Chapter 6 Fishing for an Orange Treasure Chest
“Chenyue, I have a task for you. Since you got this fishing rod, you’ll be in charge of fishing from now on. Whether I can eat fish in the future depends on you, okay?”
Lu Chenxi said to her sister with a smile. Children need to be recognized, especially now that they are in a survival world. Chenyue also needs to grow up quickly.
Seeing her sister trust her so much, Chenyue happily replied, “Sister, no problem. I’ll definitely catch lots and lots of fish for you to eat.”
After taking care of the sign-in rewards for the day, the sisters walked out of the house together. As soon as they did, Lu Chenxi saw two treasure chests floating not far from her.
She thought that if she had come out a little later, she might have missed these two treasure chests. That would have been infuriating.
Lu Chenxi was about to go into the water to retrieve the treasure chests like she did yesterday, but her sister stopped her.
“Sister, don’t go into the water. Let’s use the fishing rod to reel in the treasure chests. There might be monsters underwater, it’s dangerous.”
Yesterday, Chenyue wanted to stop her sister from going into the water because she felt a sense of unease looking at the sea, but she didn’t have a way to get the treasure chests yesterday.
Today, she received this fishing rod from the sign-in. When she held it in her hand, she thought that she could use it to reel in the treasure chests. She had been playing fishing games since kindergarten, and she always came in first.
Lu Chenxi looked at the fishing rod in her sister’s hand, then at the treasure chests, and thought her sister’s suggestion was not very reliable.
Besides the distance issue, it was hard to be accurate to reel in the treasure chests directly with the fishing rod. It seemed too difficult to actually do.
Chenyue saw that her sister didn’t believe her and continued to emphasize, “Good sister, just trust me this once. I really feel it. I can use this fishing rod to reel in the treasure chests.”
Seeing her sister’s determined look and remembering her good luck, Lu Chenxi decided to let her sister try. If it didn’t work, she would go into the water herself.
Chenyue was very happy to see that her sister was willing to believe her. She quickly ran to the edge of the island and tried to reel in the treasure chests.
Whether it was because Chenyue’s luck was really too good or because the fishing rod was really that good, after about ten tries, Chenyue hooked the first treasure chest.
Lu Chenxi helped her carefully pull the treasure chest back.
As they pulled, Lu Chenxi was worried that the fishing rod would break. But she was overthinking. It was a system product, how could the quality be so bad?
It took about half an hour to successfully reel both treasure chests onto the shore.
It was then that Lu Chenxi realized that one of the treasure chests today was orange. The orange treasure chest was higher level than the red one, so the materials it contained should be better.
Lu Chenxi still decided to let Chenyue open the treasure chests. A ready-made lucky charm, why not use it?
The first red treasure chest, when opened, yielded [Pot, Pan, and Utensil Set x1, Flint x3, 500g Noodles x1].
The second orange treasure chest, when opened, yielded [Wooden Bed Blueprint x1, Wardrobe Blueprint x1].
The items from both treasure chests were very useful, especially the blueprints from the orange one.
You see, there was a workbench in the system panel, but to make household items or weapons using the workbench, blueprints and materials were both essential.
Lu Chenxi rubbed her sister’s forehead twice, rubbing off some of her good luck.
She thought to herself, amused, that it was a good thing they were the only two sisters around. If other players knew about her sister’s luck, they would probably try to steal her away.
Now that they had cooking tools and noodles, Lu Chenxi decided to make noodles for lunch. It was a shame they didn’t have any salt.
Remembering that she hadn’t used the water purifier she got from the sign-in, she quickly grabbed a basin and went to the sea to fill it with water, pouring it into the purifier.
Then, while she still had time, she took inventory of their supplies: [Water x16, Bread x15, Apples x3, 500g Noodles x1, Flint x3, Air Conditioner Blanket x1, Pillow x1, Quilt x1, Pot, Pan, and Utensil Set x1, Fishing Rod x1, Water Purifier x1, Wooden Bed Blueprint x1, Wardrobe Blueprint x1].
From yesterday to today, they had consumed 2 bottles of water, 4 loaves of bread, and 2 apples. They had also traded two bottles of water and a loaf of bread for thatch and stones.
Although these supplies were for two people, it was still rare for players who had only been in the survival world for two days to have so many supplies.
With the wooden bed blueprint, they needed to build a bed. The sea was damp at night, and they couldn’t keep sleeping on the floor.
The workbench showed that building a wooden bed required 4 planks. Lu Chenxi planned to trade for them in the trading hall using water.
After getting the water purifier, they wouldn’t be short of water anymore. They could trade for some essential supplies.
Then Lu Chenxi posted her trading information: [(500 ml Water) Trade (Planks x2)]. She posted two listings.
This price was also determined by Lu Chenxi based on the information she had gathered from the chat channel last night.
Planks were much harder to get than thatch. Thatch could be slowly cut with sharp stones, but planks were basically impossible to get without tools like axes. And a tree only yielded 2 to 3 planks.
Then she didn’t look at the trading center anymore. She told her sister to go outside and fish, and she went to make lunch.
Fortunately, her sister had incredible luck. Otherwise, even if they had noodles, they wouldn’t be able to cook them. The [Pot, Pan, and Utensil Set] that came out of the treasure chest this time was quite rich. It included a pot, a cleaver, a cutting board, 5 bowls, 5 pairs of chopsticks, 5 spoons, a ladle, and a basin.
Although it was missing many types of kitchen utensils compared to her kitchen at home, Lu Chenxi was already very satisfied.
She was excitedly starting to heat up the pot and light the fire. Wait, no, there was no natural gas anymore.
This was just a simple earthen stove that needed firewood.
Lu Chenxi had no choice but to trade another 200g of water for a large bundle of dry branches.
For convenience, Lu Chenxi traded with Li Qihua, the same player she traded planks with last time.
For Li Qihua, dry branches were everywhere. He agreed with Lu Chenxi to continue looking for him next time she needed them, and there would be discounts for larger orders.
It took about half an hour to finally finish two bowls of steaming noodles.
What was exciting was that, perhaps because they used seawater, when the water was purified by the water purifier, the salt in the water was also made into salt grains.
Although there was only a tiny bit, it was better than nothing. So Lu Chenxi added a little salt when she cooked the noodles, making them taste better.
She was about to go out and call her sister back for dinner when she saw her rushing in, handing the fish in her hand to Lu Chenxi:
“Sister, look, look, I caught a fish! Sister, you can eat the fish I caught.”
