Trying to Run Away After Marriage? Outplayed by a Sweet Wife Chapter 4

Chapter 4

The sudden voice startled her. Jiang Muning turned her head abruptly, only to see Qin Muye standing at the door. His tall figure was shrouded in darkness, giving off a chill.

Seeing that look, Jiang Muning swallowed.

Why did Qin Muye’s gaze make her feel like she was the bad guy?

He knew she had someone else in her heart and didn’t want to marry him, but after all, they were newly married, and she was already thinking about divorce…

The more she thought about it, the tighter Qin Muye’s lips pursed, and his fist clenched.

Noticing the blue veins on his arm, Jiang Muning’s heart skipped a beat: Was he going to hit her? The book didn’t say Qin Muye was a domestic abuser!

Jiang Muning sat up abruptly and immediately shook her head: “No.”

Qin Muye walked in front of her, his eyes slightly red, his bony fingers pinched her chin: “Jiang Muning, you’re a military wife, you can’t just get a divorce and leave me.”

Huh? Why did this sound strange?

“I didn’t want a divorce.” Her chin hurt slightly, Jiang Muning’s delicate eyebrows furrowed. “Muye, it hurts.”

Hearing this, Qin Muye came to his senses, his hand retracted as if he had been electrocuted, and his eyes flashed with annoyance.

He forgot that his grip was very strong, did he pinch her?

Looking at Jiang Muning rubbing her chin, Qin Muye wanted to ask, but he couldn’t speak.

“I was just saying it casually.” Jiang Muning mumbled.

Qin Muye adjusted his emotions and said with a frosty face: “I know you’re reluctant to marry me, but military marriages can’t be dissolved.”

Huh? Reluctant? Isn’t it him who is reluctant?

Just as she was about to explain, she saw Qin Muye’s cold face, he turned around without looking back, striding out.

Jiang Muning rubbed her chin: “This man is really fierce.”

That night, Qin Muye returned to the room and prepared to sleep.

Thinking of the provocative things from last night, Jiang Muning felt a little nervous.

She had to admit, Qin Muye was really good in that aspect. She enjoyed it last night.

But he didn’t drink tonight, he shouldn’t roll in the bed with her, right?

Sure enough.

Qin Muye took out a straw mat and a thin blanket from the cabinet.

Seeing her gaze, Qin Muye said in a low voice: “I’ll sleep on the floor.”

After he finished speaking, Qin Muye spread the straw mat on the floor and lay down directly.

She had already guessed this outcome, Jiang Muning didn’t force it, she closed her eyes and prepared to sleep.

After extinguishing the kerosene lamp, the light in the room dimmed, only moonlight shone in through the window.

Qin Muye quietly turned his back to the bed and looked at Jiang Muning lying on her side facing away from him.

The image of her hugging his waist last night flashed in front of his eyes, Qin Muye felt his mouth dry.

But she didn’t like him.

If he forced her, it would only make her dislike him even more.

Thinking of this, Qin Muye endured the discomfort in his body and closed his eyes.

The next day, when Jiang Muning woke up, Qin Muye was no longer on the floor.

She didn’t want to get up, but yesterday Qin Muye said he had to go back to the army, so the return visit was brought forward.

Thinking of Jiang Heng, that kid’s haggard appearance, Jiang Muning’s mood instantly brightened.

She lifted the blanket and got out of bed, preparing to wash up and go back to her parents’ house.

She arrived at the kitchen and saw that there was no food in the pot.

Jiang Muning was just feeling depressed, when she saw two warm buns and an egg appear in front of her.

She looked up and saw Qin Muye’s cold face.

“Thank you, Muye.” Jiang Muning replied sweetly, reaching out to take the bun.

Her index fingertip accidentally touched his palm and scratched it.

Qin Muye’s heart skipped a beat, and his ears felt hot.

Seeing her take the bun and eat it gracefully, Qin Muye didn’t say anything. He silently peeled the eggshell and stretched his hand out to her.

Seeing this, Jiang Muning subconsciously lowered her head and took a bite of the egg.

Wang Guifen just walked into the kitchen and saw the egg in Qin Muye’s hand. She stomped her feet in anger: “Second son, I saved this egg for you, why did you give it to her.”

She said, Wang Guifen reached out to grab it.

Jiang Muning was quick and stuffed the remaining half of the egg into her mouth, handing her the eggshell, her mouth full and she couldn’t speak clearly: “Here, take it.”

Wang Guifen’s face turned green with anger, she slapped the eggshell out of her hand: “I’ll deal with you sooner or later.”

Hearing this, Jiang Muning quickly turned her head, puffed up her cheeks and complained to Qin Muye: “Husband~ My mother-in-law said she’s going to bully me.”

Hearing that address, Qin Muye’s face suddenly turned red, then he coughed lightly and said seriously: “Mom, don’t bully my wife.”

Wang Guifen was so angry that her hands trembled: “Vixen.”

Jiang Muning made a face at her: “She’s my husband’s vixen.”

Although she didn’t understand the word “husband,” for some reason, that address, coupled with Jiang Muning’s coquettish tone, made his heart race.

Wang Guifen was so angry that she was panting. Jiang Muning was much more sharp-tongued than she imagined. When Qin Muye went to the army, she would have no one to support her, she would definitely deal with her properly.

Seeing Wang Guifen leave in a fit of rage, Jiang Muning was even more satisfied with this cheap husband.

With her stomach full, Jiang Muning and Qin Muye prepared to return to her parents’ house.

In the main room, looking at the meager return gift in front of her, Jiang Muning’s delicate eyebrows furrowed, she looked at the man beside her: “Just this?”

In this era, return visits were very important, it symbolized whether the new bride was valued in her husband’s family.

The original book mentioned that Wang Guifen was dissatisfied with this marriage, so she gave very little as a return gift.

Qin Muye thought it was inappropriate, so he asked Wang Guifen to take it out, but she refused.

Although the original owner felt wronged, her weak nature made her afraid to offend Wang Guifen, and she finally persuaded Qin Muye to forget it.

Qin Muye originally planned to buy some meat in town, but he was afraid of delaying the time, so the original owner stopped him.

Later, because of this incident, Jiang Muning was often laughed at, even the villagers looked down on her.

Jiang Muning knew it would be meager, but she didn’t expect it to be so meager.

There were only some candies, four scallions and two bags of vermicelli, nothing else.

Qin Muye’s expression was equally solemn: “Mom, didn’t I buy a lot of things?”

“This marriage is the Jiang family clinging to us, it’s not bad that they can give this much.” Wang Guifen said proudly. “If you don’t want it, then don’t take anything.”

She bought so much, she couldn’t give it all to the Jiang family, it would be a waste.

Seeing this, a cold glint flashed in Jiang Muning’s eyes. She was not the original owner, she couldn’t let Wang Guifen bully her.

Thinking of this, Jiang Muning gently pulled Qin Muye’s sleeve, she said in a wronged tone: “Muye, I know you don’t like me, but you shouldn’t bully me like this.”

“I didn’t.” Qin Muye blurted out subconsciously.

“This is my first return visit. If I only take these, wouldn’t I be laughed at? When you’re not home, I’ll be bullied here, who in my family will stand up for me?” Jiang Muning choked back a sob. “Maybe when you come back, you’ll only see my dead body.”

“Don’t talk nonsense.” Qin Muye’s expression darkened, his sharp gaze fixed on Wang Guifen. “Mom, take out the things I bought.”

Seeing his cold gaze, Wang Guifen couldn’t help but feel a pang in her heart.

Of her two sons, she was most afraid of this youngest son. It was because he always had a cold face, and from childhood to adulthood, he never changed his mind once he decided on something.

“This is enough, I’ve given the other things away.” Wang Guifen said nervously.

Hearing this, Qin Muye’s voice was unquestionable, his voice was not angry but imposing: “Do you take it out, or should I find it?”
