Xiao Liang quickly reacted, smiled meaningfully, and said, “Nothing, I just remembered I forgot to wash a piece of clothing. I’ll go wash it first, you keep embroidering.”

Setting down his embroidery, he got up, flashed a smile at the baffled Fang Ziyu, and walked out, nodding at Chen Xin as he passed.

Meanwhile, Fang Ziyu wondered. He had washed all the clothes this morning; why would there be more now? What was wrong with Liang?

Shaking his head, he decided not to dwell on it and continued embroidering his clothes. By the time Xin returned, he would have almost finished embroidering this garment. When she wore this winter garment, she would surely look even more beautiful. Thinking of this, a proud smile crept onto his lips.

“Ah!” Suddenly being hugged from behind, Fang Ziyu exclaimed in shock.

Seeing him startled, Chen Xin didn’t think about surprises anymore and spoke softly, “It’s me, Xiao Yu’er.”

Hearing Chen Xin’s voice, Fang Ziyu’s body paused, then he turned around and jumped onto Chen Xin, wrapping his legs around her waist, hugging her neck and burying his face in her shoulder, greedily inhaling her comforting scent. These actions took only a few seconds.

Seeing this, Chen Xin also hugged him back, as if trying to merge into his body, with great strength.

“I missed you,” Fang Ziyu said softly after a moment of silence.

“I missed you too, Xiao Yu’er.” Kissing his hair, Chen Xin replied.

Fang Ziyu’s eyes gradually regained the radiance they had lacked in the past few days. He believed that Xin had rushed back from so far away in just a few days, she must be exhausted. He wondered if she had eaten well.

Looking up at Chen Xin, he asked, “Xin, have you eaten?”

“Yes.”

They had been on the road all morning, and as they got closer to Linjia Village, Chen Xin had no mood to stop and eat. It was almost lunchtime now, and she didn’t want to bother Xiao Yu’er to cook for her. It would be better to eat together with dinner, so she decided to tell a beautiful lie.

Hearing this, Fang Ziyu didn’t think much. He believed Xin wouldn’t lie to him. He lowered his head and enjoyed the quiet time between the two.

“Oh, Xin, Liang is still outside.” Thinking of Xiao Liang’s expression just now, he knew something was up with the washing-the-clothes. He must have seen Xin return and wanted to leave space for the two of them.

“Ziyu, I’m happy for you that your fiance is so good to you.” Xiao Liang held Fang Ziyu’s hand and said gently with his eyes full of tenderness.
