Su Wan said kindly, “Why find joy at someone else’s expense? Isn’t that a bit mean?”
“There’s a saying:
‘Life is like a play; we meet by chance.
To stay together till the end isn’t easy, so isn’t it better to cherish what we have now?’”
“…Did you get possessed or something? You’re talking really weird,” Chang Xiaozhen shuddered, looking at her in horror.
Su Wan didn’t respond to her question.
It wasn’t that she’d been possessed; rather, she herself was the ghost.
So, in a way, Chang Xiaozhen wasn’t entirely wrong.
As they continued walking, they saw a tall, slender figure also heading toward the teaching building, surrounded by a few girls. He remained indifferent, ignoring them, and soon the girls drifted away, disappointed.
Shen Tingyan was handsome and academically excellent, so it was only natural that he was popular with the girls.
Chang Xiaozhen suddenly slapped her forehead. “Wait a minute—does what you said last week still stand?”
“What do you mean?”
Chang Xiaozhen pointed at the teaching building ahead of Shen Tingyan. “You said you’d dump a bucket of water on him after he gets back from morning study.”
Following her gaze, Su Wan could clearly see a few students standing by the third-floor railing, laughing and looking down.
Su Wan froze.
She remembered this scene.
The original Su Wan had arranged for classmates to pour water on Shen Tingyan as he walked back, causing him to catch a cold. Although he recovered, he developed a persistent cough.
From that day on, Shen Tingyan would cough whenever he exerted himself, and it would last until he was in his thirties, when he finally found a doctor to cure him.
This incident was yet another misdeed added to the original Su Wan’s record.
“A cough that lasts for years…”
Su Wan thought for a moment, then suddenly walked toward Shen Tingyan. Chang Xiaozhen, stunned, watched her.
What was she doing?
A chronic cough for over a decade sounded like torture, much like her own strange illness that prevented her from participating in social activities.
Su Wan could sympathize with that.
While she could watch Shen Tingyan suffer, leaving him with such a serious aftereffect was going too far.
The future powerful male lead was currently just a teenager who should be enjoying sports and laughter. She couldn’t just stand by and watch him go through that pain.
“Hey, Shen Tingyan.”
The elegant boy stopped and looked at her, his gaze icy.
“If you don’t want to get drenched, go upstairs. Don’t just stand here,” Su Wan pointed upward. “Watch out for a bucket of water from above.”
In response, Shen Tingyan didn’t move.
He looked at her coldly, unsure of what she was plotting this time.
Su Wan: “…”
She should have reversed her wording.
Switching tactics, Su Wan imitated the original’s tone to provoke him: “I knew you wouldn’t listen to me. Fine, just stay there, and you’ll see what happens.”
Sure enough, Shen Tingyan’s indifferent eyes lingered on her for a moment before he muttered, “Annoying,” and turned to leave.
The students on the third floor were closely watching Shen Tingyan. Noticing a girl with black hair talking to him, they exchanged glances, hesitating about whether to pour the water.
“There’s a girl with him…”
“Who is she? She came at the worst time. What should we do?”
“Su Wan said anyone near him should get soaked too…”
“Well, in that case…”
