Chapter 40: Phone and Punishment
Chen Xin, feeling refreshed after a shower, entered the room and saw him arranging the winter coat she embroidered today.
“Xiao Yu’er, what are you doing?”
Fang Ziyu turned around, seeing Chen Xin’s hair dripping with water, he quickly picked up a new cloth and helped her wipe it, “I’m just finishing up a few stitches for the hem. Since there’s some free time, might as well finish it.”
“From now on, you’re not allowed to embroider at night.” She rubbed his head.
“Mm.”
Then Chen Xin smirked mysteriously, “Xiao Yu’er, sit on the bed first, I have something to show you.”
Taking the cloth from his hand and placing it aside, she slowly dried her hair from root to tip.
Fang Ziyu, also curious, went to sit on the bed, his large and beautiful eyes fixed on Chen Xin.
Chen Xin bent down and retrieved the black sports bag that came with her from the modern world from under the bed. She pulled out the latest and most advanced NB1 mobile phone, tapped the screen with her finger, and it instantly lit up.
After packing away the bag, she quickly climbed onto the bed and embraced Fang Ziyu, saying, “Come, this is something from my hometown. Let me show you what my hometown looks like.”
She opened a video and played a documentary about modern city life, from the founding of the nation to the 21st century, without needing an internet connection.
Fang Ziyu watched with great curiosity, staring at the glowing object in front of him, slightly smaller than a basin. It moved? There were people, strange boxes that moved quickly, tall and beautiful buildings, and the clothes and hairstyles were all strange. Women with big bellies? Men earning money to support their families? … Fang Ziyu couldn’t help but exclaim from time to time.
And Chen Xin explained beside him, making Fang Ziyu marvel even more.
At the end, Fang Ziyu hugged Chen Xin’s waist, saying sadly, “So, your hometown is so wonderful.”

“And I prefer it here. Beautiful mountains and clear waters, fresh air, and most importantly, I love you.” She whispered the last three words in his ear.
It was the first time Chen Xin had said these three words, and it excited Fang Ziyu so much that he replied with red eyes, “Me too.”
“What?” Chen Xin wanted to prompt him to continue, her heart pounding.
But Fang Ziyu’s throat tightened, his face flushed, and he couldn’t say anything no matter how hard he tried. “Xin, I…”
Seeing this, Chen Xin didn’t force him. After all, this was the nature of men in the matriarchal society, and he was already doing well. Let it come naturally; she was willing to wait.
“It’s okay.” She stroked his cheek to comfort him.
Fang Ziyu was so anxious that tears fell, wetting Chen Xin’s clothes. Why was he so useless? Would Chen Xin be upset?
Feeling a chill on her chest, Chen Xin quickly lifted his head and saw his tear-stained face. Chen Xin didn’t expect that what was supposed to be a romantic and beautiful moment would turn out like this. She felt sorry for him and said, “Xiao Yu’er, if you cry, it hurts me.”
With that, she kissed away the tears on his face. At that moment, Chen Xin decided to stop talking and took action directly, sealing his lips with hers.
“Mm…” Fang Ziyu was caught off guard by Chen Xin’s kiss, looking at the person in front of him but staring into her pitch-black eyes.
When Chen Xin finally released his lips, she said earnestly, “I understand your feelings, and I trust you.”
“Come, let’s watch movies through the long night.”
Because the gender roles were reversed in the matriarchal society, to prevent Fang Ziyu from seeing muscular men and being unable to enjoy the movie, Chen Xin had to find some anime. She found a movie called Kung Fu Panda, which she hadn’t seen before and didn’t know what it was about.
“Xin, what’s this?” Intrigued by the new things, Fang Ziyu temporarily forgot about what had just happened and pointed to the panda, asking.
“This is a very precious and rare animal from my hometown.”
“Is that a snake? Oh my god! Is that a tiger?! That’s a monkey! … Master’s kung fu is so amazing!”
Listening to his words, Chen Xin found his occasional wide-eyed look and exclamations cute, while Fang Ziyu was watching the movie, but Chen Xin was watching Fang Ziyu.
But soon he fell asleep, with all the excitement of watching the movie, Chen Xin turned off the phone, covered him with a blanket, and went outside the courtyard herself.
“An Ji.” Chen Xin raised her head to look straight ahead and called out softly.
“Mistress.” In an instant, a shadow flew in from outside the courtyard and knelt respectfully in front of Chen Xin.
“Rise.”
Seeing her stand up, she spoke lightly, “Tell me about that thug.”
“Yes, her name is Lai Pilin. She often loafs around this area near Wuding Town, stealing chickens and dogs. She’s been caught and beaten a few times, but her father’s ruthless behavior forced them to let her go. Until yesterday, when she was kicked away by me, she’s still unconscious now. Her ribs are definitely broken.”
In fact, since Chen Xin returned, An Ji also investigated Lai Pilin’s situation, just in case Mistress asked questions.
“Oh? Just broken ribs are not enough.” Saying that, she disappeared from the spot.
