Secret Crush 6: Recruitment Meeting
Xie Chi and Jiang Yinghuai had been studying Qin Yingxia’s account in the dormitory for a whole night.
“This little freshman is amazing. Her account only posts pictures, not even a single tag. Even her likes can break a million…”
“Don’t even mention tags, sometimes she doesn’t even have captions.”
“She’s just naturally beautiful!”
“It seems like this account is just for recording her daily life?”
“Her first video was a picture of her wearing her high school uniform. It sparked a wave of youth pain literature back then?”
The two of them chatted for a long time, each taking turns speaking.
“Wait…”
Xie Chi noticed the school badge printed on Qin Yingxia’s uniform with sharp eyes. “Jinghe High School?”
He remembered that Jin Zhuo also attended Jinghe High School.
“Bro, this freshman seems to be from the same high school as you?”
Jin Zhuo had already been lying on the bed for a while. Xie Chi leaned over to his bed, staring at his sleeping face. “Zhuo?”
Jiang Yinghuai: “He’s asleep, right?”
After all, he had just come back from a competition and had been traveling on the road. It would be strange if he wasn’t tired.
Xie Chi just stretched out his paw to poke Jin Zhuo, but Jiang Yinghuai stopped him in time. “Are you trying to die? Have you forgotten about his morning temper?”
Jin Zhuo could sleep in any environment when he was sleepy. He would be a little impatient after being woken up, not necessarily fierce, just cold-faced and ignoring people.
“…You’re right.” Xie Chi scratched his nose awkwardly. He had been so busy enjoying his summer vacation that he had forgotten about Jin Zhuo’s morning temper.
Pei Lanhe came out of the bathroom after showering, his eyes half-closed, looking like he was also extremely tired.
“What’s going on? You two are making me suspect if you’ve done something that wouldn’t pass the review.” Xie Chi couldn’t help but be mischievous.
Jiang Yinghuai laughed, “Two single mothers, what do you expect to happen?”
After saying that, he took his clothes and went to take a shower.
Apparently, Pei Lanhe was already immune to Xie Chi’s words. He directly put his pillow down and went to sleep.
Jin Zhuo was tired from the journey, and Pei Lanhe was tired from coding all night.
Their dormitory was a mix of majors. Jin Zhuo and the other three were from the Law School, while Pei Lanhe studied Computer Science.
No one paid attention to Xie Chi, who was being dramatic, so he quietly calmed down.
Xie Chi: Oh? Why? Isolate me…
The summer in Imperial City was always hot. Because of the proximity to the sea, the wind carried a salty taste.
Yu Zhizhi went out fully armed. As soon as she arrived at the classroom, she couldn’t wait to take off her sunglasses, mask, and hat. “I’m alive… I almost died of heat on the road.”
Qin Yingxia blew her small fan for her. “It’s too hot in Imperial City. It’s much hotter than my hometown.”
“Yeah, I haven’t gotten used to the summer in Imperial City all these years. Hey, is your hometown in Jinghe?”
Jinghe and Shangjing, two cities with pleasant temperatures throughout the year, have little variation in temperature between winter and summer.
Qin Yingxia seriously recommended her hometown city to her. “I’ll take you to visit Jinghe during the summer vacation.”
“Don’t wait for the summer vacation. How about… during the National Day holiday?” Yu Zhizhi was excited and was already imagining the long holiday in October.
Qin Yingxia licked her lips, her voice soft and tinged with sadness. “I’m not planning to go home for the National Day.”
“Ah,” Yu Zhizhi noticed her low spirits. “It’s okay, then I’ll take you to have fun in Imperial City during the National Day!”
“By the way, about the recruitment meeting this afternoon, have you decided which department of the media club you want to join?”
Qin Yingxia thought for a moment. “The technical department…”
The technical department is responsible for daily event photography, editing, and so on, which she is good at.
Since she started getting involved in social media in high school, Qin Yingxia had specifically learned about it. After three years of accumulation, she was considered to be experienced.
“The technical department is indeed a good fit for you, and also for our major, but…” Yu Zhizhi pursed her lips and lowered her voice. “The head of the technical department is Yang Dai…”
From last night’s incident, it was clear that Yang Dai didn’t want Qin Yingxia to join the media club.
Yu Zhizhi’s meaning was clear, but Qin Yingxia gave her a reassuring smile.
“It’s okay, as long as I perform well, the media club won’t refuse to recruit me.”
Being able to successfully enter the technical department would be the best outcome. If she couldn’t join the technical department, Qin Yingxia would be satisfied with staying in the media club.
“Good girl, you really have a good temper.” Yu Zhizhi lovingly patted Qin Yingxia’s head. “I really don’t understand why Senior Yang is so hostile towards us freshmen, especially towards you.”
“…Maybe,” Qin Yingxia paused, her pink lips curled up, the light in her eyes turning into scattered shadows. “We just moved in, and Senior Yang is a slow-warming type…”
“That’s true.” Yu Zhizhi expressed understanding.
She was outgoing, but that didn’t mean everyone was outgoing.
…
The recruitment meeting was held in the Student Union’s activity hall. The first row was occupied by the presidents of the three major clubs, the second row by the heads of various departments, and the rest of the seats were for freshmen.
“It’s really fresh blood… Look at the excitement on the freshmen’s faces. It reminds me of last year when we were like this, everything was new and exciting.” Xie Chi sat in the middle, with Jin Zhuo and Pei Lanhe on either side.
As if afraid that the two of them would run away, Xie Chi’s paws were still pressed on their thighs.
Pei Lanhe frowned, his gaze lightly falling on his hand, with a hint of amusement. “I think we’re getting a little flirty.”
Xie Chi: “I like being flirty with you.”
“Tsk.”
After teasing Pei Lanhe, he went to bother Jin Zhuo.
Jin Zhuo was twirling a pen, staring at what he had just written with a bored expression.
“What are you writing? Let me see…” Xie Chi picked it up, looked at it for three seconds, then put it down expressionlessly, complaining. “You’re sick.”
Who in their right mind would have the leisure to memorize criminal law?
“Ah,” Jin Zhuo replied slowly, lifting his eyelids to look at Xie Chi. “I am a little sick, sitting here being your ornament.”
Xie Chi: “No one is going anywhere today.”
If it weren’t for the fact that the seniors were busy with their postgraduate entrance exams and civil service exams and were unwilling to take on club positions, maybe he wouldn’t be the one suffering now!
The first freshman went on stage and finished their self-introduction, choosing to join the Student Union.
Xie Chi asked, “Why did you choose to join the Student Union?”
Freshman: “Because your recruitment flyer was given to me. The people from the Student Union told me to come.”
Xie Chi: “…Alright.”
As if they were giving out eggs.
Some freshmen were well-prepared and had written their self-recommendation letters at home, giving passionate speeches on the spot.
Pei Lanhe praised, “Not bad, good voice, the Broadcasting Club welcomes you.”
Freshman: “I thought you were going to praise my writing.”
Xie Chi nudged Jin Zhuo, who looked weary, with his elbow. “You’ve interviewed so many people from the media club, why don’t you say something?”
Jin Zhuo chuckled softly. “Isn’t there you? The gatekeeper?”
Until a soft, familiar voice rang out on stage…
“Hello seniors, I’m Qin Yingxia, a freshman in the Network and New Media major of the Language and Communication College… I want to join the media club…”
