Chapter 67
Xin Yu Courtyard
As Fang Ziyu stepped through the arched courtyard gate, he curiously treaded on the raised black-brown wooden boards, which appeared unusually shiny and smooth after being treated, extending all the way to the entrance of the wooden house.
In the gentle breeze were exquisite rattan chairs, tea tables, and some unknown items.
“What are those, Xin?” Fang Ziyu pointed to those exquisite items and asked.
Chen Xin raised an eyebrow and looked over. “Chairs and tea tables made of rattan, and that’s an outdoor parasol embroidered by craftsmen. It can provide shade, and below it is an outdoor recliner. We can lie down and stargaze after taking a walk at night.”
Then she noticed his slightly narrowed and content expression, as if he were already immersed in the scene, which made her amused and helpless.
She rubbed his head. “Don’t you want to go inside and take a look?”
Inside, modern pastoral and retro styles were cleverly combined, with homemade warm-colored striped sofas, hollow square floor lamps, golden nanmu low tables, cute decorations on the walls, and a golden nanmu bed, wardrobe, and dressing table. A floor-to-ceiling lattice window with a white curtain embroidered with various colored cartoon fish swayed slightly, offering a panoramic view of the courtyard outside.
“Xin, what if it’s windy or raining? There are so many books.” Fang Ziyu looked at the lattice window and asked. Although there were verandas, it was inevitable that strong winds and storms would still affect the room.
“Don’t worry, there are two windows outside that can be closed.”
Upon hearing this, Fang Ziyu realized how thoughtful and considerate Chen Xin was, gradually losing the excitement and joy he had before.
He turned to face Chen Xin, his eyes filled with tenderness as he looked at everything in the room. “Xin… You’ve been so busy. It must have been hard.”
“Silly, this is also my home, and I’m willing to work for it.” Chen Xin emphasized again, hoping that Xiao Yu’er wouldn’t always think he was a burden to her.
That wasn’t the case. Without Xiao Yu’er, she wouldn’t have found joy in life. How could he know that everything she did was actually motivated by him, and she enjoyed it? Even if Fang Ziyu did nothing but quietly sit there, when Chen Xin looked back at him, it was as if she owned the whole world.
“Young Mistress…” Suddenly, Yi Mo’s voice came from outside the courtyard.
“Xin, it’s Yi Mo and Yu Ju.” Fang Ziyu smiled gently as he looked outside.
“Mm.” Chen Xin took his hand and smiled lightly in response. When they went out, they saw Yi Mo and Yu Ju carrying small packages, looking around with smiles on their faces, discussing something.
Upon hearing the voices, the two quickly looked towards them and respectfully said, “Young Mistress, Master”
Seeing this, Chen Xin waved her hand. “Alright, no need for so many formalities. Don’t I know your temperaments? Go find a place to stay.”
Yi Mo immediately jumped up happily. “Young Mistress is so nice! Yu Ju, let’s go and see how the courtyard is.”
The more mature Yu Ju couldn’t hide her smile either and straightforwardly said, “Yeah, let’s go.”
“Oh, Young Mistress, it seems like the Shopkeeper of a tavern has something urgent to discuss with you.” Yu Ju, who had taken a few steps, suddenly remembered something and turned to Chen Xin.
Chen Xin’s eyes flashed upon hearing this and she nodded. “Alright, I got it.”
Yu Ju also nodded and turned to Fang Ziyu beside her. “Master, I’ll go check out the courtyard first. We’ll come find you later with Yi Mo.”
With that, he hurriedly trotted off to catch up with Yi Mo, who had already walked far ahead.
