Li Yang’s gaze fell on that rain-soaked little face, but in his mind, he couldn’t help but recall a face with a faint smile, its expression indifferent.
Su Qin was covered in injuries; having been so pampered, that person must be bruised all over and in excruciating pain.
This time, she didn’t even cry to him?
“…”
A complex mix of emotions welled up in him, and he turned his eyes away, giving a noncommittal “mm.”
The next day.
Su Wan was thoroughly annoyed sitting in the van, as Xiao Zheng chattered beside her the whole time.
“Yesterday, we gained more followers! Finally, there’s a fan discussion group!”
“Many people came to defend you.”
“Su Qin’s work account posted photos of her injuries—she’s truly hopeless at everything but playing the victim.” Little Zheng was indignant, “I think she’s doing just fine!”
Su Wan chose to silence him with a cream puff.
Sensing the ominous aura, Xiao Zheng was left speechless.
Once Su Wan arrived at the set, it was as if a burst of energy infused the place, and everyone brightened up.
This was because on one hand, the director’s mood visibly improved; on the other, Su Wan had accumulated quite a bit of popularity beforehand.
Unlike that flustered assistant Cheng, who relied on the power of others and acted like they deserved to be treated like royalty just for handing out a bottle of mineral water.
“Good morning!”
“Morning!”
Several people greeted Su Wan in succession, and she smiled back.
Director Meng stepped out of the RV, his expression revealing a knowing look: “Did you really not want to come today?”
Su Wan neither admitted nor denied it.
Holding a thermos, she asked, “When do we start?”
“If you’re ready, we can start now.”
“Morning.”
Wen Chenyue, who arrived early at the set, specifically came over to greet her.
Su Wan paused for a moment but smiled back and nodded.
“Good morning.”
“Mm.” He observed Su Wan’s expression, noting she didn’t look as haggard as the rumors suggested, and smiled again. “Let’s do our best today.”
“You too!” Su Wan encouraged harmoniously.
The role of the second female lead was indeed much easier.
Su Wan finished her indoor scenes early, and by the afternoon, when the sun was out, Su Qin continued with her outdoor shoot. With nothing to do, she found a chair and sat next to Xiao Zheng, both munching on sunflower seeds like bystanders.
They watched as Su Qin pushed herself to the limit, her face straining as she maintained her ethereal image, forcing a stiff smile.
Su Wan shook her head.
Being a lazy fish was so much better; being a fairy was too exhausting.
Half-closing her eyes, she relaxed in the breeze, her long legs crossed and clad in tight jeans, sprawled on the chair, lazy yet captivating.
The scene was quietly recorded by the crew.
Su Qin, exhausted, took a break and noticed that Wen Chenyue had been looking at a certain direction with a smile that hadn’t faded.
He hadn’t smiled like that even while acting opposite her earlier.
Her expression shifted as she followed his gaze, only to see Su Wan sitting far away, eating seeds.
Su Qin’s face darkened instantly.
One looked worn and haggard, while the other appeared vibrant and calm.
The more she compared herself to Su Wan, the worse she felt.
Su Wan yawned and caught a glare from Director Meng.
“You’re the only one causing trouble here; the crew can’t keep up with the seeds you’re eating! Go rehearse your lines; at least they might snap a couple of photos for trending topics. What do you think you’re doing?”
As soon as he spoke, everyone burst into laughter, even Wen Chenyue chuckling, his eyes narrowing with amusement.
Su Wan remained unbothered, indifferent to the laughter around her.
“Right, right, you’re absolutely right.”
Though she said that, she didn’t even shift in her seat.
Director Meng: “…”
The laughter only grew louder.
With that, all attention shifted to Su Wan, making her shine even brighter.
Su Qin’s expression darkened, she pressed her lips together, suddenly closed her eyes, and collapsed to the ground.
“Oh no, Su Qin fainted!”
“Quick, call for medical assistance!”
