Chapter 6.1

“Do you need something?” Jiang Yao glanced coldly at Du YueJiao, then closed her eyes again.

Du YueJiao was about to explode with anger, but before she figured things out, she had to play innocent. She whispered, “Yao Yao, didn’t you take medicine and go to find Zhao Pengfei that night? Did something unexpected happen on the way?”

She clearly saw Jiang Yao take the medicine. If she didn’t end up in Zhao Pengfei’s bed the next day, she must have been with some wild man. Men who wandered outside late at night were mostly not good people.

Although she failed to sabotage Zhao Pengfei and Du Yuejia’s relationship, if Jiang Yao ended up with another man, she would be happy. This woman was not only beautiful but also came from a good family. While others starved, she could easily buy meat and fish to improve her diet. Why should she have all the good things?

“What medicine? What finding Zhao Pengfei? What are you talking about? I don’t understand,” Jiang Yao feigned ignorance.

Jiang Yao was tall, while Du YueJiao was short. Even though one was standing and the other sitting, they were almost eye to eye.

There was no anger in her eyes, just a chilling determination that made Du YueJiao tremble slightly. Jiang Yao tugged at the corner of her lips and said, “What do you mean I took aphrodisiac? As a weak woman, where would I find such despicable things? Don’t slander my reputation with your baseless accusations.”

“You clearly took it. That medicine was given by me…” Before Du YueJiao could blurt out the rest of her words, she swallowed them in time.

“What about that medicine?” Jiang Yao sneered, “Was it given by you? If that’s the case, then…”

“It wasn’t.” Before Jiang Yao could accuse her, Du YueJiao quickly interrupted her, “Jiang Yao, consider yourself lucky this time. Humph…”

With that, Du YueJiao turned to leave, but Jiang Yao stopped her.

“I warn you, if you dare to mention anything about who was on whose bed and being with some wild man again, I’ll go to the team leader of the production team to file a complaint. If the team leader can’t solve it for me, I’ll go to the commune, even the county. By the time your file is tainted, even if there’s an opportunity to return to the city for work in the future, it won’t be your turn.”

Although her voice wasn’t loud, each word she uttered sounded like a judge. It was the first time Du YueJiao felt that this seemingly spoiled and brainless young lady was extraordinary.
