After reminding the aunt to deliver milk upstairs later, Su Wan finally left.
As soon as she left, the two kitchen aunts quietly began to gossip.
“Why did she send food to someone else?”
“Probably up to no good again… She specifically asked about the dinner of the Shen family’s child.”
“Tsk, tsk, what kind of karmic retribution is this? Such a young age, being bullied like that and no one’s helping…”
“Well, it’s because he has no parents, sigh.”
The Su family’s villa was large, and after eating, Su Wan took a walk in the courtyard. The garden was lined with neat rows of greenery, and the gentle night breeze made the atmosphere just right. The courtyard was bathed in soft, cool light, and Su Wan walked comfortably in the breeze.
She walked down a small path and suddenly spotted a swing hanging from a tree. Looking at the soft, clean grass beneath it, she took off her shoes, carried them in her hand, and crossed the lawn to sit on the swing, gently rocking back and forth.
The wind brushed against her ears, lifting her black hair as she half-closed her eyes in contentment.
When Shen Tingyan passed by, he saw this scene.
A slender figure was sitting on the swing.
She held the ropes with both hands, gently pushing off with her feet, and started swinging with the breeze.
She was wearing a nightgown, her bare feet showing, with her toes curled up in a cute arc, glowing pale and flawless under the moonlight.
The skirt swayed gently.
Her black hair fluttered slightly.
It was a stark contrast to her usual boisterous demeanor. Her expression was relaxed and soft, as if she were simply enjoying the beauty of the world.
This scene was so beautiful it felt like a dream, though the twist was, the protagonist of the story wasn’t supposed to be Su Wan.
Shen Tingyan watched her impassively.
Su Wan, sensitive to the presence of another, turned to look in his direction. In the dim light, she saw the tall figure of a young man standing on the path, his expression unclear in the low light.
So it was Shen Tingyan.
He had changed into a light-colored short-sleeve shirt and shorts, his messy short hair damp, sticking to his forehead—he must have just finished running downstairs for some exercise.
Su Wan thought to herself that they were just strangers living under the same roof. There was no need for any deep grudges, and she certainly didn’t want to stir trouble to make the male lead hate her more or make things difficult for him.
Once high school ended, in two years, her mission in this world would be completed.
Su Wan politely nodded toward him, then turned her gaze back to continue swinging.
Her casual attitude made it seem as if Shen Tingyan were merely a stranger passing by—there was no anger, no disgust, and no sign of any emotion that showed she cared.
He couldn’t help but freeze, his delicate brows slightly furrowing in confusion.
Su Wan would look at him like that?
That strange feeling from earlier today appeared again… but she was clearly still as insufferable as always.
Maybe she was just using a different way to mock him, trying to prank him again. Shen Tingyan thought, his face darkening. He quickly lost interest and turned away, hands in his pockets, walking off.
Just as he reached the door, he saw Aunt Chen coming in with food.
Each dish was neatly arranged, all meat-based, and looked delicious—something not often seen in the Su household.
Aunt Chen smiled and said, “Wanwan said we could eat together from now on. If you don’t mind, we can share the dishes; if you prefer, we can eat separately. There’s too much food, so we’ll divide it. If you like it, I’ll make more tomorrow.”
Upon hearing Su Wan’s name, Shen Tingyan’s lips thinned.
After Aunt Chen placed the dishes down, he watched indifferently as her figure disappeared behind the closed door before turning his gaze to the food on the table.
The Su family’s people were no different from the Shen family.
Su Wan was the same.
Through this time of observation, he could clearly see that she was just a spoiled little princess with a poor temperament, someone who had been indulged too much. Of course, she was far more malicious and unscrupulous than other girls.
As Shen Tingyan thought back to her calm demeanor just now, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
He furrowed his brows and shook the image out of his mind.
He looked back at the food on the table.
“…”
With a blank expression, Shen Tingyan raised his hand and grabbed a plate.
With a loud crash, all the delicious food was tossed into the trash.
