“Su Qin, you’ve really disappointed me too much!”
In the luxurious study of the Su family’s mansion, Su Ming’s voice echoed with anger and disappointment. Su Qin’s body trembled when she heard it.
This was the first time Su Ming had called her by her full name, and his tone was filled with fury and disappointment. She had heard this tone countless times before, but always directed at Su Xiaoqing or Su Wan. It had always been soft and full of affection when directed at her.
But when she thought carefully about the situation, who could she blame?
With tears in her eyes, Su Qin cried pitifully, “I’ve been so busy with so many projects this year… I haven’t had a chance to rest properly. After I got injured and couldn’t continue as planned, I had to find a body double, Dad, I’ve tried my best!”
Of course, there were things she didn’t explicitly say.
Because of her cold war with Li Yang, her mood had been low, so she pretended to faint as an excuse to rest for a few days.
Because Su Wan got engaged to Wen Chen, her heart filled with jealousy and resentment, and she couldn’t get into character while acting.
When Su Wan gained fame through the variety show, Su Qin, still filming, had her agency arrange for her to join a new variety show next year to capitalize on her sister’s success.
The more she rushed and tried to take shortcuts, the worse Su Qin’s performance became.
By the end, she couldn’t even remember her lines properly. Since they could be dubbed later, she started to take the job less seriously.
Having been in the entertainment industry for years, she had seen many useless pretty faces and struggling actresses who only half-heartedly acted— Would people really pay attention to whether someone’s lip-sync matched the dialogue in a drama with dozens of episodes?
As long as she performed decently, her fans would hype her up.
Su Qin didn’t worry about that at all.
But now, she was stunned by the situation.
Not only were the haters criticizing her, but her fans were also upset, calling her unprofessional and saying she was money-grabbing. Su Qin felt deeply wronged, unable to understand what was happening. She was certain that it was Su Wan who hired online trolls to attack her.
She posted a Weibo crying about her grievances, subtly implying that it was Su Wan behind the scenes, but the fans who used to comfort her were now unsympathetic.
“Shut up!”
“You really ruined a good opportunity, why not focus on improving your acting?”
“Is money really that good to you, Su Qin? Ugh.”
“Our idol is also getting dragged into this because of you. Can you please stop talking?”
“Can you stop trying to tear down Su Wan? She hasn’t even mentioned you, so why are you acting like a pure angel?”
The overwhelming comments made her vision go black.
The studio quickly shut down the comments and began deleting posts, revoking Su Qin’s access to manage her Weibo account.
Su Ming was also in a panic.
He had already misused company funds, and the financial situation wasn’t going well. The investments he had managed to secure were now lost.
When he looked at the ledger, his whole body started to shake.
This was no joke.
If he lost this money, the company would be in turmoil. Stock prices would fall…
Su Ming slammed his hand on the desk, growing angrier the more he thought about it. “I can’t manage your future anymore. I tried to support you, and now it’s come to this!”
When Su Qin heard his words, her heart sank.
“Dad, if you won’t manage me, who will? I’m your own daughter…”
“I’m about to lose a huge amount of money, and this might break the company’s cash flow,” Su Ming regretted but had no solution. After thinking for a moment, he softened his tone. “Li Yang must still have some funds. Ask him to help out a bit.”
Su Qin couldn’t bring herself to ask Li Yang for help.
The money to cover the deficit was far more than Li Yang could provide, and besides, he might not even be willing to help her. If Su Ming found out that Li Yang hadn’t given her a cent, he would be even more disappointed in her.
Su Qin sobbed uncontrollably, “He’s in a tight spot with financing right now… he can’t give me anything…”
Su Ming understood Li Yang’s situation, but he couldn’t help feeling a bit resentful.
After all, he should be able to contribute something, right?
How could the son-in-law not help when the father-in-law was in trouble?
Thinking about the repayment date, Su Ming’s heart ached. He looked at Su Qin as if she were a money-losing commodity.
