Tower of Dawn: Volume 1 Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Level 2 Team

“A new team member just arrived. I’m going to handle his team admission application.”
Wang Zhi said to Sakura.

“I see.”
Sakura responded and then fell silent.

Wang Zhi, expecting Sakura to ask further questions, was puzzled when she remained quiet. “Aren’t you curious about who it is?”

Hearing this, Sakura immediately revealed a sly smile and said, “No matter who it is, my heart is only for you.”

“Heh heh…”

Wang Zhi chuckled dryly. If he didn’t know that this girl was a mercenary, he might have actually thought he was in love. He even suspected whether Sakura smiled while killing people.

“It’s a fat guy with five suitcases of luggage.”
Wang Zhi revealed without keeping any suspense.

“Five suitcases?” Sakura raised her white eyebrows slightly in surprise.

“That’s right. Now our supplies have increased again.”

Wang Zhi, having gone through an emotional roller coaster, had returned to his original good mood.

“By the way, Sakura, have you seen Old He?”

“That old man? He’s in the training hall lifting weights, quite diligent.”

“Alright, let’s call him later and check out the new guy together.”

Heading to the administrative office on the first floor, Wang Zhi walked alongside Sakura, who had silver hair like a character straight out of an anime. The turn-around rate was an impressive one hundred percent.

Even inside the office, some self-proclaimed handsome or muscular men approached Sakura, throwing flirtatious glances. However, unlike before, Sakura didn’t use Wang Zhi as a shield but instead chose an even more humiliating approach—completely ignoring them! This made Wang Zhi feel relieved. If things had continued as before, he was sure he would soon become the public enemy of the Dawn Tower.

Before long, Wang Zhi completed Li Feihong’s team admission application.

The two of them returned to the second floor, fetched Old He from the training hall, and then went back to their room.

Wang Zhi swiped his card to enter the room, only to find Li Feihong lying on the bed, eating snacks while watching a movie with Ling Ling Yao—completely at ease.

“Wow, fatty, you’re really living it up here.”
Wang Zhi couldn’t help but suspect if this guy had come for a vacation instead.

“Whoa! Where did this beauty come from? Hello, beautiful! I’m Li Feihong, with the ‘Feihong’ from ‘Wang Feihong.’ Everyone calls me Lord Hong. How should I address you?”

As soon as Li Feihong saw Sakura, he instantly rolled off the bed and introduced himself enthusiastically while attempting to grab her hand.

“Ah! Ow ow ow! Mercy, my lady! I won’t do it again! I was wrong!”

Just as the fat guy was about to touch Sakura’s hand, Wang Zhi saw a blur before his eyes. The next moment, Sakura had grabbed Li Feihong’s arm, pinned him to the ground, and was stepping on his back, making him yelp in pain.

“Alright, Sakura, he’s just ignorant.”

Seeing that the fat guy’s arm was about to break, Wang Zhi quickly intervened.

Sakura slowly released his arm and walked past him indifferently.

Wang Zhi recalled the scene just now—Sakura’s movements were so fast that he barely saw what happened. He only saw the fat guy looking lecherous and then being slammed to the ground. Meanwhile, Sakura’s face still carried an air of arrogance and amusement.

This was the first time Wang Zhi had seen Sakura take action. From the moment he met her, he had always treated her with caution. If he had ever crossed the line, his fate would likely be no better than Li Feihong’s. The woman beside him was a killer.

Wang Zhi walked over and helped Li Feihong up. Tears were in the fat guy’s eyes—whether from pain or grievance, it was hard to tell.

Sigh, of all the people to mess with, this fat guy just had to choose the most ruthless one, Wang Zhi thought, shaking his head.

“These are your two new teammates. The one who just disciplined you is Sakura, and the other is Brother He.”

Wang Zhi introduced them.

“Don’t feel bad about it. Sakura did it for your own good—to remind you to keep a low profile. This place isn’t like the outside world where the law protects you. Go apologize to Sakura.”

Wang Zhi advised.

After hearing his words, Li Feihong sniffled, limped to Sakura, who was casually playing with a dagger, and bowed his head.

“S-Sorry, Sister Sakura! I was being rude. Please forgive me.”

“Not bad. A teachable kid. Go rest on your bed.”

Sakura smiled lazily.

Behind him, Wang Zhi quietly gave Li Feihong a thumbs-up. A true man knows when to yield. He surrendered with no hesitation.

“Heh heh, thank you for forgiving me, Sister Sakura. Brother He, nice to meet you. I’m Li Feihong. Sorry for my earlier behavior.”

Li Feihong wiped his tears and snot, then grinned at Old He, extending his hand.

Old He glanced at his recently wiped hand, his mouth twitching slightly before giving him a pat on the shoulder instead.

“Fatty, your team admission is complete. Keep this key card safe and don’t give it to anyone other than our teammates.”

Wang Zhi then explained the current state of the Dawn Tower.

After that, he recalled Zhao Yang’s earlier threats and asked Ling Ling Yao to pull up information on the Qi Yan team.

Qi Yan: Level 2 Team. Captain: Zhao Yang. Team members: 5.

“Level 2? Ling Ling Yao, tell me the requirements for team rank advancement.”

To advance to Level 2, a team must accumulate over 1,000 survival points.
To advance to Level 3, a team must accumulate over 10,000 survival points.
To advance to Level 4, a team must accumulate over 50,000 survival points.
To advance to Level 5, the Tower Master’s authorization is required.

After reviewing the requirements, Wang Zhi calculated that if the four of them trained 16 hours a day, earning 80 survival points daily, they could reach Level 2 in just 13 days—not an impossible gap to close.

“What’s up with this Qi Yan team?” Old He asked upon seeing Wang Zhi looking them up.

“Ah, don’t mention it. Zhao Yang was harassing Sakura earlier, so I went over to have a word with him. You can guess how that turned out.”

Wang Zhi shrugged.

Old He glanced at Sakura and had a rough idea of what happened.

“You’d better not wander around alone for now.”

He advised before going to rest.

“Got it.”

Wang Zhi then turned to Li Feihong’s suitcases. “Fatty, open your luggage. Let’s see what supplies you brought.”

“Sure, Captain Wang.”

When Li Feihong unlocked the suitcase, Wang Zhi’s mouth twitched. Good heavens, it’s five whole suitcases of food!

Instant noodles, biscuits, chips, soy products, bread, drinks—even three cartons of cigarettes!

“Fatty, does your family own a supermarket?”

“Nope, I’m a car mechanic.”

“That makes sense. Otherwise, your supermarket would be losing money.”

“Heh, Captain, you’ve got it wrong. I don’t eat much. In an apocalypse, food is the most important thing.”

“You’re not wrong, but strength is the real key. If you have lots of food but no power, you’re just a delivery guy waiting to be robbed.”

Hearing this, Li Feihong turned pale. “Y-You guys aren’t planning to kill me, are you?”

Wang Zhi was speechless. “What are you saying? Do we look like that kind of people?”

“Whew, that’s a relief.”

“We won’t, but others might. From now on, never trust anyone outside our team.”

“Understood!” Li Feihong saluted like a soldier.

This guy is quite the character, Wang Zhi thought.
