14. Rainbow Team’s Pink Hair and Hot Coffee
On the way to New Moon Media, the manager briefly introduced the collaboration to Qiu Rong.
To be precise, Rong Sheng’s collaboration was not with New Moon Media, but with another food company managed by the CEO of New Moon.
“This food company is an old brand with its headquarters in Europe. I heard that Mr. Yan initially started New Moon Media because he didn’t want to take over the family business. But unexpectedly, New Moon has developed so well. After so many years, his mentality seems to have changed. Recently, Mr. Yan took back control of his own company and chose Rong Sheng as their new partner.”
“The previous collaboration was almost finalized, and this time we’re going to finalize the contract. Originally, we were supposed to negotiate with the food company, but Mr. Yan is too occupied with New Moon Media affairs. They have called the legal department to New Moon, so we’ll have the discussion here.” Rong Sheng BioScience is closer to New Moon Media, making it more convenient for Rong Sheng’s representatives to negotiate at New Moon.
The manager patted Qiu Rong’s shoulder and said, “If you go to New Moon, you might encounter many celebrities. Make sure to hold the fort.”
Qiu Rong: “…”
It’s not a beauty pageant. I really don’t understand where the manager’s competitiveness comes from.
The manager looked at Qiu Rong meaningfully.
What the other party can’t get, he holds in his hands. Perhaps Mr. Yan will expose some room for negotiation to recruit talents?
Regardless, someone who looks spirited will have confidence. Before getting off the car, the manager reminded once again, “Mr. Yan is not easy to deal with. Even our CEO, Mr. Jiang, almost couldn’t handle him during the negotiations on our home ground. There might be some last-minute changes this time.”
“This is a major deal, and we can’t relax even at the last moment. Qiu, you have a tall and confident presence. Sit beside me later, and use your sincerity and confidence to impress them!”
Qiu Rong: “…”
Understood. I’ll be a sincere and confident vase.
Qiu Rong never expected that one day his appearance would come in handy like this, but it didn’t matter. It could be considered a novel experience.
Whether he can impress the collaboration partner remains to be seen, as long as the manager is satisfied.
Having already mastered the sunny and confident image, Qiu Rong smiled brilliantly at the manager.
The manager praised, “Well done, well done,” clapped his hands, and gave a thumbs-up.
At the entrance of New Moon Media, reception staff were waiting, and the group followed them into the elevator.
People tend to be curious about things they haven’t encountered before. Although companies have similar layouts, when it’s associated with the entertainment industry, it naturally piques the interest of outsiders.
With this subtle curiosity, as the elevator doors opened, the Rong Sheng team came face to face with a group from the Rainbow Team.
The Rainbow Team saw people in the elevator and immediately stepped back, forming a neat line, making way for the elevator entrance.
The members of Rongsheng: “…”
The Rainbow Team is probably a male idol group, dressed in coordinated fashionable casual outfits. They all have attractive features but with colorful hair, ranging from red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and purple. Standing together, they create a strong visual impact.
The manager whispered, “This is quite a unique welcome.”
Qiu Rong: “…”
It’s unlikely that any reputable company would go for such a gimmick. After the Rongsheng team exited the elevator, the Rainbow Team politely smiled at them and entered the elevator one by one.
It was just a chance encounter.
The representatives from the food company were already waiting in the meeting room. After exchanging polite handshakes, they quickly got down to business and began the final confirmation of the contract.
It was said that Mr. Yan was still busy and couldn’t come over temporarily. Qiu Rong, as a mere “flower vase,” had no place to contribute. He stood up and took the initiative to go to the pantry with the New Moon staff to pour water.
The staff thanked Qiu Rong, then took the tray and returned to the meeting room.
Qiu Rong received the last cup of water, placed it on the tray, and was ready to go back.
Suddenly, a person with colorful hair rushed into the pantry.
The unique hair color caught Qiu Rong’s attention for a moment. The person seemed to be a member of the Rainbow Team, wearing a thin white T-shirt and light gray sweatpants. The T-shirt was tucked into the waistline, revealing a barely noticeable waistline.
Although the New Moon company had air conditioning, it was still quite cold to dress like this in the middle of winter.
Perhaps this was the professionalism of an idol, focusing on style rather than comfort.
Qiu Rong respected everyone’s personal style, so he withdrew his gaze and returned to the meeting room.
The contract terms needed to be carefully reviewed one by one, with both sides’ legal teams engaging in discussions. Qiu Rong took off his down jacket and sat at the edge of the long table, ready to assist by pouring tea and water whenever needed, playing the role of a thoughtful assistant.
Approaching the end of the year, every company was busy.
Just like the manager, who was eager to sign this major contract before the end of the year, there were also people hurrying past outside the meeting room from time to time.
In Qiu Rong’s ears, negotiations seemed relaxed but also shrouded in hidden agendas. He distracted himself by counting the figures passing by the Venetian blinds.
Perhaps due to the fact that this floor was primarily occupied by meeting rooms, there weren’t many people coming and going.
After finishing the last sip of water in a paper cup, the manager hastily said, without even lifting his head, “Xiao Qiu, go pour me a cup of coffee.”
The negotiation was nearing its final stage, and Mr. Yan still hadn’t shown up.
Qiu Rong stood up, straightened his stiff back, and felt that he, as the mascot, wouldn’t be of much use today.
Unexpectedly, the person with colorful hair was still in the pantry.
Qiu Rong took a new paper cup and went over, only to find that there was no instant coffee in the New Moon pantry, only freshly ground coffee.
The person with colorful hair stood next to the coffee machine, holding a paper cup, and tilted his head back, making a “gulp, gulp” sound as he drank the coffee with the air of someone drinking alcohol. The sound of ice cubes clashing could be heard from the cup.
The aroma of coffee filled the narrow pantry. The person with colorful hair poured out the ice cubes from his cup, then grabbed another cup of freshly brewed coffee and made room for Qiu Rong, saying, “You can have it.”
His voice was muffled, slightly hoarse, as if he had just been crying.
Qiu Rong had no intention of prying into other people’s privacy. He focused on operating the coffee machine and left all the remaining space for the person with colorful hair.
“Are you also an artist from New Moon?” Qiu Rong didn’t look at the person with colorful hair, but the person took the initiative to strike up a conversation. Leaning against the counter, he glanced at Qiu Rong, who was wearing a beige knit sweater, and sniffed, “You’re so handsome. Why haven’t I seen you before?”
“I’m not from New Moon.” Qiu Rong didn’t have the indifference to ignore the goodwill of strangers, but he also didn’t provide any further response.
Most people would stop there.
However, at this moment, the person with colorful hair didn’t seem like he was trying to flirt, but rather trying to distract someone’s attention.
The pantry’s location provided a view of the elevator, and he frequently looked in that direction while chatting casually with Qiu Rong, who was waiting for his coffee. “So, what are you doing at New Moon?”
“Our company has a collaboration with New Moon, and I’m here as part of the accompanying team,” Qiu Rong replied.
The person with colorful hair suddenly became more energetic. He turned his gaze towards Qiu Rong and asked, “Are you having a meeting in the adjacent meeting room?”
Qiu Rong nodded.
“Is our company’s Mr. Yan coming over later?” The person with colorful hair leaned closer, his starry eyes fixed on Qiu Rong.
Qiu Rong couldn’t be sure if the busy Mr. Yan would come or not, so he replied, “I don’t know either.”
The person with colorful hair frowned, seemingly disappointed, and said, “Oh,” before slumping back. He took a few sips of his own coffee, casually placing it on the table next to him, and resumed occasionally staring at the elevator.
To ensure that there would be enough coffee for others, Qiu Rong thought of bringing more cups over.
The person with colorful hair continued to chat with Qiu Rong absentmindedly. After a while, Qiu Rong glanced at the cups of coffee already prepared on the table and thought it might be better to leave for now.
Meanwhile, the person with colorful hair sighed while getting closer to Qiu Rong. It seemed like he was speaking to himself but also wanted Qiu Rong to witness his declaration.
The person with colorful hair said, “Once this cup of coffee cools down, I swear I won’t wait for him anymore.”
Qiu Rong: “…”
He didn’t understand and wasn’t interested.
Qiu Rong discreetly took a step back, turned around, and went to fetch a tray.
Sometimes, it happens like this. The person with colorful hair, who had been waiting the entire afternoon for someone who never showed up, at the moment he finally decided to give up, heard the sound of the elevator, which had been silent for a long time, “ding” and stopped on that floor.
Qiu Rong picked up the tray from the innermost part and turned around to see the person with colorful hair trembling with excitement.
It was as if he couldn’t believe it and even pinched his own thigh, tears streaming down his face.
Qiu Rong: “…”
Without saying much, the person with colorful hair picked up the coffee from the table and walked out of the pantry.
Qiu Rong didn’t understand the scene that just played out. He placed the tray down and decided to fix his own coffee, intending to leave the place of gossip as soon as possible.
As he glanced at the paper cup that was far away from the coffee machine, Qiu Rong suddenly realized that the person with colorful hair had taken the wrong cup.
As he looked up, he saw the person with colorful hair walking straight towards the direction of the elevator, with his head down.
And the one who had just come out of the elevator, tilting his head and talking to the people around him, was the puppet cat that Qiu Rong remembered so well.
Qiu Rong realized he was wrong. He not only remembered the red mole on the puppet cat’s wrist, but he also remembered his own abnormal heartbeat when they locked eyes.
At this moment, Qiu Rong’s heart was pounding at the same frequency once again.
By deliberately comparing Yan Ling to the Ragdoll cat, Qiu Rong had hoped to shift his attention from a specific person to an entire breed of cats that he liked.
But with just one glance, all his previous pretense of indifference became in vain.
In that instant, Qiu Rong’s heart was filled with a sense of enlightenment, and he suddenly understood what the person with colorful hair was trying to do.
This is simply a cliché and cheesy idol drama plot—it seems like Colorful Hair is trying to cause trouble to get the attention of the CEO.
With a fragile appearance, long waiting times, and intentionally shedding tears… I don’t know what kind of script Colorful Hair came up with to scheme against Mr. Yan, but it definitely involves coffee.
The distance from the pantry to the elevator is not far, and Qiu Rong didn’t have time to think much. The cup in Colorful Hair’s hand was not his own coffee that had been sitting for a while, but a freshly brewed one.
What if it spills on Yan Ling…
Acting faster than his thoughts, Qiu Rong picked up Colorful Hair’s slightly warm cup of coffee and chased after him out of the pantry.
The closer he got, the more nervous Colorful Hair became.
Coincidentally, Yan Ling was talking to someone and didn’t notice him.
Colorful Hair did some mental preparation and increased his pace, heading straight towards Yan Ling.
According to his imagination, President Yan should ask in a cold voice, “Why is it you?”
Then he could cry and say that he would definitely compensate him for the suit, and smoothly narrate his own miserable fate, evoking sympathy from the CEO…
…However, reality was different. Colorful Hair heard someone call out, “Wait a moment,” but he didn’t wait and continued forward, only to crash into a wall.
Colorful Hair let out a hiss, and tears came out without needing to force them. He covered his head and saw the tall and handsome guy from the pantry come forward, separating him from Mr. Yan.
All the coffee in his hand spilled onto the white knitted sweater, emitting a slight heat. Colorful Hair realized belatedly that he seemed to have taken the wrong coffee.
Qiu Rong perfectly blocked the scalding coffee, but in his haste to separate Colorful Hair, he accidentally spilled all the coffee he was holding onto Yan Ling’s sleeve.
Grabbing the slender wrist, the black coffee liquid flowed over the mole at the center of the pale wrist.
The slightly warm temperature seemed to make the mole blush even more.
Quickly wiping off a drop of coffee that was about to fall, Qiu Rong anxiously asked, “Are you okay? Did it burn you?”
Author’s note:
Colorful Hair: That scheming person! How dare they steal the script of stealing my CEO’s heart!!!
