Chapter 28
Jiang Muning was wearing sneakers and ran towards the child at the fastest speed.
The child cried in pain, wanting to stand up, but his knee hurt.
Jiang Muning finally ran to the child’s side, quickly picked him up, and ran towards the shore.
However, the tide was rising faster than she had imagined. Suddenly, a wave hit, and the slender Jiang Muning was directly knocked down by the wave.
“Ah!” Jiang Muning cried out in pain, falling with the child.
Seeing the tide still rolling in rapidly, Jiang Muning had no time to think about anything else and picked up the child again.
As soon as she stood up, she was knocked down by the waves again.
“Little friend, why don’t you walk yourself, otherwise we’ll both die.” Jiang Muning said anxiously.
She was already weak, and carrying a five or six-year-old child was a bit strenuous.
The child nodded tearfully, so Jiang Muning took his hand and ran towards the shore with all her might.
However, the child’s legs were short, and he was quickly caught up by the waves. With a splash, the child fell, and Jiang Muning struggled to help him up.
Just as she did, their feet were already submerged in the water.
Jiang Muning’s heartstrings tightened, and the shadow of death enveloped her.
Just at this moment of danger, Jiang Heng rushed to her side: “Go!”
Jiang Muning looked up and saw Jiang Heng rushing over. He picked up the child, grabbed Jiang Muning’s hand, and ran towards the shore.
Without thinking, Jiang Muning ran forward with all her might.
The waves roared, like a terrifying shadow, opening their giant mouths.
This was the fastest Jiang Muning had ever run, and she finally reached the shore before the tide completely submerged the reef.
The child’s parents had already arrived, and seeing their child being rescued, they hurriedly hugged him.
The child’s mother cried and patted the child’s hand: “I’ve told you how many times, don’t play there, you won’t listen. That sea will eat people.”
The child was obviously scared and buried himself in his mother’s shoulder, crying, releasing his inner fear.
Jiang Muning was soaking wet, her entire face pale from running, and she was gasping for breath.
The nearby fishermen bowed gratefully to them: “Thank you two for saving my son. Little girl, your clothes are all wet, go to my house and dry them quickly, lest you catch a cold.”
Jiang Muning was a bit embarrassed at this moment, without any restraint, she nodded and said: “Thank you.”
Then, under the guidance of the fisherman, the two went to the fishing village by the sea.
Jiang Muning’s clothes and hair were soaked, and she used a hairdryer to dry them in the room.
The child’s mother brought a bowl of hot ginger soup and said kindly: “Girl, come, drink a bowl of soup to ward off the cold.”
“Thank you.” Jiang Muning smiled and accepted it.
“It should be me thanking you. In that situation, if it weren’t for you, my little Tiger would have been swept away by the sea. In recent years, many children have played there, and the tide has been slow when it rises, and they have all been swept away.” Little Tiger’s mother said with lingering fear.
Jiang Muning smiled faintly: “It’s indeed dangerous to play by the sea, adults should pay more attention in the future.”
“Yes.” Little Tiger’s mother agreed, then went about her business.
When Jiang Muning finished drying her clothes and came out of the room, Jiang Heng and the fisherman Li Hu had already chatted for a while.
“So that’s settled. In the future, any extra conch and fish you find, you can sell them to us.” Jiang Heng said with a smile.
Li Hu’s face was full of smiles: “Okay, thank you, little brother. Today, thanks to you for saving my little Tiger, otherwise, stay for a meal before you leave.”
“Yeah, stay for a meal.” Little Tiger’s mother, who was about to cook, said enthusiastically.
The fishermen on the island were inherently simple, and since Jiang Muning had saved their only son, they naturally wanted to thank them properly.
Jiang Muning glanced at the time and politely declined: “Thank you, brother and sister-in-law, I have to go home to cook. I’ll definitely come to mooch a meal next time.”
“Okay, we’ll treat you both well next time.” The fisherman said with a smile.
Coming out of the fisherman’s house, Jiang Muning and Jiang Heng walked side by side.
Jiang Heng teased: “I didn’t expect you to be so brave.”
“In that situation, I couldn’t just stand by and watch, right?” Jiang Muning said casually. “Although I’m not a saint, that was a flower of the motherland after all.”
However, recalling the scene at that time, Jiang Muning’s heart skipped a beat.
“By the way, did you settle it?”
“Of course, I just talked to Tiger brother, and from now on, he’ll sell us his conch and the like for two yuan each, and the fish will be sold at two yuan and one yuan per pound, and rare seafood will be calculated separately.”
Jiang Muning gave a thumbs up: “Amazing, we can make a lot of profit from this price difference.”
“Of course.” Jiang Heng raised his chin, a look of pride on his face. “Just like you said, that’s an increase in income for them. Besides, you saved his son, so the negotiation went so smoothly.”
Thinking about what had just happened, Jiang Muning chuckled and said: “It was so dangerous just now, I didn’t expect you to come and save me.”
Jiang Heng patted her head: “Am I the kind of person who would stand by and watch? Besides, you, Jiang Muning, are the only one I can bully. Besides, we’re now revolutionary comrades who depend on each other.”
Jiang Muning raised her eyebrows: “That’s true.”
Looking at his hair, which was tousled by the sea breeze, and her own hair, which was clumped together because of the seawater, she looked disheveled.
Looking at each other’s sorry state, they both laughed.
On the other side, Qin Muye returned to the family compound, only to find the door closed.
He entered the house and, as expected, Jiang Muning was not there.
“Where did she go?” Qin Muye frowned slightly.
Seeing that there were no vegetables or rice at home, Qin Muye decided to go to the army canteen to get some food, so that Jiang Muning wouldn’t be hungry when she got home.
As he walked out of the house, he met Gu Manli, who was coming towards him, at the entrance of the family compound.
“Captain Qin.” Gu Manli greeted him with a smile.
Seeing her, Qin Muye just hummed in response, then continued walking forward.
“Captain Qin.” Gu Manli called out anxiously, blocking his path.
Seeing this, Qin Muye finally stopped and his cold face showed no emotion: “Something?”
Gu Manli took out a black woolen wristband from her bag, her face full of smiles, and her bright eyes looked at him.
“I saw you training at high intensity in the army today, and your wrist seemed to be uncomfortable. This is a wristband I made, wearing it can protect your wrist.” Gu Manli said shyly.
It turned out that Qin Muye’s wrist had been slightly sprained during training this morning, and it hurt even more after he used the bathroom at noon.
Unexpectedly, Gu Manli noticed it.
Seeing his silence, Gu Manli said softly: “Let me put it on for you.”
As she spoke, she extended the hand holding the wristband.
Jiang Muning had just entered the family compound when she saw this stimulating scene.
The setting sun shone on the handsome man and beautiful woman, standing opposite each other, the picture seemed beautiful.
The girl looked at the tall man in front of her, her eyes revealing a hint of love.
If the subject wasn’t her military officer husband, she could have enjoyed the sight for a while.
Jiang Muning watched with interest: “Oh, a Hongxing out of the wall, huh.”
