Shen Jincheng’s gaze shifted slightly, but he quickly concealed it.
Just as He Ye was about to down the drink, Shen Man called out anxiously, “He Ye!”
He Ye paused. “You’re going to drink it for her?”
“I—” Shen Man hesitated, unable to speak.
“If you’re not drinking, then shut up!” he snapped, then tilted his head back and downed the entire glass in one gulp.
Qu Wanwan muttered under her breath, “Old pal, I’ll have my brother work with the He Group more in the future.”
“Qu Wanwan, I already knew you were trouble back when we were in school. Still are.” He Ye shot her a sideways glance.
“How could you say that? I’m such a good girl.”
“Save it. If you were really a good girl, would you have fallen for a scumbag like Lu Yu?” He Ye scoffed.
Qu Wanwan was stunned. “How do you know he’s a scumbag?”
“Everyone knows. You’re the only one blind enough not to see it.” The sarcasm in He Ye’s eyes was cutting.
Hearing that, Qu Wanwan finally realized—everyone around her had known what kind of person Lu Yu was. She had been the only one kept in the dark.
“Hey, are you okay?” Seeing that she didn’t respond, He Ye thought he might have gone too far.
“I’m fine.”
Suddenly, Shen Man said, “Excuse me, I need to use the restroom,” and hurriedly left the private room.
A flush crept up He Ye’s face, and Qu Wanwan thought to herself, Crap, it’s taking effect.
She leaned in and whispered in his ear, “Call your driver. Hurry.”
“What’s going on?” He Ye looked at her, puzzled.
“You don’t feel anything off?” Qu Wanwan glanced at his increasingly flushed face.
“I feel a bit dizzy… hot,” he said, shaking his head.
“You’ve been drugged with medicinal herbs. Call your driver.” Qu Wanwan’s tone grew serious.
“What did you say?” He Ye’s expression instantly turned cold.
“Call your driver. He’s probably waiting outside.”
He Ye immediately pulled out his phone and told the driver to bring the car around.
“I’m heading out.”
He said it only to Qu Wanwan before hurriedly leaving, not even bothering to acknowledge the others.
Shen Jincheng looked puzzled. “What’s wrong with He Ye?”
“His father had something urgent to discuss with him, so he left first.” When in doubt, blame it on his father—always works.
“Mm, let’s eat. It’s getting late,” Shen Jincheng didn’t press further.
“Thank you.”
Seeing that Shen Man hadn’t returned, He Shan also headed to the restroom.
Qu Wanwan seemed to have something on her mind. She stood up and began pouring drinks for everyone at the table.
Everyone was caught off guard and flattered.
“Thank you, Wanwan.”
“Thanks.”
When she reached Shen Man’s seat, Qu Wanwan poured the wine, then lightly ran her fingertip along the rim of Shen Man’s glass before swiftly moving on.
Want to set me up? Let’s see how you handle it first.
Earlier that afternoon, when she was getting her hair and makeup done, she had specifically asked Qingye to prepare something special—then warned him not to breathe a word of it to Fu Ciyu.
Once everyone’s glass was filled, she raised her own juice with a smile. “Let’s toast—with juice instead of wine!”
The others stood up one after another, raising their glasses.
Just then, Shen Man and He Shan walked back in. Shen Jincheng motioned for them to join.
Seeing everyone toasting, Shen Man followed suit and raised her glass.
As she watched Shen Man drink the wine, a glint of calculation flickered in Qu Wanwan’s eyes.
As soon as she sat down, Shen Man said, “Wanwan, I just checked with the front desk. We ordered a bit too much, and it went over budget. Could you—”
Qu Wanwan smiled, but there wasn’t a trace of warmth in that smile.
“Trying to make me the sucker?”
Shen Man’s face flushed. “Wanwan, you know we’re not as well-off as you—”
“So you decided to take advantage of me?” Qu Wanwan looked at her with a playful but sharp gaze.
“Qu Wanwan, if you don’t want to pay, then don’t. Why do you have to be so mean about it?” He Shan jumped in to defend Shen Man.
Qu Wanwan tapped her finger on the table and raised a brow. “That’s right, I don’t want to pay. What about it? I’ll pay for what I ate, not a cent more.”
“And one more thing—”
Qu Wanwan continued, “I’ll cover the class monitor and He Ye’s share. The rest has nothing to do with me.”
“Qu Wanwan, you—” Shen Man hadn’t expected her to outright refuse.
“What? The He family can’t even afford this much?” Qu Wanwan shot back.
“Who said that?” He Shan retorted.
“Then go ahead, you—”
“Mmm—” Before Qu Wanwan could finish, Shen Man suddenly let out a soft moan, startling everyone.
“What the hell! Shen Man! What are you doing?!”
Qu Wanwan followed the sound and looked over. What she saw left her stunned.
“Oh my god!”
Shen Man had pulled open the shirt of the man sitting to her right and was running her hand over his chest.
Qu Wanwan’s eyes widened as she cursed inwardly: Qingye, you bastard! What the hell did you give her, you dumb oaf?!
“Uh…” Shen Jincheng turned his head awkwardly, clearly uncomfortable with what he was witnessing.
Qu Wanwan stared at the scene, a rush of excitement lighting up her face. This is wild!
Bang!
The private room door was suddenly kicked open. Everyone turned to look.
Lu Yu stormed in, his face dark with fury.
He yanked Shen Man away forcefully. “Shen Man! What the hell are you doing?!”
Shen Man had no idea what she was doing anymore—all she knew was that she felt hot, and she wanted—
She tore open Lu Yu’s jacket, yanked at the buttons of his shirt collar, and buried her face in his chest—
Qu Wanwan’s face flushed red with excitement. She snapped a quick photo, then tucked her phone into her bag.
Suddenly, she felt a chill run down her spine. She whipped her head around.
Outside the private room, Fu Ciyu stood with a face as dark as thunder.
The moment the others saw him appear, they all bowed their heads, not daring to make a sound.
Fu Ciyu’s eyes locked onto the woman brimming with excitement—his gaze filled with jealousy.
“Still not done watching?”
Qu Wanwan immediately jumped up and ran to his side. “I wasn’t watching—I didn’t see anything, I swear!”
Behind Fu Ciyu, Qingye was quietly laughing. Qu Wanwan caught him in the act and shot him a fierce glare.
She quickly stepped between the two of them and whispered harshly, “What did you give her? I haven’t even made a move yet, and it’s already working!”
“Uh, Shadow’s brother gave it to me… I haven’t tried it before,” Qingye mumbled in a low voice.
Qu Wanwan stomped hard on his foot, then turned and looked up at Fu Ciyu with an aggrieved expression. “It was him. I didn’t do anything.”
Qingye’s face turned bright red as he held in his pain, not daring to speak.
“Are you done causing trouble?” Fu Ciyu’s gaze was fixed firmly on her.
Qu Wanwan obediently tugged on his large hand. “She tried to set me up. I couldn’t just sit there and let her frame me without fighting back, could I?”
“You absolutely couldn’t!” Qingye chimed in immediately.
Fu Ciyu shot him a glance, and Qingye shut his mouth at once.
“I had He Ye drink that glass of wine for me. He’s the one who got drugged—”
Before she could finish, Fu Ciyu’s expression turned icy.
“Qingye.”
“Master.”
“Get them a room. Let them enjoy themselves to their heart’s content.” His frigid voice silenced everyone in the room.
“Yes, sir.”
Qingye made a quick call, and soon the hotel’s security arrived to drag them out.
Fu Ciyu cast a deep glance at Shen Jincheng, then said calmly, “Whatever your intentions are, you’re not allowed to involve her. Tonight’s meal is on me.”
“Understood, Master Fu.”
“Don’t worry, Master Fu, we won’t dare.”
Fu Ciyu turned and began walking off. Seeing that Qu Wanwan hadn’t followed, he said in a low voice, “Aren’t you coming?”
“Oh, right! Coming!” Qu Wanwan quickly jogged to catch up with him.
As they exited, Qu Wanwan noticed that the driver today was a strikingly cool-looking woman.
She immediately glared at Fu Ciyu.
Fu Ciyu frowned slightly. “What’s wrong?”
“Who is this woman? Why is she in your car?” Qu Wanwan pointed angrily at the woman in the driver’s seat, clearly upset.
Fu Ciyu chuckled softly. “Qingjiu, this is Miss Qu.”
Qingjiu got out of the car and respectfully greeted her, “Hello, Miss Qu. I’m Qingjiu.”
