Su Wan’s words caused an uproar in the room.
Su Qin’s face turned so pale it couldn’t even be described as merely unpleasant; her wide, teary eyes brimmed with shock, and her expression froze into a bloodless white mask.
“Su Wan, how could you say that about me?”
Her mind was a chaotic mess.
Around them, the guests whispered increasingly louder, and Su Qin could hear snippets of conversation—mostly condemning her shameless behavior and pitying Su Wan.
Su Qin had never expected Su Wan’s heart to be this ruthless.
It was as if she wanted to drag her into the depths of hell!
She wanted to deny it, but the truth was that her thoughts had been all about Li Yang. If she now claimed she had no intentions toward him, she’d lose any chance with him forever.
This outcome was unbearable for her.
But if she didn’t deny it, wouldn’t that only confirm the rumors that she was “stealing her sister’s man”?
How could she face anyone here?
With tearful, panicked eyes, Su Qin turned to the two men present: her father, who had raised her, and the man she planned to rely on for the rest of her life.
Her father, receiving the gaze of his most cherished daughter, was both angry and distressed. He was furious that Su Wan could be so ruthless, leaving no room at all.
After all, Su Qin was her own sister.
Stepping forward, he sternly said, “Su Wan, stop this nonsense! Do you even know what you’re saying? All you’re doing is hurting both Li Yang and Qin Qin! What good does it do you to ruin them?”
Su Xiao Qing stepped forward, taking Su Wan’s hand and positioning herself protectively in front of her daughter.
“Su Ming, you’re bullying her! When my daughter was being bullied by the two of them, you turned a blind eye, and now you dare to blame her?”
“What did she do wrong? All she did was expose your dirty secrets!”
“You!”
Su Ming’s face flushed, switching between pale and red.
Humiliated in front of all these guests, his dignity as the head of the family was thoroughly crushed.
“Su Xiao Qing, do you even consider me your husband?”
“I could ask you the same,” Su Xiao Qing replied with a bitter smile. “Do you consider me your wife?”
“When you cheated while I was pregnant, did you think of me?
“When you brought your illegitimate daughter home and demanded I accept her, did you think of me?
“For years, you ignored Wan Wan, showering all your affection on the daughter you brought in from the outside—did you think of me?”
How could her heart not have grown cold after all these years?
But the more she endured, the more Su Ming seemed to believe the boundaries could keep moving lower.
She had endured for the greater good, for the Su family, for the family, for Su Wan… countless reasons to bear it all.
But did endurance lead to a good outcome?
Retreating only yielded overreach and further disrespect!
Su Ming was speechless, staring at his wife and daughter. One looked at him with red-rimmed eyes filled with sorrow and hatred; the other’s expression was indifferent, as if it had nothing to do with her.
“…”
A small thorn seemed to pierce Su Ming’s heart, spreading tiny waves of pain.
Hesitantly, he still protested, “Wan Wan’s temperament, after all, has some shortcomings. Being with Li Yang was a compromise for him.”
“You forced him to marry her back then, didn’t you?
“If there’s no chemistry between them, you can’t push it.
“In fact, this works out—he and Wan Wan are separated, and Qin Qin is kind-hearted and doesn’t hold grudges. Li Yang could still be our Su family’s son-in-law…”
“Slap!”
