Chapter 8 : The unexpected truth
Yun Siying returned to her room with the dagger and immediately shut the door. She lay flat on the bed and let her consciousness enter her spatial dimension. She pulled out the wood-type crystal cores she had previously collected, held them in her hand, and began absorbing their energy to cultivate her wood power.
After absorbing ten level-one wood crystal cores, her wood element abilities advanced to Level One. She then moved on to level-two wood crystal cores, and after absorbing twenty of them, her powers reached Level Two. When she opened her eyes again, it was already one in the morning.
She felt full of energy and couldn’t fall asleep, so she switched on the room light and began organizing the original owner’s books. To her surprise, she discovered a beautifully crafted brocade box at the bottom of the book trunk. Her intuition told her that what she was looking for might be inside.
Carefully, she opened the box, revealing a crystal-clear lotus jade pendant. Her eyes lit up with delight it looked exactly like the one she had owned during the apocalypse. She couldn’t help but wonder if there was a connection between the two.
Her heart raced with excitement, and her hands trembled slightly. To verify her suspicions, she probed the pendant with her mental energy and sure enough, there was something inside it. Unable to wait any longer, she took out the dagger and made a small cut on her fingertip, letting her blood drip onto the jade pendant.
As a few drops of blood soaked in, Yun Siying retracted her hand and watched as the blood was absorbed by the lotus jade pendant at a speed visible to the naked eye. The moment the final drop was absorbed.
The pendant transformed into a stream of light and flew directly into her forehead. Her consciousness instantly entered her spatial dimension again. But… was this really her space?
She was stunned. The formerly simple, warehouse-like space had changed drastically and no longer resembled its old form.
Now, a quaint courtyard had appeared in the space. In the center stood a main house, flanked by two side wings. In the courtyard was a well, and next to the well stood a radiant nine-colored tree taller than a person, its trunk and leaves shimmering in a mix of nine dazzling hues.
There were several peach trees scattered around, adorned with blooming pink flowers. As the breeze blew, delicate petals floated through the air like a gentle spring shower.
Outside the courtyard, about ten acres of farmland stretched out, along with a two-acre vegetable field. A clear stream flowed nearby, filling the space with the soft, soothing sound of running water.
Overwhelmed with excitement, Yun Siying wondered if her physical body could enter the space as well. The moment the thought crossed her mind, she was pulled in physically and she screamed internally in disbelief.
She walked around the main house and discovered that the interior was fully furnished in an antique style, the furniture all exuding a sense of refined luxury. Just a glance was enough to tell that these items were incredibly valuable.
Next, she explored the left wing, where she found three large storage rooms. The first warehouse was filled with over a thousand large red wooden chests. She opened one and couldn’t help but laugh with glee.
She was rich.
Inside were gold bars, gold ingots, jade pieces, pearls, luminous night pearls, antique treasures, famous calligraphy and paintings, gold and silver jewelry, elaborate headdresses, silk fabrics, medicinal herbs, agate, jadeite, phoenix crowns more than a thousand boxes of riches. There were also various types of precious wooden furniture such as rosewood and pearwood, decorative screens, and more. If even one of these items were sold at auction in modern times, she could live comfortably for several lifetimes.
She noticed a particularly delicate box, and when she opened it, she found a bundle of letters, several house deeds, and a stack of black-and-white photographs. Among them were pictures of her grandfather in his youth and images of him with her grandmother.
She was startled, it seemed this space once had an owner, and that owner had been Mr. Shu’s wife. Yun Siying then remembered something: when the original owner was six, she had seen this very jade pendant in Shu Zhisheng’s study. She had liked it at first sight and asked the old man for it. He gave it to her, and she had kept it ever since.
The second warehouse held all the items from her original post-apocalyptic space. Everything was neatly arranged on shelves by category, making it easy to find anything she needed.
The third warehouse contained all her preserved food supplies. She guessed this space had a built-in preservation function to keep perishables fresh.
Yun Siying’s mood soared to its peak as her consciousness withdrew from the space. She lay back on the original owner’s bed, her body relaxing for a moment. Thoughts of her secret base crossed her mind, and a long-forgotten smile appeared on her face. It seemed she was finally here to enjoy some happiness in this life.
Recalling the bloody twists of the original owner’s past, such an uncanny coincidence made it impossible for her to sleep. She wanted to confirm whether the two people who looked so alike were truly mother and daughter. She turned over, got out of bed, put on her clothes, and quietly opened her door.
With her palm extended, a green vine shot out at a speed visible to the naked eye, then split into four smaller vines. Each vine snuck under the doors of Shu Zhisheng, Shu Chengzhi, Shu Ruxue, and Shu Guofeng and his wife.
Yun Siying kept pouring her supernatural energy into the vines. Pink flowers bloomed on each vine inside the rooms, releasing a faint fragrance. Those who inhaled the scent instantly fell into a deep coma, unable to wake for two hours.
Once everyone was unconscious, the vines wrapped around the doors and gently opened them. With everything ready, Yun Siying swiftly entered the room of Shu Guofeng and his wife, drew blood from each of their arms with a syringe, then quietly closed the door and left without leaving a trace.
Next, she entered Shu Ruxue’s room and quickly took a blood sample as well. Turning on her flashlight, she carefully examined Shu Ruxue’s face, it was indeed her true face.
She smiled coldly and gave Shu Ruxue a pill called the Painful Menstrual Pill, which would cause her lower abdomen to ache every month during her period and permanently prevent her from getting pregnant. This was her revenge for Shu Ruxue having killed the original owner.
Yun Siying didn’t want to kill Shu Ruxue outright, death would be a relief without pain. It was better for her to live in suffering, slowly paying for what she had done, as revenge for the original owner.
After returning to her own room, Yun Siying entered her spatial dimension once more, drew some blood from herself, and took out two paternity test potions. She poured a potion into each of four bowls.
She dripped Shu Guofeng’s and Shu Ruxue’s blood into the first bowl the potion instantly turned green.
“Tsk, just as I suspected, this Shu Ruxue is not Shu Guofeng’s biological daughter.”
Next, she dripped Tang Lingxue’s and Shu Ruxue’s blood into the second bowl the potion also turned green.
“Tsk, this Shu Ruxue is not Tang Lingxue’s biological daughter either. This will be interesting to watch.”
Then she dripped Shu Guofeng’s and her own blood into the third bowl, the potion instantly turned red.
“She is actually Shu Guofeng’s biological daughter.”
Finally, she dripped Tang Lingxue’s and her own blood into the fourth bowl, the potion turned red again.
“The original owner really is the biological daughter of Shu Guofeng and his wife, but sadly, that relationship was severed by them.”
The original owner diedbeaten to death by Tang Lingxue and passed away quietly amid the cold neglect and abandonment of her grandfather, father, and brother. No one knew the truth except for her, the one who came from the end of the world.
She first dealt a small revenge to Shu Ruxue. The Shu family were the blood relatives of the original owner the family that gave her life and raised her. But she could neither take revenge nor forgive them on her own accord. Their relationship with the original owner ended here.
