Su Wan: “No need.”
Su Wan: “Oh, by the way.”
Li Yang: “What?”
Su Wan: “If it’s inconvenient with you, just bring the divorce agreement with you when you come; you can give it to me then.”
Li Yang: …
He was pretending to be dead again.
Su Wan wasn’t in a huge rush to finalize the divorce agreement, but the sooner, the better.
She leaned back in the rear seat of the car and closed her eyes to rest, hoping nothing would go wrong tonight. It’d be best if Su Qin kept quiet; otherwise, it certainly wouldn’t be Su Wan who ended up embarrassed this time.
She wasn’t the kind of person willing to let herself be smeared.
At the hotel entrance, a line of luxury cars stopped one after another, each waiting for guests to exit before the valet guided them to the parking lot.
Su Wan’s arrival drew a moment of silence from those nearby.
“Who’s that?”
“She’s stunning!”
“Isn’t that Su Ming’s daughter, Su Wan? It’s her again; maybe we’ll see some drama tonight.”
“I feel like she’s changed a lot, looks even prettier than before…”
“What’s the point of being pretty? She’s just an empty-headed beauty.”
…
Under the pressure of various stares, Su Wan calmly walked over to Su Xiaoqing. Su Xiaoqing’s eyes brightened when she saw her, and a joyful smile appeared on her lips.
“Wanwan, you look especially beautiful today!”
Su Wan smiled and affectionately took her arm. “Let’s go in.”
With a natural grace and a poised demeanor, she became the center of attention wherever she went.
The hall was brightly lit, filled with guests dressed to the nines, and lively with conversation and laughter.
Originally, guests were mingling and chatting, but when the mother and daughter entered, many couldn’t help but glance in their direction.
Familiar business partners and family members approached to talk.
“This is Wanwan! She’s grown so much more beautiful!”
“She’s looking so well these past few years; her marriage must be very fulfilling.”
“Su Xiaoqing, you’ve raised a wonderful daughter. Li Yang must be envious; I wish my son had that kind of luck…”
At the mention of Li Yang, Su Xiaoqing’s smile stiffened slightly. She raised her champagne and smiled. “Thank you, everyone. Today’s not about my daughter, so let’s not chat about that. We’ll go check on the preparations.”
Hearing Li Yang’s name, those in the know shared some curious looks.
They exchanged glances and sensibly dropped the topic. Su Xiaoqing was an excellent business partner, and it wasn’t worth offending her over something like this.
“Big Sister, Aunt Su, you’re here!”
Su Qin’s sweet voice interrupted the polite compliments.
She had immediately noticed Su Wan’s presence—her striking black dress was just too captivating. Even the photographers surrounding Su Qin couldn’t help but turn their cameras toward Su Wan.
Su Qin was practically seething with jealousy.
Wearing a custom gown worth millions and accessories that totaled even more, she looked every bit the picture of elegance and privilege.
Yet, in the eyes of the discerning ladies around, it was met with a mere, “Good taste.”
In contrast, as soon as Su Wan appeared, everyone showered her with admiration, as if she, and not Su Qin, were the star of the evening.
How could she bear it?
She thought that by calling her “Big Sister” intimately, she might make Su Wan lose her cool.
Unexpectedly, Su Wan simply nodded slightly and said, “Mm.”
That single word distanced them instantly, as though Su Qin were no more than a humble servant.
Su Qin, on the verge of fuming: “…”
