Chapter 9.1

“You scoundrel, mind your own business.” Zhao Pengfei raised his fist but was stopped by Jiang Yao. “Are you trying to hit someone? If you throw a punch, I guarantee I’ll report you to the police.”

While speaking, Jiang Yao had already walked to the door. She said to Lu Che, “You don’t need to worry about him, just keep moving.”

Lu Che didn’t reply, he just changed from using both hands to carry boxes to using one hand. After the hand caught by Zhao Pengfei was released, he shook it hard, and the skinny Zhao Pengfei almost lost his balance.

Free from restraint, Lu Che continued as her mover.

Zhao Pengfei was already furious, and now that Jiang Yao didn’t listen to him and even helped Lu Che, it was like adding fuel to the fire.

“Jiang Yao.” He reached out to grab Jiang Yao’s hand, but she deftly avoided him.

Frustrated, Zhao Pengfei raised his voice, “Jiang Yao, I know you’re upset about me and Jia Jia being together, but you can’t move into the wolf’s den because of it. You’ll only end up harming yourself…”

“Wait a minute.” Jiang Yao raised her hand to interrupt him. “What do you mean I’m upset about you and Jia Jia being together? Are you kidding me? Who you date has nothing to do with me. Why is your face so big?”

“You…” Zhao Pengfei was infuriated. Unable to hold back, he blurted out the sentence he didn’t want to say, “I know you like me, but I’ve always treated you like a sister. Feelings can’t be forced, but rest assured, no matter what, I’ll take good care of you.”

“F**k you!” Jiang Yao directly cursed at him. “Who told you I like you? When did I ever say I like you?”

“You may not have said it, but leaving the comforts of the city to come to the countryside to be with me, the implication is understood by everyone,” Zhao Pengfei said.

“Your ego is bigger than a washbasin to interpret other people’s actions like that.” Jiang Yao sneered. “I came to the countryside to respond to the country’s call to build the motherland. It’s true that I came for love, but my love is for the motherland, not for you. Please stop being so narcissistic.”

“Jiang Yao, you…” Zhao Pengfei’s face turned red with anger or embarrassment. Finally, he stamped his foot and left in frustration.

Seeing this, Du Yuejia didn’t hesitate to follow him.

Although it was unsightly to have such a scene early in the morning, Zhao Pengfei had just announced in front of everyone that they were together, which made her very happy.

“Alright, everyone hurry inside. Don’t stand here and become a laughingstock,” Zhu Xia urged everyone inside. But there was no embarrassment from being watched, because Jiang Yao’s words were just too resonant.

Everyone present felt the same way, including someone who considered himself merely a tool and kept moving things back and forth, Lu Che. When he turned away from everyone, he couldn’t help but smirk.

Of course, he didn’t realise it himself.

After Lu Che loaded all of Jiang Yao’s belongings onto the bullock cart, she really had to say goodbye to the educated youth dormitory.

“Yao Yao, take care in the future. When you’re with fellow villagers, make sure to get along well and control your temper,” Zhu Xia gave Jiang Yao advice like an older sister.

“I know, am I someone who lacks restraint?” Jiang Yao pouted.

“Yes, you are,” Zhu Xia chuckled. “Anyway, I’ll be at Aunt Tian’s house, so if you need anything in the future, you can come find me.” Turning to all the educated youth, she said, “We’ll disband the educated youth dormitory today, not knowing when we’ll meet again. We came here from afar, and we’re like family to each other. Even if we don’t live together in the future, our hearts are together.”

The emotions of parting were stirred up, and everyone hugged each other, expressing their reluctance to part.

Lu Qing was somewhat moved on the sidelines, while Lu Che sat on the bullock cart, looking coldly at everything.

Just as Jiang Yao finished hugging Zhou Qiong, Jiang Chao walked up to her, intending to hug her.

She knew Jiang Chao had feelings for her, but facing this friendly hug, she couldn’t bring herself to avoid it intentionally.

“Jiang Yao, if you ever encounter any difficulties in the future, come find me.” Jiang Chao reached out to Jiang Yao, but at that moment, an impatient voice interrupted, “Are we leaving or not? I have to go to work.”

Everyone turned to look, only to see Lu Che with a sour expression on his face, clearly indicating, “If you’re leaving, leave now, or forget it.”

Although Lu’s family background wasn’t good, Jiang Yao was still staying as a guest, and Zhu Xia didn’t dare to delay any longer. She pushed Jiang Yao forward and said, “Go ahead, I’ll come find you when I’m free.”

“Okay.” Jiang Yao nodded and then got on the bullock cart with Lu Qing.

Lu Che sat in the front, driving the bullock cart towards the Lu’s house.

Back at the Lu’s house, the task of moving things fell on Lu Che again. Lu Qing led Jiang Yao to the main hall and said, “Grandma told me to cook sweet egg soup early in the morning. Let’s go eat.”

“Sweet egg soup too, you guys are really going to a lot of trouble,” Jiang Yao felt a little embarrassed, but she was also happy in her heart.

She definitely didn’t choose the wrong place; everyone in the Lu family is beautiful and kind-hearted. Even though Lu Che constantly wears a cold expression, although his attitude isn’t great, when it comes to moving things, he’s swift and efficient, without a single complaint.

“Where is it?” Lu Qing said, “Guests are to be treated well when they arrive. We should entertain you properly, but our conditions are limited now, so please don’t mind.”

“I’m actually very happy. Why would I mind?” Jiang Yao replied.
