Shavri took a few seconds to realize just how strange this scene was.
Chen Nian didn’t move, his gaze sweeping over Shavri’s bound calves, waist, and arms, finally settling on the Alpha’s chest. The struggle had left tight restraints digging into his skin, creating very visible red marks that reflected in those amber eyes.
Shavri followed Chen Nian’s gaze and looked down.
Then he completely lost the ability to think.
The bedroom was dead silent.
Shavri looked at himself; he had been doing this job since he was fifteen, but for the first time today, he felt that something was very off. The restraints and metal chair were meant to keep his body fixed in place. Entering the data core consumed a massive amount of mental energy, which could lead to physical spasms and loss of control. For safety reasons, he had to secure himself, just like a seatbelt.
However, Chen Nian’s gaze seemed to take on a tangible form, feather-light, brushing against every part of his body, like a discerning merchant inspecting a product, or perhaps… admiring?
Shavri didn’t know what chaotic thoughts were running through his mind; his brain was still foggy.
“Unbind me,” the Alpha said, his voice slightly hoarse as he issued the command to the smart butler.
The belts restraining him loosened with a soft sound, and Shavri finally regained the freedom to move. He raised his hand, twisted his other wrist, and stood up.
Chen Nian looked up as the Alpha rose, and the awkwardness in his violet eyes made him feel a surge of mischievous thoughts. Especially since Shavri tilted his head slightly to the side, still hesitant to make eye contact.
Chen Nian uncrossed his legs, switching to the other side, his posture elegant and casual, as if he were once again in a nightclub booth. This time, however, he was the guest, and the tall Alpha before him would serve him.
Shavri’s chest and arms bore the marks of the restraints, partially hidden by his shirt, barely visible.
He took a deep breath and asked, “What are you doing here?”
He distinctly remembered locking the door.
“The smart butler opened the door for me. When I passed by, your bedroom door was ajar, and it said I could come in.”
Chen Nian paused, then smiled, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you.”
Shavri weakly explained, “It’s not what you think.”
“What do you think I think?” Chen Nian countered, clearly the one in the lower position yet acting like he was in control, softly suggesting, “How about… you describe it to me in detail?”
Shavri fell silent; he wasn’t good with words, and facing the teasing in Omega’s eyes made his brain short-circuit.
“I was working,” Shavri could only explain honestly, “This neural adapter requires a lot of mental energy, and there’s a risk of spasms, so I had to secure myself to avoid any danger.”
“I see,” Chen Nian nodded, not genuinely believing that Shavri had any special preferences.
Over the past few days, the Crown Prince had been exceedingly innocent; sometimes, Chen Nian felt he didn’t seem like he was twenty-four at all.
Shavri asked, “Did you need something from me?”
Chen Nian replied, “When do you have time? I want to visit the Ring Sea Base. Chen Ci sent me a lot of photos today, and I want to see the sea up close.”
It was a perfectly normal request. Shavri sighed in relief, thought about his schedule for the week, and said, “How about next Wednesday? I’ll take you down.”
The request was resolved in just a few words, but Chen Nian didn’t rush to leave. For some reason, he suddenly wanted to tease his husband a bit.
“You’ve got red marks all over you. If you don’t move around, it’ll be uncomfortable, right?” Omega’s voice was soft, the end of his words slightly rising, almost teasingly.
“I’m fine, it’s nothing,” Shavri replied, silently leaning against the nearby table.
Every time he came out of the core of Cinnabar, he had to immediately lie down and rest; it usually took several hours to recover. The high consumption of mental energy was no joke.
And this time, Shavri had been caught in a vulnerable position by Chen Nian, which made him so excited that his blood pressure spiked a bit, causing him to feel dizzy and see things blurring.
—He needed to lie down and rest quickly.
As Shavri was thinking about how to ask Chen Nian to leave, he suddenly saw Chen Nian stand up and walk gracefully toward him.
The young man stopped in front of him, his clear eyes holding a hint of deep affection under the dim light, and he raised his hand, about to caress Shavri’s cheek.
Like a lover, gently and tenderly stroking.
At that moment, Shavri’s already elevated blood pressure reached a new peak, and everything went black in front of him.
He couldn’t even hear his own voice; his legs could no longer support his body, and he stumbled, about to fall.
“Hey!”
Chen Nian hadn’t expected Shavri to suddenly collapse; he hurriedly tried to catch him, but the tall Alpha was too heavy, and in his panic, he ended up stepping back a few paces.
The mechanical arm extended at the moment of the incident, but it stopped midway.
Chen Nian ultimately couldn’t hold Shavri up; he couldn’t even adjust his direction to fall onto the softer bed, and they both tumbled to the ground.
Fortunately, the bedroom had a carpet, so the fall wasn’t too painful.
Chen Nian let out a muffled grunt, pinned under Shavri, whose head bumped against his shoulder, with most of the Alpha’s weight pressing down on him.
The ends of Shavri’s curly hair brushed against his neck and cheek, carrying a rich scent of sherry, and Shavri’s body was radiating the heat of youth, almost burning.
But Chen Nian had no other thoughts in his mind because he was simply too heavy! He felt like his insides were about to be squeezed out of his mouth!
“Hey!” Chen Nian struggled to push himself up a bit.
God knows he just wanted to help Shavri smooth out the wrinkles on his shirt shoulder! How did it end up like this?!
Chen Nian moved Shavri’s shoulder, straining to flip him over onto his back, and only then did he notice that Shavri’s face was unusually flushed.
He could even clearly see two streams of blood slowly flowing from Shavri’s prominent nose, which was particularly striking.
“Shavri!” Chen Nian exclaimed, raising his head to shout, “Call a doctor!”
The smart butler had already called for the royal physician the moment Shavri collapsed. Chen Nian was at a loss; he didn’t know what was wrong with Shavri, only able to grip his sleeve and wipe away the blood.
The blood smudged, leaving a bright red mark on the Crown Prince’s nose.
The mechanical arm extended, offering a pill: “Your Highness.”
Chen Nian immediately shoved the pill into Shavri’s mouth, anxiously watching him.
At that moment, Chen Nian finally noticed the terminal beside Shavri was flashing incessantly, displaying that the Crown Prince’s blood pressure had spiked to 180/115 at one point.
Chen Nian: ?
Wait, Shavri is so young, and he has high blood pressure???
“Please don’t worry,” the smart butler’s voice calmed Chen Nian’s emotions, “His Highness’s excessive consumption of mental energy has caused a chain reaction in his body. The pill he just took is a blood pressure medication; he’ll be fine soon.”
“Is that so?” Chen Nian sighed in relief; since the smart butler was so calm, it should be okay.
Chen Nian knelt beside Shavri, watching him for a while. Sure enough, the abnormal flush on Shavri’s face quickly faded, and the blood pressure readings on the terminal gradually returned to normal levels.
Chen Nian let out a breath of relief.
Logically, Shavri should be waking up now.
He reached out, gently shaking the Alpha’s shoulder, tentatively calling, “Shavri?”
Shavri’s eyes remained tightly shut, unmoving.
Chen Nian grew worried again.
He looked around the room; the smart butler had fallen silent, and Chen Nian could only frown, continuing to observe Shavri’s condition.
“Shavri, you can’t die,” Omega couldn’t help but whisper, “If something happens to you, I… I’ll be left a widow, won’t I?”
Chen Nian almost blurted out “my brother,” but at the last moment, he swallowed the sound.
Shavri kept his eyes tightly closed, but what Chen Nian couldn’t see was that the Alpha’s hand, resting at his side, silently clenched into a fist, as if he was struggling against some thought.
No matter how much he called, Shavri didn’t respond, so Chen Nian could only stand up. Fortunately, his nosebleed had stopped.
Chen Nian said, “Let’s lift him onto the bed.”
The mechanical arm controlled by the smart butler extended, smoothly lifting Shavri onto the bed.
Chen Nian worriedly touched Shavri’s forehead, then checked his breathing, which was steady and long, as if he had simply fainted.
Seriously, why did he have to come find Shavri tonight? He could have just waited until tomorrow morning to talk about it.
Chen Nian helped Shavri cover up with a blanket, took a wet wipe from the mechanical arm, and wiped away the last bit of blood from Shavri’s nose. He sighed in frustration, ready to leave.
Once he confirmed his footsteps had faded away and the sound of the door closing came, Shavri finally opened his eyes.
He had been awake for a while; the effects of the elevated blood pressure had only lasted a short time. After all, no matter how much mental energy was consumed, Shavri was still a strong Alpha.
But Shavri couldn’t possibly open his eyes; it was just too embarrassing! He had no idea how to face Chen Nian!
Just thinking about the earlier scene made Shavri feel dizzy again.
Chen Nian had simply walked over, raised his hand, and before he could even touch him, he collapsed.
For an Alpha, this was an absolute humiliation.
Shavri raised his hand and pressed it firmly against his still-warm cheek, and after two seconds, he muttered, “Why was he in my room?”
The smart butler remained silent.
“I distinctly remember locking the door. Did you let him in?”
“Prince Chen Ci is your Prince Consort; I thought…”
“You thought,” Shavri emphasized, “Siert, I am your true master. You let Chen Ci in while I was working; what if he accidentally affected me?”
“I would have stopped Prince Chen Ci in time,” the smart butler replied, but his voice was noticeably weaker.
Shavri fell silent; he was actually a bit angry.
Angry at himself for being so weak, fainting so badly, and even having a nosebleed!
He had never experienced anything like this before.
His blood pressure had returned to normal, but his head still hurt; he desperately needed to sleep.
Yet Shavri felt conflicted inside; he didn’t know if he could fall asleep smoothly tonight.
Just thinking about what had happened made him feel so embarrassed that his toes curled, as if he could dig out a palace in the air.
Shavri painfully lifted the pillow to cover his face, groaning as he turned over.
As Chen Nian left Shavri’s room, the royal physician happened to arrive, and the butler waited at the door, nervously asking, “How is His Highness?”
“He’s okay, the smart butler said the situation has stabilized,” Chen Nian replied, unsure, stepping aside to let the physician in.
The butler keenly noticed the bloodstains on Chen Nian’s sleeve: “Your Highness, are you injured?!”
Chen Nian hurriedly explained, “No, it’s Shavri’s blood. He suddenly had a nosebleed, and I wiped it for him.”
The butler sighed in relief, then turned to look at Chen Nian with appreciation.
—The Prince Consort cares so much for His Highness; it seems their relationship is growing even warmer.
How wonderful.
