then looked at the fishing rod her sister had received:
[Magical Fishing Rod:
Function: No need to use bait to fish. Whether you can catch fish depends on the user’s luck. (ps: More functions need to be developed by the player themselves)
]
Lu Chenxi looked at the fishing rod, paying special attention to the luck mentioned in the description. She decided to leave the fishing task to her sister.
