The news of Su Ming withdrawing his investment was quickly overshadowed by the news of Su Xiaoqing re-investing.
Everyone was watching the drama with great excitement.
“Wow, this really is a case of light at the end of the tunnel, I’m so excited!”
“I didn’t even know about 《City of Colors》 before, but now I’m starting to look forward to it. The trailer looks pretty good.”
“But how will the director handle this? Feels like it’s going to become a tool for capital games.”
“Who knows, we’ll just have to wait for the drama to air…”
《City of Colors》 was originally an unremarkable, yet-to-air drama. It had even received backlash earlier when news spread about Su Wan bringing in her own investment, and was boycotted by Su Qin’s fans, almost leading it to flop entirely.
Unexpectedly, after some twists and turns, it gained massive attention.
Public marketing accounts jumped on the opportunity and reported the events repeatedly, with each outlet offering its own analysis, all sounding convincing.
It was rumored that Su Qin had been offered the role of the fourth female lead in a prestigious American film and was preparing to fly abroad for the shoot.
It was also rumored that 《City of Colors》was in the process of reshoots.
It was said that Su Wan had returned to the set to continue filming without asking for a single penny.
There were even rumors that Wen Chenyu had turned down multiple movie offers, including one from a famous international director, to come to 《City of Colors》 for reshoots.
And then…
The rumors spread that 《City of Colors》 had finally completed filming.
Su Wan sat in the makeup room, sipping ginger tea, watching Wen Chenyu remove his makeup. His classical makeup was gently wiped away, revealing a calm and handsome face, as if he had returned to the modern world.
She asked, “Why did you turn down the movie role with the famous director? It’s such a pity.”
“There will be more opportunities in the future. That role wasn’t really a good fit for me.”
Is that so?
But she had clearly heard that the role was tailored specifically for Wen Chenyu.
Su Wan thought for a moment but didn’t ask further. Wen Chenyu must have his own reasons for making such a choice.
Wen Chenyu was known for being very selective with his roles—he didn’t take on many projects, but every one of them was a masterpiece.
Looking at the time, Su Wan said, “It’s getting late, so I won’t attend the celebration dinner. I’ll see you during the upcoming promotions.”
Wen Chenyu just smiled without saying anything.
“There will be other chances to meet.”
Other chances?
Su Wan thought he was just being polite, so she didn’t pay much attention to it and quickly dismissed it from her mind.
There was another important matter today: Su Xiaoqing had signed the divorce agreement.
Both the Su and the Su family had opposed the divorce and threatened that whoever brought it up would leave with nothing. As the daughter of the Su family, Su Xiaoqing wasn’t going to end up with nothing, but the position of chairperson would pass to Su Ming.
This had originally been the Su family’s business, so giving it to them was no big deal.
Su Xiaoqing wasn’t a fool—she demanded her fair share. Citing Su Ming’s infidelity during their marriage, she requested half of the family’s wealth. Though she didn’t get any shares, she secured most of the real estate and liquid assets.
—Although, when you added it all up, it didn’t even reach one-tenth of the value Su Xiaoqing had contributed to the Su family.
Su Ming was in pain over the divorce, as he had almost lost all of his personal wealth, even the properties and villas he had prepared for Su Qin.
But he consoled himself, thinking that the shares were the most valuable part. The thought cheered him up.
Tonight, he would celebrate with Qin Qin!
“Boom—crack—”
Suddenly, fireworks lit up outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, grand and magnificent.
Su Ming sat at his office chair, stunned: “What holiday is it today?”
Then, a news alert suddenly popped up on his computer screen.
“Su Xiaoqing divorces, beloved daughter Su Wan buys a million-dollar fireworks display to celebrate!”
Su Ming was so angry he leaned back in his chair: “…”
