For some inexplicable reason, Yu Guang still booked an appointment for a blood test at the University City Hospital after much hesitation.
Blood type testing was included.
Things like taking a number and drawing blood went smoothly, but the only thing that made Yu Guang dissatisfied was that the time for the blood test happened to clash with Ye Si’s class time for Marxist theory.
After drawing blood, he immediately took a taxi back to school but only managed to catch half of the class.
He climbed up to the fourth floor panting, furrowing his brow and pursing his lips.
The classroom door was half open, and the second class of Marxist theory had already started. As someone who was not in the class, he couldn’t just push the door open directly, so he knocked his palm against his forehead in annoyance.
When his breath finally calmed down a bit, he cautiously peeked inside from the crack in the door.
Ye Si was wearing a thin black windbreaker today, sitting in his familiar seat, his back as handsome as ever.
Then, Yu Guang inadvertently caught sight of a girl who was slightly tilting her head towards Ye Si.
The girl had soft, shoulder-length hair, and she wore a white shirt with a light brown cardigan draped over it, giving off a gentle and cute vibe.
When she turned her head, Yu Guang saw her profile—
It was Jiang Xiyue.
Jiang Xiyue lowered her head to write something on her draft paper, then smiled and pushed the paper to the front of Ye Si’s desk.
Yu Guang then noticed that Ye Si didn’t bring his textbook today either, but there was a stack of draft paper on his desk…
Probably borrowed from Jiang Xiyue? Just like the last time Ye Si asked him for a draft paper.
Would Ye Si also occasionally glance sideways at Jiang Xiyue’s profile? Would Ye Si casually sketch portraits of Jiang Xiyue?
Yu Guang didn’t know for sure, but it was probably similar.
Fundamentally, he and Jiang Xiyue were no different—
They were both admirers of Ye Si, or rather… fervent pursuers of Ye Si.
But Jiang Xiyue was much happier than him.
She arrived earlier and coveted the treasure a step ahead of him.
So she was the one standing next to Ye Si now, the one who could openly hold Ye Si’s hand in public.
And he was just a hidden, light-avoiding insect lurking in the dark corner.
Jealousy, like a tiny spark in a pile of dry grass, ignited in an instant.
The wildfire spread.
The sourness melted in the raging fire, and Yu Guang’s whole body shrank, hunching over and clutching his chest.
Jiang Xiyue suddenly turned her head back, and the two locked eyes through the narrow gap in the door.
Yu Guang still maintained his hunched and somewhat embarrassed posture.
He saw Jiang Xiyue pause for a moment, then subconsciously glanced at Ye Si. Seeing that he hadn’t noticed anything unusual, she turned her head back and smiled sarcastically at him.
There was no doubt that Jiang Xiyue harbored a great deal of hostility towards him.
This hostility had been planted and continuously nurtured since they first met.
It must be said, women’s intuition sometimes truly predicted too many things that were imperceptible to the naked eye, Yu Guang silently cursed.
But regardless of how dark and cruel his thoughts were, he still wore a timid look on his face.
With his scattered bangs covering his eye sockets, he took a few steps back and avoided Jiang Xiyue’s gaze, turning around as if guilty and leaving.
Yu Guang didn’t leave but leaned against the white wall of the corridor, feeling the cigarette box in his pocket.
Just as he was about to light one up, the back door of the classroom opened with a creak.
Jiang Xiyue stood with her arms crossed, eyeing him from head to toe with an indescribable arrogance, quite different from her gentleness in front of Ye Si.
But Yu Guang just silently pondered, realizing that they were all just pitiful people relying on pretending to be innocent to gain affection.
If Jiang Xiyue could…
Did that mean he could too?
Jiang Xiyue probably came out with the excuse of going to the bathroom, not planning to spend too much time with him to avoid raising suspicions from Ye Si.
She got straight to the point, saying, “You like Ye Si, don’t you?”
Yu Guang neither admitted nor denied, just silently leaned against the white wall.
“Hmph, your name is Yu Guang, right? There’s no one else here, what’s the point of pretending with me?” Jiang Xiyue scoffed.
Yu Guang didn’t even lift his eyelids, just silently retorting in his mind, ‘There might not necessarily be no one watching here.’
When acting, one had to play the whole part, especially when Ye Si was just a wall away… he didn’t want any mistakes.
Jiang Xiyue approached him in her small shoes, suddenly furrowing her brows.
Her nostrils flared, and after a while, her puzzled expression quickly turned to disdain.
“What’s the point of doing all this?” she gestured to the scent of the same perfume on Yu Guang’s body.
But in fact, he didn’t actively put on perfume; it must have been from sleeping in the semi-enclosed bed curtain with a high concentration of perfume.
A small bottle of “Road to Hades,” Yu Guang occasionally used it and was very reluctant to use it every day when going out.
Jiang Xiyue couldn’t help but laugh at Yu Guang’s uncooperative appearance, turned around angrily, but then stopped in her tracks.
“Has Ye Si told you his secret?” she said without waiting for Yu Guang’s reaction, then turned back to the classroom.
Like a small stone falling into a calm lake, although the stone was only the size of a fingernail, the ripples it caused spread to every corner of the lake.
The stinging pain of the fingernail digging into the palm felt like a blunt knife, torturing him.
What secret? Was there really a secret that he couldn’t discover even after spying for months?
Why did Jiang Xiyue know such a private secret?
Stunned for a moment, Yu Guang suddenly pounded the wall.
Another voice sounded in his mind:
Jiang Xiyue is the senior’s girlfriend, so it’s normal for her to know some secrets between lovers, right?
There are always times when days of tracking miss something, so it’s normal not to find out…
Yes, it’s normal.
The wildfire splashed in his eyes, collapsing into sharp knives.
Anything about Ye Si, any secret…
He couldn’t resist.
Yu Guang put on a mask and a duckbill cap, hiding in the corner of the corridor, waiting for class to end.
When the bell rang throughout the teaching building, he saw Jiang Xiyue following Ye Si as they left.
He lowered his hat brim and followed—
This was his most irrational tracking.
Despite numerous flaws, he miraculously wasn’t discovered.
He followed the two to a secluded grove.
The path was familiar, it was the small grove he passed every time he climbed over the wall.
The branches were lush, casting dim shadows, and it was known as the sacred place for secret rendezvous at Nan University.
A sour and painful sensation suddenly arose in his heart.
Through the shaking shadows of the trees, he saw Jiang Xiyue eagerly unbuttoning a button on her shirt collar to stick onto Ye Si’s body.
Fortunately, Ye Si avoided it. This made Yu Guang feel a bit relieved.
The next moment, Jiang Xiyue cried out in what seemed like desperation, suddenly took out an art knife, and slashed her own forearm.
Bright red blood gushed out, and Yu Guang stared blankly.
To his surprise, Ye Si didn’t even care about the bleeding Jiang Xiyue. Instead, he suddenly lifted his eyelids, his gaze directly meeting Yu Guang’s.
Their eyes met through the gaps in the branches, and Yu Guang didn’t even have time to disguise his innocent expression.
But in Ye Si’s narrow and deep eyes, there was clearly no surprise—
Dark light flickered, seeming to show an amused interest in his victory.
His thin lips curved into a slight smile.
“Yu Guang, what are you doing here?” the end of his tone slightly rose, “Come over.”
