Chapter 5: Is He Your Type?
“My mom said no!”
“Your mom said no again?”
“Brother Zhuo, how many times already? Is it still the same line?”
“Hahaha, no fresh tricks?”
“This has become your catchphrase.”
Facing his roommates’ teasing, Jin Zhuo lazily replied, “Whether it’s a catchphrase or not, it works.”
It really worked.
He didn’t need to rack his brains to think of ways to refuse, just mentioning his mom would do.
Qin Yingxia was stunned, her eyelashes fluttering slightly as she suppressed a smile.
Why was he still using the same excuse as in high school…
Perhaps her gaze was too intense, making it hard to ignore.
The next second, Jin Zhuo’s eyes met hers.
Qin Yingxia clearly noticed the smile on his lips deepening.
She retracted, hiding behind Xu Siwan.
Jin Zhuo withdrew his gaze, his tone indifferent as he addressed his roommates, “Are you guys full? Let’s go.”
The four of them left the cafeteria one after another.
Xu Siwan: “That guy’s name is Jin Zhuo, he’s from the law school. Logically, law students have a silver tongue, he should be good at sweet-talking.”
Yu Zhizhi laughed, biting into a crab roe, “I think Senior Jin doesn’t seem like the type who’d sweet-talk, maybe he hasn’t met a girl he likes…”
Qin Yingxia didn’t say anything, she quietly ate her crab.
Two pairs of eyes immediately turned to her, “Why aren’t you gossiping?”
Qin Yingxia was a little confused, “…What should I say?”
Yu Zhizhi had a mischievous thought, “Yingying, is Senior Jin Zhuo your type?”
“…No, not really…”
She panicked.
Afraid her thoughts would be exposed.
Afraid that her years of secret crush would only be met with Jin Zhuo’s “My mom said no.”
Even though she came to Imperial University to see Jin Zhuo with her own little intentions, she needed to take things step by step.
However, Qin Yingxia hadn’t found a suitable opportunity to “take things step by step.”
Xu Siwan laughed, “Don’t tease her, she looks like she’s about to cry.”
Perhaps heaven heard Qin Yingxia’s heart’s call and gave her the opportunity.
During the half-month delay of military training, Imperial University’s recruitment fair was held as scheduled.
Among the many clubs, the three giants were the Student Union, Media Club, and Broadcasting Club, each year they would stage a battle for new recruits.
Every program held by the school had to go through these three giants.
The Student Union was responsible for mobilization, the Media Club was responsible for capturing photos and videos, and the Broadcasting Club handled the host and etiquette teams.
However, the annual battle for new recruits was about to be silenced this year.
Because of a major leadership reshuffle.
The position of Student Union President was passed on to Xie Chi, originally the principal intended to give it to Jin Zhuo, but Jin Zhuo strongly recommended Xie Chi, even writing a 5,000-word recommendation letter to the dean.
Fortunately, Xie Chi was also excellent enough to pass the school’s assessment.
That recommendation letter had been framed by Xie Chi and hung on his headboard, according to him, it was the most praise Jin Zhuo had ever given him, and it was all true.
Jin Zhuo, on the other hand, spoiled him.
“Yeah, in my mind, you’re the perfect image.”
Xie Chi felt a sense of floating on clouds, “Alright! I’ll do it!”
“Okay~”
Successfully fooled.
Jin Zhuo himself held the honorary position of Media Club President, whenever something came up, he would still ask Xie Chi to handle it, claiming it was “the capable should bear more.”
Xie Chi was very pleased, he was used to taking charge.
One or two, he was in charge.
The final straw that broke the camel’s back was Pei Lanhe.
This guy also became a hands-off manager, handing all the Broadcasting Club matters to Xie Chi.
Xie Chi: “I’m asking, you can’t just ride a mule or a horse like this, right?”
Pei Lanhe took off his headphones and smiled at him, “My Brother Chi is the man among men, the male among males, a mere Broadcasting Club matter…”
Xie Chi blinked in confusion, “…You’re right.”
Jin Zhuo and Pei Lanhe did this for a reason, the three clubs had never gotten along well in previous years, every year there would be some kind of trouble during the recruitment fair.
Now that the three leaders were all in one dorm, and Xie Chi became the main person in charge, he had absolute power.
This year’s recruitment fair would definitely be peaceful.
Sure enough, that night Xie Chi posted a notice in the general group.
[Xie Chi: @All members This year’s recruitment fair, the three clubs will recruit together, no need to separate.]
…
“Brilliant! This way we only need to do one-time work!”
Xu Siwan lay on the bed giggling, just as Yang Dai came out of the bathroom after taking a shower, passing in front of her, “Hey Dai Dai, you’re the technical department head of the Media Club, right? Did Jin Zhuo give you any notice?”
Yang Dai was drying her hair, “No, he doesn’t like to manage these things.”
Qin Yingxia lay on the bed quietly listening with her ears perked up, she couldn’t describe what she felt.
It was like eating a lemon candy, there was the sourness of a secret crush, and when she heard topics related to him, she could taste the sweetness after the sourness.
It was also like going back to high school, her friends always talked about him.
In the first year after Jin Zhuo went to university, the discussion about him in the school only increased.
“Literature Top Scorer” and “Genius” were already common labels on him.
He was like the protagonist of this world, wherever he went, he would shine, never letting anyone down.
“Yingying, are you asleep?” Yu Zhizhi pulled on her bed curtain.
“Not yet.”
Qin Yingxia propped her chin, lifted the bed curtain to look down, “What’s up?”
Yu Zhizhi winked at her, “I just wanted to ask which club you’re planning to interview for?”
“I want to go to the Media Club.” Qin Yingxia’s voice was soft, a little gentle, but unexpectedly firm.
“Media Club?” Yu Zhizhi and Xu Siwan were both surprised.
Qin Yingxia’s appearance was very good, her voice was also outstanding, they originally thought she would choose the Broadcasting Club.
Becoming a host or joining the school’s etiquette team would be no problem.
Yang Dai put down the hair dryer, and said coldly, “…I think the Broadcasting Club is more suitable for you.”
Somehow, she imagined Jin Zhuo and Qin Yingxia standing together, like thorny vines, wrapping around her heart, making her uncomfortable.
She felt a sense of crisis, turning back to look at Qin Yingxia, “The training content of the Media Club is highly similar to your major courses, there’s no need to waste extra time learning the same thing.”
Yang Dai was always straightforward, Xu Siwan knew her and was used to it.
Yu Zhizhi, however, was someone who couldn’t stand any sand in her eyes, if she felt uncomfortable, she would speak up, “Senior, what you said…didn’t you also join the Media Club in your freshman year?”
“…I’m just giving you a suggestion, it’s up to you whether you listen or not.” After saying that, Yang Dai turned around and almost clumsily pulled her curtain closed, blocking the sight of the other three.
Qin Yingxia stared at her closed curtain, still smiling sweetly, “Thank you, Senior, for your suggestion, I still want to join the Media Club, I hope one day I can become an excellent head like Senior.”
Why is her personality so good?
Yang Dai felt uncomfortable, she would rather Qin Yingxia say something to her like Yu Zhizhi.
That way she would feel better.
