Villain’s Delicate and Charming Wife Chapter 9.2

Chapter 9.2

After drinking egg syrup in the living room and chatting with Grandma Lu for a while, Lu Qing led Jiang Yao to her room.

“Your room is close to the backyard, and basic furniture is all here. It was damaged before but Lu Che repaired it. I cleaned it up last night, so you just need to tidy up your things later,” Lu Qing said.

As they spoke, they arrived at the door of the room, where Lu Che was bringing the last box of things back to the room.

“Is everything moved?” Lu Qing asked.

“All done,” Lu Che put the box on the table and turned to Lu Qing, saying, “I’m going to shower and then head to work.”

As he finished speaking, he walked straight out of the room without even glancing at Jiang Yao.

Feeling embarrassed as his sister, Lu Qing could only explain to Jiang Yao, “Sorry about that. Lu Che isn’t doing it on purpose; he’s just… I don’t know how to say it. He’s just used to it.”

“Sister Qing, you don’t have to explain. I understand,” Jiang Yao said. “His coldness is a defence mechanism. I know he’s a good person.”

Outside the wall, Lu Che, striding purposefully, suddenly paused, then continued walking.

“That’s exactly what I meant,” Lu Qing chuckled. “As long as you understand. Just don’t get into any trouble with him.”

“I won’t,” Jiang Yao replied.

“Make yourself at home here in the future. Of course, if staying here affects you in any way, you can move out and just be honest with us. We’ll understand.” After a heartfelt conversation with Jiang Yao, Lu Qing accompanied her to tidy up for a while before leaving for work.

Now, only Jiang Yao was left. She began to assess the room.

If the youth dormitory was a hostel, then the room at the Lu family’s house was a luxurious suite in a five-star hotel.

Brick walls and brick floors, although not as good as tiles in modern times, were much cleaner and smoother than the mud walls and mud floors of the youth dormitory.

Moreover, there was a big bed, dressing table, clothes rack, chair, and other furniture. Although they had been damaged before, they looked great after careful repairs.

Jiang Yao opened the wardrobe, intending to put her clothes away. Suddenly, the room darkened near the door.

She looked up and saw Lu Che standing at the doorway. His short hair was still wet from the shower.

“Do you need something?” Jiang Yao asked.

Lu Che stared at her, using a warning tone, “Stay out of trouble here and don’t bother me. Don’t wander around for no reason, especially don’t bother my grandmother.”

With each word, his gaze became even colder.

If it were someone else, they would have been terrified by this kind of stare, but Jiang Yao, a lawyer with many years of experience, remained calm and approached him calmly, saying, “Understood.”

“That’s good,” Lu Che turned to leave, but Jiang Yao stopped him.

“Is there anything else?” Lu Che paused impatiently.

Jiang Yao quickly took out a five yuan bill from her shoulder bag and handed it to him. “This is the rent for this month. Take it.”

Lu Che glanced at the money and said, “Give it to my grandma or my sister,” before walking away without looking back.

Watching his displeased figure, Jiang Yao wondered what she had done to offend him again. She pursed her lips, put the money back, and continued tidying up.

She had quite a few things, originally left in a mess by the previous owner. However, when she packed yesterday, Jiang Yao had already sorted through them. Now, it was just a matter of taking them out and putting them away neatly.

After spending nearly half an hour, Jiang Yao finished tidying up the room. At that moment, she heard footsteps outside the door. When she looked up, the twins had already reached her door and said, “Sister Jiang Yao, there are three sisters outside looking for you.”

“Three sisters?” Jiang Yao was puzzled. When she went out to see, she found that it was Zhu Xia, Zhou Qiong, and Wen Qian. They had come to find her to go to the county town together.

Since they had just ‘left home’, there were some things missing, so they had to go to the county town to buy them.

Shopping was something that every woman enjoyed, and Jiang Yao was no exception. She happily went back to her room, grabbed her money and coupons, told the siblings, and then went out.

“Jiang Yao, it seems like you’re getting along well with the Lu family!” Zhou Qiong said sulkily. “I thought it would be nice to go to the village secretary, but who knew their children would be so unfriendly, saying I shouldn’t eat their rice.”

“My situation is similar to yours,” Wen Qian said. “The team leader usually takes care of us educated youth, but his sons and daughters-in-law, with their watchful eyes, are even more intimidating. Now it seems that one’s own bed, no matter how humble, is better than a golden one. Even if the youth dormitory was rundown, we won’t be despised by others.”

“You two, stop it. I’m at the Tian family. Grandpa and Grandma Tian are kind to me, but their sons and daughters-in-law don’t really welcome me.” Zhu Xia comforted.

Given the current situation, Jiang Yao was the best off, but Zhu Xia couldn’t help but remind her, “Jiang Yao, you’re living at the Lu family now, and Lu Che is unmarried. You should keep your distance from him. There are plenty of women in the team who would love to see you embarrassed.”

“That’s right,” Zhou Qiong agreed. “Lu Che was quite enthusiastic when he helped you move your things this morning. Maybe he likes you!”

“How is that possible?” Jiang Yao blurted out. “He just warned me earlier, and his gaze could kill.”

As soon as she finished speaking, a figure suddenly emerged from the sugarcane field nearby, with the same deadly gaze Jiang Yao had described.
