Voyeurism: A Novel
Voyeurism chapter 4

Yu Guang felt as if he had been hit on the head by a pie falling from the sky, his thoughts a bit chaotic.

How could the senior come to such a remote restroom?

Should he greet him? Or would it be better to just walk past? Was he blocking the way…?

The two of them probably hesitated for two or three seconds before Yu Guang blushed and took a half step back to let the other person pass.

His drooping eyelids trembled incessantly, dense like the wings of a fluttering butterfly.

“Sorry, sorry for blocking your way,” he said, not noticing the unfriendly gaze from Ye Si as he lowered his eyes and bowed.

When he raised his head again, Ye Si was gently scrutinizing him, his gaze lingering on the tip of his right index finger, then sliding over his right calf, pausing for a slightly longer time.

“Is your injury healed?”

“Huh?” What injury?

Yu Guang tilted his head in confusion, his peach blossom eyes widened, reflecting the handsome face of the guy before him.

“We met last time, on the night of the full moon,” Ye Si said, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips, elegant and graceful, like a retro gentleman, “I saw your index finger wrapped in a band-aid.”

Yu Guang looked surprised, rubbing his fingertip, pondering for a moment, and suddenly realized, saying, “Ah! I remember now!”

“What a coincidence.” Yu Guang habitually licked his dry lips, shyly forcing out a smile, “Um, may I know your name?”

Yu Guang used honorific language. He didn’t even realize it himself.

The senior gave him a steady look, the smile on his lips unchanged.

“Ye Si, my name.”

Although he already knew, Yu Guang silently repeated the other’s name in his heart, involuntarily swallowing, feeling the heat rising on his cheeks, half from nervousness and half from excitement. His face flushed red like a ripe peach in midsummer.

“Hello, Senior Ye Si! My, my name is Yu Guang, ‘Yu’ as in the fragrance of Tulip flowers, ‘Guang’ as in sunlight.”

“Yu Guang? It sounds nice.” Ye Si paused for a moment in his tone, then smiled, “Tulip and sunlight, I like them both.”

Because of Ye Si’s mention of ‘liking’, Yu Guang spent the rest of the class dazed, absentmindedly filling his notebook with the word ‘like’.

When he came to his senses, he tore off that page and stuffed it into his backpack.

Just as the teacher at the podium presented the learning tasks for the next class, students began to take out their phones to take photos. Yu Guang also followed suit, opening the camera app—

But the lens was not aimed at the whiteboard, but at an angle.

The background was slightly blurred, with only that person’s clear figure.

The small square was occupied by Ye Si’s sharply defined profile, perfect as if it were the most outstanding sculpture in the hands of God.

Yu Guang pressed the shutter button without realizing he had forgotten to mute the sound!

A moment of panic flashed across his face, but he quickly calmed down, pretending to be focused on the whiteboard like the other students.

In the camera, Ye Si seemed curious about the source of the shutter sound, casting a glance in his direction.

Yu Guang and him locked eyes in the lens, the gray-black pupils of the other person capturing his heart. He seemed to be caught in this gaze, only slowly rolling his throat and pressing the shutter button with treasured care.

Another click—

Another photo was saved in the phone’s gallery.

After roughly glancing at the stunning photo, Yu Guang pretended to focus on the whiteboard again, casually putting away his phone.

It wasn’t until he eagerly flipped through the album later that he realized his palms were slightly sweaty and slippery.

As the bell for the end of class rang, accompanied by the sound of students standing up and the legs of chairs scraping against the floor, Yu Guang didn’t rush to leave. He watched Ye Si’s tall figure leave the classroom like a crane among chickens before leisurely packing up his few stationery and notebook.

As he put the last pen into his pencil case, a shadow fell over his head, and the familiar woody fragrance teased the nerves inside him.

Those familiar, fair, and clearly articulated fingers lightly rested on his desk, tapping lightly on the surface.

“Yu, could you please tell me if you took a picture of the teacher’s assigned tasks?”
