“It should feel much better,” the masseur explained gently. “The pain isn’t as bad, but the bruises will still hurt if you touch them. You’ll just have to bear with it for a few days.”
“…I understand.”
The massage therapist arranged by the production team had excellent skills, and Su Wan spent a light-headed few hours dozing off. When she finally woke up, it was already close to evening, and everyone was getting ready to wrap up.
She changed clothes in the RV and stepped outside, where Xiao Zheng was waiting for her.
“This afternoon, while we were filming for others, you should have seen Su Qin’s face. Tsk tsk, a total wicked stepmother expression.”
“The producer came by. Even though Director Meng didn’t praise you, he didn’t say anything about changing the leading lady either.”
“Wan Jie, keep it up! At this rate, you’ll be the Best Actress next year!”
Su Wan nearly spit out her water.
Where did Xiao Zheng get that confidence?
Perhaps it was because of the snack strategy they implemented today. The crew members passing by greeted them, and Su Wan, shaking off her previous arrogant reputation, responded politely.
At that moment, a commotion erupted at the entrance.
“That must be Li Yang’s car.”
“Such a nice car; it has to be his!”
Suddenly, it started pouring rain again. The raindrops pattered on the ground, soaking her shoes and socks, leaving her feet cold.
Su Wan watched as a black Rolls-Royce pulled up at the crew’s entrance. The driver got out and, amid the envious gazes of the crowd, walked past Su Wan to pick up Su Qin, who stood beside her.
Su Qin couldn’t hide her pride, though she still acted awkwardly.
“Sister, Li Yang has something to discuss with me… Why don’t you sit in the back? I’ll give you a ride. Don’t get the wrong idea.”
Su Wan was not only unbothered but also very much hoped they would become a couple soon.
She waved her hand with a smile, saying, “No need, you two go ahead. He can have a good time tonight; it’s not like he’s going home anyway.”
Su Qin: “?”
Li Yang’s driver: “??”
“Go on, be careful on the road!” Su Wan cheerfully waved them off.
The onlookers nearby erupted in chatter.
“Wasn’t he here to pick up Su Wan?”
“Shh. You wouldn’t know this. Although Li Yang is married to Su Wan, he’s famous in the industry for having a sham marriage. He never brings Su Wan to any events.”
“In front of everyone, he shows off, and she still has to smile and send them off. How pathetic…”
“Suddenly, I don’t find Su Wan so annoying anymore…”
Xiao Zheng was so furious he wanted to scratch the faces of those two. Yet Su Wan remained calm, swiftly getting into the car, taking off her shoes, wiping her hands with wet wipes, and happily eating two dim sums in the van.
“Wan Jie, aren’t you angry?” Xiao Zheng exclaimed in frustration. “This is too much!”
“Have you never heard that saying?
‘If others are angry and I am not, who will be there to replace me if I am sick? What would I gain from being angry? and besides, it’s exhausting.’”
Su Wan nodded serenely. “No need to get upset.”
Xiao Zheng: “…”
Meanwhile, on the other side.
After the driver dropped off Su Qin at home, he returned to the office building, where Li Yang was looking down at documents, one hand resting on the armrest of his chair, his long legs crossed, and his handsome, deep-set face inscrutable.
“She really said that?”
The driver recalled the scene in the rain, his expression hesitant, a hint of pity flashing in his eyes.
The smile in the rain had been fragile and forced, trying hard to appear magnanimous, making her truly pitiful.
“Yes.
She kept smiling, saying that as long as you’re happy, it’s fine.”
