15. Who is calculating whom?
Yan Ling raised his head in astonishment, momentarily forgetting to free his wrist from Qiu Rong’s grasp.
You see, no one has ever dared to touch the hand of the Crown Prince recklessly.
Qiu Rong was the first person to break the rules, his attention focused entirely on the hand that was stained with coffee. Since the clothes were already dirty, he simply used his cuff to gently wipe away the coffee from Yan Ling’s palm. He asked again, “Did it burn you?”
Yan Ling shifted uncomfortably, and only then did Qiu Rong realize how intimate their posture appeared. He released Yan Ling’s wrist.
Qiu Rong had been surprised when the manager mentioned that Yan Ling of New Moon was of mixed blood. Last time they met, they were not close enough for Qiu Rong to notice the other person’s mixed heritage.
Now, with a distance of less than a foot between them, Yan Ling’s long eyelashes fluttered. Through his exquisite facial features, Qiu Rong could detect a hint of exotic charm.
The CEO’s hand curled up like a cat’s claw, perhaps due to his aversion to the sticky sensation. Yan Ling held his hand slightly raised, involuntarily furrowing his brow.
“Not burned,” he answered Qiu Rong’s question and then asked, “What are you doing here?”
Meanwhile, the disregarded Pink-Haired guy muttered to himself, “Why doesn’t he ask me? I memorized the answer to this question.”
Qiu Rong hadn’t expected that Yan Ling would actually remember him, and his heart couldn’t help but race once again.
The manager’s early training had paid off, and in the midst of his irregular heartbeat, Qiu Rong instinctively put on a bright smile and replied, “The manager brought me here.”
Ever since their encounter at Rongsheng Building, Yan Ling had taken a slight interest in this guy. Unexpectedly, the manager had directly brought him here this time.
Yan Ling evaluated in his mind, like a silly and innocent Samoyed.
Taking the tissue Vincent handed over, Yan Ling’s hand had already been dried by Qiu Rong using his clothes. He gave the tissue to Qiu Rong and shifted his attention to the Pink-Haired guy, who had been trying to interject all this time.
Yan Ling asked, “Who is your agent?”
Pink-Haired guy: “…”
This question… doesn’t sound like CEO Yan is interested in him.
Reality deviated from his expectations, and the Pink-Haired guy tried to remedy the situation, saying, “I’m sorry, I just…”
The coffee stains stood out conspicuously on the off-white fabric. Qiu Rong shifted to the side, and Yan Ling saw the completely soaked lower hem and pants behind him. Yan Ling furrowed his brow and interrupted, “Forget it.”
Yan Ling’s own cuff was also dirty. Naturally, he couldn’t meet the business partner like this. With time already tight, Yan Ling didn’t have the patience to engage with the Pink-Haired guy any longer. In his mind, he quickly assessed the most reasonable solution.
Pink-Haired guy: “But…”
The stickiness on his palm made Yan Ling uncomfortable. He turned his head and glanced at Qiu Rong, who was still standing there, and urged, “Hurry up and follow me.”
Qiu Rong handed the empty cup in his hand to the Pink-Haired guy, hastily said, “You took the wrong coffee,” and turned to chase after CEO Yan into the elevator.
Pink-Haired guy: “It’s not…”
Can you let me finish speaking!
Helplessly, Pink-Haired guy watched the elevator doors close, unable to believe what just happened.
He had been carrying the script for so long without uttering a single word, and this handsome guy from the pantry smiled foolishly and took CEO Yan upstairs.
Damn it, who’s calculating whom!
The CEO’s office was equipped with a separate resting room. Neatly arranged in the wooden wardrobe were clothes for changing, mostly shirts and suits, with a few casual clothes folded in the compartments.
CEO Yan’s figure was not thin, but Qiu Rong was too tall with a large frame. CEO Yan’s clothes would definitely not fit him.
The coffee had seeped into the knit sweater and dampened the shirt underneath. Qiu Rong took off the ruined sweater and put on a “patterned” white shirt while watching CEO Yan search through the wardrobe.
The CEO took out a few loose-fitting clothes and gestured in front of Qiu Rong. Qiu Rong obediently stretched out his arms and lowered his gaze, resembling a well-behaved large dog.
“This set will do.” CEO Yan threw the slightly oversized cotton tracksuit at Qiu Rong and took out a white shirt from the closet to change into.
On the way up, Qiu Rong explained the sudden accident that happened earlier. He didn’t mention that the Pink-Haired guy seemed to have ulterior motives, only that he had taken the wrong coffee.
“I saw that he was about to bump into you, so I went over to intercept. I didn’t expect to end up dirtying your clothes instead.” Qiu Rong followed CEO Yan, took the dirty shirt that he had taken off, and glanced at the brand and size. “I’ll compensate you with a new one.”
Under Yan Ling’s shirt, he was wearing an undershirt, but the exposed patch of skin still made Qiu Rong feel as if he had been scalded, causing him to hastily avert his gaze.
So fair.
Even the coffee that had been left for a while could leave red marks on Yan Ling’s porcelain-white skin, let alone freshly brewed coffee.
Qiu Rong began to feel fortunate that he had caught up just now.
The sound of the metal buckle of the belt echoed softly as Qiu Rong held the shirt that still carried a faint warmth, not knowing where to look.
The neatly pressed shirt was tucked into the trousers, outlining a slender waistline.
In that split second, Qiu Rong caught a glimpse of the smooth muscular lines on Yan Ling’s shoulders and arms. Now, with the clothes on, the CEO’s waist seemed even thinner and more fragile than that of a member of a boy band.
After straightening the shirt hem, Yan Ling saw that Qiu Rong hadn’t started changing clothes yet and said, “Take off your clothes, let me take a look.”
Qiu Rong, lost in his thoughts, exclaimed, “Huh?”
This doesn’t seem right.
“You just said his coffee was hot, right? I want to see if there are any burns.” Yan Ling found it somewhat amusing to see Qiu Rong standing there dumbfounded and subtly enjoyed the small moment of amusement.
He suddenly had the mischievous idea of teasing Qiu Rong.
Yan Ling took a step forward, approaching Qiu Rong at a close distance. He turned his head to the side, leaning closer to Qiu Rong’s ear, and whispered, “What do you think I want to see? Kiddo?”
The shirt in his hand was taken away, and the fabric brushed against his fingertips, sending a tingling sensation.
The little kitten swiped a claw and then retreated. Qiu Rong’s earlobes turned red, feeling that he was done for today.
Earlier, Qiu Rong still thought the manager was exaggerating, thinking that Yan Ling didn’t seem like a difficult person to handle. But now, although Qiu Rong hadn’t seen the CEO in a negotiation room, he was certain that he would be completely at Yan Ling’s mercy in this resting room.
No one could refuse the demands of the little kitten.
Qiu Rong took off his upper body clothes and turned around.
The cool fingertips slid across his waist, and his skin felt as if it had been electrified, immediately covered in goosebumps.
His heart was tingling with electric shocks.
Fortunately, Yan Ling wasn’t actually trying to flirt with the male college student. He confirmed that Qiu Rong’s skin was just slightly red and wasn’t significantly burned, so he stopped.
Qiu Rong quickly put on a sportswear with soft fabric, hoping to relieve his nervousness exposed under Yan Ling’s gaze.
If his heartbeat continued to race, his Werewolf tail would start to show.
Because he also needed to change his pants, Qiu Rong looked at Yan Ling somewhat awkwardly.
Yan Ling smiled and cooperatively turned around.
“You don’t have to compensate me for the shirt.” Yan Ling wasn’t foolish; he could figure out what the pink-haired guy was trying to do with just a little thought. In fact, he should be the one compensating Qiu Rong for his clothes.
In contrast to the pink-haired guy, Qiu Rong’s clumsy attempts at defense and his innocent and understandable nervousness all intrigued Yan Ling.
Actually, Yan Ling could have easily avoided the pink-haired guy who was charging towards him, but before he could react, a strong arm swiftly wrapped around his waist, bringing him into a small protective zone.
The faint scent of laundry detergent and the pleasant smell of blood beneath the skin enveloped Yan Ling.
The unfamiliar feeling of being protected piqued Yan Ling’s curiosity about Qiu Rong.
He actually wanted to get to know this person a little.
When Qiu Rong heard Yan Ling say he didn’t have to compensate for the shirt, his hand, which was adjusting the waistband of his pants, paused.
He had intended to use this as a reason to ask for Yan Ling’s contact information.
Qiu Rong was probably almost done putting on his pants. Yan Ling turned around and immediately saw Qiu Rong’s partially exposed abdominal muscles and mermaid lines beneath the hem of his shirt.
Qiu Rong quickly tightened the waistband and adjusted his shirt, innocently touching his nose.
Yan Ling’s gaze shifted away from the slender waist of the young man and asked, “Do you have time this weekend? I’ll take you to buy some clothes.”
Qiu Rong: “?”
That day, Qiu Rong and Yan Ling returned to the meeting room together. The expressions of everyone present were quite intriguing when they noticed Qiu Rong’s obviously ill-fitting clothes.
The contract was signed smoothly, and the manager personally heard Yan Ling say to Qiu Rong before leaving, “Contact me on the weekend.”
He didn’t expect that in the time it took for someone to go out and pour a cup of coffee, Qiu Rong would end up wearing the CEO’s private attire.
After coming out of the meeting, the manager cautiously asked, “Are you planning to switch to the entertainment industry?”
Qiu Rong chuckled, “Why would I?”
The manager felt relieved. He thought he had manipulated the future researcher into taking a completely different path in life.
Confirming that the relationship between the two was purely about compensation and being compensated, with no hidden agenda from the entertainment industry, the manager patted Qiu Rong on the shoulder with a complex expression and said, “Seek wealth and forget not the source.”
Which company’s compensation requires the CEO to personally take someone shopping?
It’s all just a pretext for young people to flirt.
However, Qiu Rong’s mindset was not as optimistic as the manager’s.
Raising a cat is a delicate matter. The temperament of a cat is unpredictable. A toy that they couldn’t get enough of one second could be completely forgotten the next.
When the Ragdoll cat suddenly said he wanted to take him shopping, who knows if the CEO’s interest would still be there by the weekend?
It wouldn’t be surprising if the assistant just sent over a set of clothes instead.
In fact, Qiu Rong himself hadn’t figured out what kind of feelings he had for Yan Ling.
At first, he was attracted by the mole on Yan Ling’s wrist. Then he realized that Yan Ling was a beautiful Ragdoll cat that would make anyone’s heart skip a beat. Later on, when the Ragdoll cat was in danger, a strong sense of protectiveness emerged in Qiu Rong’s heart.
There was no denying that he cared a lot about Yan Ling.
But in the first 22 years of his life, Qiu Rong had lost too many things, to the point where he now approached relationships with reservations.
He wanted to get closer, but he had many concerns.
While working, he counted down the days, and soon it was the weekend.
Yan Ling didn’t stand Qiu Rong up.
Early on Saturday morning, a black Maybach parked discreetly at the entrance of A University. Qiu Rong got into the car and inexplicably remembered the manager’s words, “Seek wealth and forget not the source.”
Yan Ling sat in the back seat and greeted Qiu Rong.
Even a Maybach could get stuck in the city.
The car moved slowly, frequently stopping, but it didn’t stop in front of any large shopping malls.
As the surrounding traffic reduced, Qiu Rong looked at Yan Ling with confusion.
“We’re almost there,” Yan Ling maintained a mysterious demeanor.
After another thirty minutes of driving, the Maybach finally stopped in front of a standalone villa.
There was a blackboard at the entrance of the villa, on which was written in colorful chalk, “Cat Cafe on Break Today.”
Obviously, this closure was not directed at Yan Ling.
Qiu Rong was puzzled by the word “cat” on the blackboard, but he didn’t ask further and simply followed Yan Ling into the villa.
The first thing that caught his eye was several large cat climbing frames placed against the wall.
Next, there were scattered balls of fur all over the floor.
A woman with neat short hair was standing in the midst of the furballs of different colors, using a soft rUriel in her hand to playfully interact with them.
Upon hearing the noise, the woman pushed aside a furball that was climbing up her wide-legged pants and stood up, looking at Qiu Rong with an assessing gaze.
Qiu Rong: “…”
Weren’t we supposed to buy clothes?
How did he end up in a cat haven?
Author’s note:
Alpha Werewolf’s Crisis: Suddenly surrounded by a group of fragile furballs, too scared to move.
Yan Ling: Meow.
